With each eBook, Tor is including brand new artwork for the "cover". A different artist has been selected for each one, giving the art team at Tor a chance to provide us fans with a variety of styles.
This month, the artwork is by Jason Chan. The ebook will be released on July 22.
As with the previous covers that were released for the ebooks, Tor Art Director Irene Gallo has done a write up about the process behind creating this image. Be sure to check out the full article. Here's an excerpt:
When it came to scenes to depict, it seemed natural to revisit Moiriane and Lan. New Spring is their story before Rand¹s begins. Jason chose to express a quiet and contemplative moment. The early spring blossoms suggest changes about to occur, yet it is still cold. It is a heavy moment. The weight of their mission is just starting to take over youthful abandon.
Wheel of Time eBook Tor Books released each one of the Wheel of Time novels as ebooks. Each has new cover art, specially commissioned for the eBook format. Each featured a different artist.
So what do you think of this new image? Leave your comments below. Remember, we'll have a more detailed report on the overall future of the Wheel of Time print-edition covers at a later time.
HOLY HELL! Just when I was wondering what had become of the NS cover, here it is! And it's... woaaaa.. this is the best damn cover ever made! Baby-Moir is soooo beautiful *sighes* I was so taken by her the first 10 minutes or so that I missed all the amazing details: the trees and the grass.. the embroidery.. the super thin flows.. Lan's sword.. Lan himself.. everything is perfect! I'm printing it and putting it on my room's wall!
These continue to be so much better than the cover art for the print books. I've changed my Kindle screensaver to have the main series ebook cover art as the images. Definitely will add this one!
I REALLY hope for a simultaneous release of Towers of Midnight in ebook (with art like these) and in hardcover.
it is so brilliant .. and do you notice how young Moiraine looks (because she's young at that time). Lan on the other hand looks so much matured even at that time when he was only around 25. Perfect portrayal.
