Tor Books has released the cover art for the upcoming ebook release of The Crossroads of Twilight, the tenth book in the Wheel of Time series. Each month, beginning this past October, Tor will release the next book in the series in a variety of electronic formats. See below for a full list of links to the released books, as well as a schedule of the upcoming releases. With each eBook, Tor is including brand new artwork for the “cover”. A different artist has been selected for each one, giving the art team at Tor a chance to provide us fans with a variety of styles. This month, the artwork is by Greg Ruth. The ebook will be released on July 20th. As with the previous covers that were released for the ebooks, Tor Art Director Irene Gallo has done a write up about the process behind creating this image. Team Rosalie…
OMG… did you see that Team Rosalie is almost as big as TE and TJ!?…

I like it! This definitely conveys the mood in which Perrin finally abandons his axe. I would love to see more by this artist.
To the comment of looking like Winnie the Pooh art, well I can see that the colors are a little like a comic-book style (not that that’s a bad thing necessarily) and the outlining too. However, art is communication, and this more than almost any other of the images I’ve seen truly communicates the character’s inner struggle, and is totally true to emotions in the book.

Not a big fan of this one. The style reminds me of Winnie the Pooh art from when I was a kid. Take the axe out, and I could see this in a picture book for kids.

one things for sure, this cover is sure to start some conversations. Does anyone else see the archer on the ground? the roots of the trees on the left of Perrin.

i think the tree’s looking at me kinda funny. . . .

I see an Alien with a dagger in his heart in red at axe level, a naked cancer patien at root level in kind of an off yellow. but at the roots of the trees on the left, i see the silluett of someone laying down, with a quiver of arrows on his back and a drawn bow.
I dunno, maybe i’m just in a macabre mood.
