Tor Books has released the cover art for the upcoming ebook release of THE FIRES OF HEAVEN, the fifth book in the Wheel of Time series. Each month, beginning this past October, Tor will release the next book in the series in a variety of electronic formats. See below for a full list of links to the released books, as well as a schedule of the upcoming releases. With each eBook, Tor is including brand new artwork for the “cover”. A different artist has been selected for each one, giving the art team at Tor a chance to provide us fans with a variety of styles. This month, the artwork is by Dan Dos Santos. The ebook will be released on February 16th. As with the previous covers that were released for the ebooks, Tor Art Director Irene Gallo has done a write up about the process behind creating this image. Be sure to check out the full article. Love this photo. It is reminiscent of the WoT card game photo, at least in my opinion. However the costume could be more true to Cairhienin style. Everything about it is beautiful, though. My problem with the original coverart is most of it was not true to the way things were described in the books so things like the “gypsy belt” in new cover art should be rectified if this were going into a print version. Her ring does not look very snake like either, course that may be due to lack of detail in a small version of the photo. As fan art I do love it though. The jewel on her head is beautiful. The singes of fire are perfect. The channeling is great.

I didn’t know Moiraine was a strumpet! She looks like she’s about to dance, not fight. As forward as those Saldean farmgirls Faile keeps rambling about. Yikes!
I can only imagine what Lanfear looks like in this guy’s head. Eva Green, maybe?

Why couldn’t art work of this quality have been used on the original books? This and the one posted for the next book have some life to them.
If anyone is listening, how about some high detail maps.

I like the new covers. Question. Via Amazon is only a Kindle Ebookreader version. Can I read this on a Sony Ebookreader?

Virginia has the right of it. A good but not great cover ruined by that stupid gypsy belt.

I love this cover and the cover Dan Dos Santos did for Brandon Sanderson’s Warbreaker. I wish Tor would have chose him for all the WOT books.
