If you think I'm being stupid or you think I'm railing on someone that doesn't deserve it all you have to do is make some posts that make sense so I see where you think I'm going wrong. In the mean time, there's a LOT for me not to like. I've posted these things. And the responses to my concerns have been underwhelming and "that's just how we roll" types of responses that are 0% convincing.

That's because you've already decided not to accept the reality of our play styles.

Your problem; not mine.

actually that IS your problem if people decide to lynch you for it.

I'm also very susceptible to people hardclearing me

Tom entered the thread saying "Monstrman is a villager"

and I'm a softie for people that clear me

If you know this why do you still let it happen?

I can't say I have any strong scum leans at this point, but I am feeling all right about some people.

Leelou - I really liked her post about her being town because she's reading the thread. Because that was exactly what was bugging me about her last game - she didn't post a lot and claimed it was because she was busy, and while that was probably true, it was the content of her posts that bugged me; they didn't seem to add much to the game. While there hasn't been much from her in this game yet, I can already tell a different in the tone of her posts, she seems more into the game, in general.

Tommy - I'm - tentatively - null to town on Tommy atm. I saw a couple of people said they were scumreading him because he's all over the place and strongarming, but I'm leaning townish on him because of that. I've played with him twice - the first time he was villager and was more aggressive about pushing at people. While I can't honestly claim to have ever really scumread him in the Firefly game, I did feel a bit wary about him from time to time because he seemed to be sort of sitting back more and just gently prodding people here and there. So I'm kind of associating that more mild behavior with him as scum.

I also didn't feel there was anything wolfy about Verb's poking at Thane at the start of game. I think he was just trying to get things going and get active at the start of the game, since he got so far behind in the last game.

Hallia looking much better to me than usual, though I will admit I'm wary about scumreading her after Firefly game. But she's talking sense mostly. One thing though - Hallia, you agreed with something dice said about a post from AJ looking forced (I thought I'd marked the post number but can't find it now). Care to elaborate on that? Or dice, if you're around? It seemed like a very neutral post to me. (I'll see if I can find the actual post.)

Hi aj
You a villager?

What does your gut say?

yes

This post makes my gut say No.

I see what dice means.

That AJ response seems a touch forced

Not enough for me to vote him, but enough to note.

These are the posts I was talking about re: Hallia and dice on AJ, btw.

The way he broke it up, and added the actual answer to  a spoiler.

hally is right on the money. the way he set that out set my gut off. He   probably better then anyone    should know that asking for a gut read is liable to get one from me.

Hi Alanna :)

Ftr those arguing about manbat & co. clearing each other early being wolfy are wrong. It's just how they play. This sort of interaction is likely to happen regardless of their individual or collective alignments except for maybe those ~rare occasions where one of them is obviously off, which isn't likely going to be readily visible until later phases. I get the hysteria after the VS game but I really don't think there's anything that is going to stop it. Besides if they all randed wolf again together we are already doomed so you might as well just pucker up and take it :sleepy:

More seriously though I do like Hallia's content this round. I think her and Cory as a hydra is going to elevate her play greatly. I look forward to seeing their reads as things progress.

Dice is likely a villager for how he approached me on the subject. I feel for one he's very transparent and two his simple justification. Dice is a gutty player and that is an example of how I expect him to articulate an early read.

you could have made me sound tough and said gutSy!!!!

the red

i was thinking along these lines too. I remember back when people were bitching left and right about the alliance  that one of them explained that D1 they basically dont even think of going after each other. that it was automatic. but later on if they saw something off they got @ each other.  im paraphrasing obviously.

seems like manbat does that too.   do i think its good?  no. doi i think its scummy?  not necessarily. if they were ignoring obvious horrible posts that would be scummy but thats not really happening at this point

i want to become a better player, somebody who isn't liable for people to spew hate at.

my thoughts on alliances:

they encourage people like me to look the other way. as such i have to actively suppress that impulse which is troublesome. seems like a net-negative for town, but among veterans it's probably neutral and it's bragging rights if you still win.

im leaning town on manbat    hes been transparent about the way he plays and refuses to change his reads despite pressue about it

im carefully leaning town on yates/leelou. mostly cause im paranoid yates is tricking me tbh. i agree with AJ that his opening posts to us were townie yates posts and he has been agressive and pushing things.

im putting AJ at null. i didnt and still dont like that response. he finally comments on my vvote in a way that is positive to me. it is a very typical AJ way at looking at my posts    he prides himself a little on being able to town read me easy but i can see 3 reasons for his reactions. 1 he's scum and trying to buddy me into being like monstr and being soft  2 hes scum and isnt worried about the vote cause its just one vote and its by someone with no clout or 3 hes town and isnt worried cause he figures i will see his townieness soon enough.

im leaning town on corey hally mostly cause of hally actually. We have thought along the same lines a couple of times and she totally read my mind earlier

thane may just be my strongest town read. probably a strong lean. ive seen him put his foot in his mouth before and get lynched and every time he was town. also i think he is more nervous and tentative as scum

im leaning scum on verb and arsis.

arsis just seems to be taking pot shots from the sidelines

verb is a gut reaction to his intial reaction to thanes foot in mouth. im willing to hold off and see more from him

unvote

silli  perhaps try going the other way. i actually tend to make sure to pay a lot of attention to the alliances   but i try to do it with a critical eye.  not sure how good i am at it but there it is i guess

also  is Dingus monstr??

How am I just taking pot shots? I made my feelings pretty clear and was active in the thread. Easy else could I possibly do?

oh, Arsis... if you check the location just next to my siggy, you would have known

I'm on mobile so I have no idea what you're talking about. I'll just assume Belgians are generally rude people.

;P

potshot.

Has Arsis been around? I don't really remember seeing him weigh in on much yet.

Nope, he's been absent all day besides a few post at the start.
What are your thoughts on Thane?
I think English is his second language and it leads to a lot of things that would probably make more sense in his mother tongue.

His interaction with Verb made no sense to me at all from either side. I think he was just trying to figure things out rather than a scum slip. He is more active than usual as well. Which is probably town motivated?

If he's more active than usual, why would that be town motivated?

What do you think of the incredibly early game setup talk?

couldnt just ask leelou  had to push on thane a bit too

I'm going to pretend Verbal has town cred for coming out strong and "scumhunting" but I'm really suspicious of him jumping on something small so soon.

arguing both sides

Why Arsis?

Any group of people joke back and forth like that D1

Or did you have a better reason?

It's obvious? Manbat is in his scum meta.

Tommy isn't actually playing and actively trying to push people's buttons/be emotionally manipulative.

Cory is just scum. His opening was terrible. He's pushing nonsense. Read him. He's bad.

Are YOU reading this game?

Cory and I are a hydra.

you think thats an actual reason for voting corey/hallia??

the tommy bit?  you just described what he does EVERY game and he is actually doing it LESS this game then normal.

I liked Alanna's catch up post and I also liked how she took into consideration as to where Yates is coming from once she got information about a previous game.

I'm reading Hallia as townish right now, she is voting where she is looking at people, not just going with the flow.

I actually have Arsis as more null right now and I think people are using him as lynch bait. I'm not seeing his rub it in your face I'm scum 'tude yet.

Hated Berf's post.

I want to see more from BFG before making any sort of read on Key.

Still null on AJ.

Dice is posting and doesn't seem to be tripping over himself, which is leading me to push him towards my town pile.

Lantur slipped back into her tent just as the sun hit its zenith.  She let her eyes adjust to the sudden shade before striding to the table in the middle of the room.  Her eyes roamed over the map below her, studying the detailed plans of her attack.  The Abbey was situated in a respectable defensive position.  The main gate overlooked the North Road with a long, deep ditch situated on the opposite side of the road and a meadow providing the backdrop.  The South Gate faced an open field framed by trees, while the North and East walls backed up directly into Mossflower Wood.  The walls were high and stout; climbing over them was unlikely in large numbers and Lantur had never approved of scaling ladders or grapnels, preferring finesse over force.  Physical force was secondary - it was in the mind that the true terrors lay.  Yes, she would break their will and then break their hearts before finally breaking their skulls.

I'm allowed to be a hypocrite without being a wolf

I know that, Monster. I didn't even call you a hypocrite or even mean to insinuate that. My point is that I was hoping you'd be more understanding of my concern since you had addressed a similar concern as a moderator. If Tom flips scum? THEN I might start to wonder more about the motivation behind the change in "opinion." And I think that's a valid concern.

I just wanted to post this, wrt Arsis:

I'm actually okay with the Arsis counter wagon, personally. If I'm wrong about Tommy being scum? I absolutely see where the Arsis posts would look opportunistic. With that said, the reason *I* have him as null is because Arsis trolls as either alignment. I'm pretty sure that's something HE says about his own play. The only way for me to tell if it's Town trolling or Scum trolling is with flips. So yeah. That's why I think we both agree that Arsis can be a tough Day 1 read.

I think I need to talk Leelou into my Des Town read, but she's with me on my recommendation on how we should treat/read Thane.

Can we be new besties IRL? This is EXACTLY where I'm at on this. Like, I know what AJ is saying but I'm not willing to accept this as my reality:

Besides if they all randed wolf again together we are already doomed so you might as well just pucker up and take it

Heck, I don't even think they all need to rand wolf together. Look at the last game here where Tom and Cory were W-V. By the time Cory figured out Tom was a wolf, he was a dead cop. And the opinions of a dead cop who had inadvertently cleared a scum Tom basically made Tom a cleared untouchable Townie. That's why this sort of PLAY is troublesome to me. I get that these guys come from a different site. And I get that they think that everyone HERE should adapt to THEIR style of play. But that's not realistic or, really, even my preference.
