DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Book tour info for Towers of Midnight

Jason Denzel

We've been given all the information for the Towers of Midnight book tour. As with The Gathering Storm tour, the events will kick off with a midnight release party in Provo, UT. Then the tour begins on the West Coast in Sacramento, CA (Dragonmount.com's home town!) and will conclude in New York City on November 8th.

The tour this time will be shorter than last year's due in part to the fact that Brandon just had another recent tour (completed this week) for The Way of Kings, his latest solo novel. But there's a special surprise: Harriet will be attending every one of the book tour events!

Also, just like last year, each site will have a a select group of volunteer fans who will help run the show and document the event. These "Tower Guards" will get a chance to meet with Brandon and Harriet in private before the signing event. Applications to be a Tower Guard will go online on our website in the near future.

Sweet! I get to meet Harriet! Very exciting.

Are they doing something this year like the Stormleaders from last year? I would love to apply for that this time.

I'm lucky it's even closer than last year. I won't need to get a hotel if I get to be a tower gaurd.

Jason is from Sacramento... and a Sarah Barnhard was in the trailer... *Shakes my head*

Well I'm glad I'll be in the United States this year. I'll see any of you at the Sacramento tour.

This is bunk -- Tor only sending him on a seven-day tour for a book of this magnitude. I'd actually hoped he'd come within 700 miles of me this time. Who picks his stops? A cross-eyed Trolloc who makes spreadsheets out of the bones of the damned? I say we revolt and...um...actually I can't think of anything I'd actually do to make a point. I'm certainly not going to boycott the book. Drat! Um...okay, I'll stop ranting.

For now.

Dallas.. but not Houston.. again. Man, what a disappointment. After his work on The Gathering Storm, I was definitely hoping he would make it further south. A six hour one-way drive on a Thursday. Ha.. Maybe he'll make it through for the final book.

@Randon Man Brandon JUST got home from a book tour. And last year's mega-tour was very exhausting for him. Most authors only hit between 5-6 cities on a national signing tour. This one is a short one, but I hear they are planning another big one for AMoL.

Actually the tour looks exhausting. That is a ton of traveling in such a short amount of time. It looks very tiring. If they need any help or anything in CA let me know. I'll have gotten in from leave moving over from Japan the week before and will probably still be trying to finish ToM at the bookstore when they get in >.>

What's up with the East Coast/West Coast love? Can't we get a few more in the middle of the country? It's all California and Northeast..

I actually talked to Dot Lin about this last year. She was the publicist at Tor who set up the TGS tour.

According to her, there's a a very careful balancing act that has to take place with regarding tour stops. They need to hit the major chains like Borders and Barnes & Noble to keep them happy. They want to hit bookstores that report to the NYT Bestseller list, especially the first week of sales, because an author appearance will boost sales dramatically for that location. Not all book stores report their sales to that list. And like I said before, they try to hit the major population centers. Which is why you get so many signings on the coasts, those are the areas with the most population density in the US.

On top of that, Brandon asks to go to independent stores when possible and to go to locations he's never been before. So it's a very careful balancing act that will never, ever make everyone involved happy, least of all the author who has to get bounced around from time zone to time zone.

That's awesome news!

I'll be at the Dallas signing. I can't wait for the application for Tower Guards!

Definitely planning on going to the NYC signing again. The best things about these signings is all the discussions with the other fans about the book so if you are going to any of these, I advise you get there early!

Hopefully I'll be able to be a Tower Guard (wasn't picked for Storm Leader last time but will try again!).

Well I guess Florida is not a popular WoT epicenter. Oh well. They should call it the "couple of stops we made so that we could say we had a tour" tour. I hope you're right jennifer1 and they have a blowout tour to end it all next year.

FINALLY I live in a place worthy of a book tour stop. Anyone going to the Arundel Mills stop I'll see you there... EPIC WIN!

Second year in a row they don't come to Kansas. Come on guys, we're right smack dab in the middle of the country. You can't miss us.

Sweet, he's coming to Bailey's Crossroads again. And thankfully it's on a Saturday so I don't have to leave work early and fight through rush hour traffic to get there.

No University of Washington Bookstore in Seattle, WA, eh? That's too bad. I think RJ made it there for nearly all of the prior releases. Ah well. The important thing is that the book will be out soon.
