A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

Podcast: Episode 79: Interview with Team Jordan

Tialin

Team Jordan Interview! The 4th Age podcast presents Episode 79, a phone interview with Maria Simons and Alan Romanczuk, who are an integral part of Team Jordan. Alan and Maria were been assistants to Robert Jordan for many years before his passing, and they continue on with Harriet Rigney, RJ’s widow and editor, and Brandon Sanderson, the talented author, to bring us the conclusion of the amazing series of books that comprise The Wheel of Time.

We are still somewhat out of number sequence and very behind on posting episodes. Never fear – all of the podcasts in between WILL be posted now that the podcast page and the new Dragonmount server are playing nicely together.

ATTENTION! THERE MAY BE SPOILERS! No Towers of Midnight spoilers, but information from ALL the other books are VERY likely! There will be spoilers, just none for ToM! If you haven’t read all the way through the Wheel of Time, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS of all previous books! Maybe of other series, too…. we will try to give warning.

Special Guests: Maria Simon and Alan Romanczuk

Hosts: Andrew G, Virginia, Spencer and Marc

Editor: Jessie R

I like these podcasts, 'cos they can be quite informative and get the wheels turning in my head, and I get that you all do it for free and am very appreciative of that, but seriously, Virginia, quit the incessant inane giggling and talking over people, and let others get a word in edgeways sometimes.

I resubscribed to the new feed a few weeks back as well and had been getting the podcasts fine. However this one episode is throwing errors when trying to download.

Virginia rocks. She's most of the life in the podcasts. her personality is strong, and perfectly appropriate to the format, and to the WOT.

She does this for nothing (actually, it probably costs her money, so she does it for less than nothing), like all the dedicated people who create these shows, and she's always there, no matter what. seriously, i think she did a few epis with pneumonia.

please keep casting, and giggling, Virginia.

thank you.

I noticed the rss feed for the interview only has one media file location:

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/4thAge/~5/X-x6O3Sx-Mw/dm-4thAge-079.mp3

This brings back a 404 error message as it redirects to this page:

http://www.dragonmount.com/4thAge/audio/dm-4thAge-079.mp3

It should be fixed if someone could update the feed to point to:

http://www.dragonmount.com/Podcast/Media/dm-4thAge-079.mp3

I assume this is because of the server upgrade and old file locations being used in the new feed.

Once that's fixed iTunes feed should work.

Well that took my plain text and made a audio player of it.

Bad file location in the RSS: feedproxy.google.com/~r/4thAge/~5/X-x6O3Sx-Mw/dm-4thAge-079.mp3

Redirects to invalid (404) location: www.dragonmount.com/4thAge/audio/dm-4thAge-079.mp3

Hope this doesn't become a little audio player in the message this time

Hunter, this one was done pre ToM. Lots of the older episodes that were up on DM before the site change need to be posted again. At least I remember listening to this one a few months ago, so I think it was posted before.

Just a quick word in response to some of the posts above. Constructive criticism is appreciated and wanted, but please refrain from being cruel or rude. Find a respectful way to do it if you feel it needs to be done.

I for one love Virgina's enthusiasm and wouldn't want her any other way. Virgina has done amazing work with the podcast, and I am so grateful she came along. She is insanely reliable and spends a lot of her free time doing podcast related work. If it wasn't for her these episodes wouldn't be up right now. None of us get paid for the time we spend on the podcast, and we are only fans of WoT like all of you.

That said, we all do need to learn to try and give others a chance to talk or not talk over each other. I have cringed while listening to an episode where I noticing myself interrupting somebody and I had no idea while recording I had done it. We all get a little too excited with an idea or theory we have at times. It is something we will work on.

I believe the audiobooks get 99.9% of all the name pronunciations correct. Apparently Shaido is wrong. That's why some fans said it to Jordan incorrectly and got "the look".

Good to know, thanks for the heads up. They will always be SHY-DOH to me though. :p

I don't know why pronunciations were so set in stone in Jordan's mind. People from different parts of Randland (or other continents) have different accents and may pronounce words differently. Even in the original Star Wars trilogy, 'Han' and 'Leia' were pronounced two different ways depending on British vs American actors saying them.
