DM to produce multiple videos for AMOL

Dragonmount is proud to announce a partnership agreement with Tor books to produce multiple videos to promote A Memory of Light. Building on the success of the Towers of Midnight book trailer, Tor has commissioned us to produce multiple live-action videos for the final Wheel of Time novel.

In addition to these video "trailers", a collection of behind-the-scenes features will be produced, along with other associated media, prize give-aways and fun stuff. The campaign is expected to begin sometime near the end of 2011.

In case you missed it, DM produced a "book trailer" last year for the release of Towers of Midnight. It received strong positive reviews and quickly became Tor's most viewed video ever. You can read all about the making of the video (with video and photos) on our Behind the Scenes page.

A Memory of Light is the fourteenth and final novel in the WoT saga. No official release date has been announced, although it is expected sometime in 2012.

Production for these video will happen over the summer in California. If you're interested in helping with production, please send an email showing your interest with appropriate filmmaking or related skillsets to movies@dragonmount.com.

Very cool - there had been hints this might be the case, but confirmation of the rumours is cool nonetheless! Surely you will need a Cadsuane at some point to thump the Dragon Reborn about the ears! lol (j/k, j/k)

I never liked the voice over. Out of context is makes it seem like a romance novel. The visuals are great however, so I enjoy watching it with the sound off. Looking forward to the next ones.

Hunter:  we're very happy with the VO that Kate gave us for the ToM video. It's out intent for the AMOL videos to try a different approach though should we need VO's   :moiraine:

Jason, the voice in and of itself wan't bad. I just feel that the choice for the speech did not work properly out of context. While I know what it referenced, for anyone who didn't it would come off as some kind of romance novel. I meant no disrespect to Kate's work.

Speaking of AMOL, I just went to Brandon Sanderson's webpage, and he's started writing it! He is currently 2% done with the first draft! WOT FERVOR RESTORED! I feel like there was so much hype for the last book and then fan sites, blogs and forums just died immediately after the book came out (within a month). Happy to finally excited about WOT again lol.

Do not like voiceover! Does not sound like how the Morriane in WOT books is described. She's supposed to have a crystal like, melodious voice. This one just sounds like an old woman and definitely not melodious. Also, she's supposed to be very pretty. According to WOT books: Very short even for a Cairhien, but very beautiful. Yet, the image of the woman of the end has heavily mascaraed eyes and you can see makeup trying to unsuccessfully cover blemishes on nose and face. I'm very sorry to offend anyone. But I just read the whole WOT chronology at one shot, ending at Towers of Midnight, so my memories are very crisp and fresh. And Morraine certainly doesn't look or sound like the woman in this video, from descriptions in WOT books.

I just need to defend the actress that portrayed Moiraine for one second(who also is my best friend). She 5 feet tall and happens to be very lovely, there were no "blemishes" she has freckles on her nose. She had a layer of mascara on, she just has very long eyelashes. The people that made this trailer have been involved in the WoT community for years and have never stopped reading the books so its always fresh. I'm sad that you felt the need to hate, you are one of the only people who had anything negative to say about the actress in the thousands of comments that have been left over various sites. The people who edit the books, and Brandon Sanderson himself said there couldn't have been a more perfect girl chosen for the role, and that RJ himself would have loved her. Hopefully one day you can see what this is, a true labor of love...a trailer that was produced for the fans to get them excited and to make them happy.
Check us out on FaceBook, we are a group called Team Moiraine, maybe we can change your mind!
