I didn't truly believe he was. He was in my null, then slightly could-be-scum list. Did you even bother to go find that read list of mine you wanted?

Day 14 on the island

 

 

It was clear to the stranded that whoever they had been in life outside of the island, they weren't any longer. Now fancy schools and degrees didn't matter anymore. All that mattered was what you brought to the table in terms of practical skills. Some knew about plants, some knew how to tend to wounded, some were strong and did heavy lifting, some were good at building shelters. Most of the people on the island found their place in the little community of survivors. They found new friends, built new relationships.

 

That was most people.

 

Others were... struggling... their own way.

 

 

 

On a towel at the beach laid Shannon. She wasn't dealing too well with her new situation. In Shannon's world, beauty meant status, so she did her best to keep up appearances. Sunbathing, pedicures and a complete lack of practical knowledge made her a prime target for the other survivors' frustration. 

 

"What are you doing, Shannon?"

 

A young man plopped down next to her, unapproving look on his face.

 

"What does it look like I'm doing, Boone?"

 

"Why aren't you helping? We're trying to gather fruit and making more water basins to gather rain water. We could use an extra hand, even though you don't know how to do most things."

 

"It's SO easy for you to make fun of me, isn't it?"

 

"Yeah, you're kind of making it easy as well, lying here in the sun, giving yourself daily pedicures."

 

"You don't have ANY IDEA what it's like to be me! I've just been through a trauma! I'm going through stuff here!"

 

"We've ALL been through a trauma, Shannon! The difference is how we deal with it."

 

 

Shannon felt like she was going to cry, but she didn't want Boone to see, so she got up off her blanket.

 

"Well screw you! You think you're so great, like God's friggin' gift to humanity! I'm done!"

 

And with those words she stormed off into the jungle.

 

When she came into the jungle she didn't know what to do, so she wiped the tears off her face and looked around.

 

"Ok, fruit."

 

Ahead of her she saw a huge mango tree, so she decided to go there and pick some. Before she made it that far though, she heard a lot of thrashing through the jungle. She screamed and started running, but it was too late. 

 

A boar came out of nowhere and ripped a hole in her gut with its tusks.

 

A completely random attack.

 

Hallia has been killed. 

 

 

She was Shannon Rutherford, vanilla town.
