Celeste: who should we lynch today and why?

I'm really not sure because it looks like everybody is just townie and I need something more. A flip, a mislynch, even a slip so I don't make a mistake. What's really making me get sort of reaction like is that people won't even look at my other games here that I was mafia in except shad.

I prefer to just work in the current game. I try not to swayed meta if possible. I can't blame you for not being sure since I'm in same boat, but at least give a few names you're less sure of.

Look at my reads list, I don't really have strong scum reads. Let me ask you this then Do I look uniformed or informed in my posts?

If you were suspicious of someone a claim should not change your position.

 

That said, in this specific case I believe Turin.

I'm asking you because you have him negative right now but you believe his claim. He's done nothing to show he's town. Even if someone is busy, they can town tell in the few posts they're able to have. It's not the effort that someone puts in, it's how they do it when they are around.

Everyone else is more or less fair game. If I had to choose someone to lynch, I would have wanted to go after Turin, but atm I have no reason to doubt his hardclaim. Meh.

Zander is now firmly town for me. That was some proper work on the Wish ISO. If everyone is still convinced Shad is not a candidate for today then I would be most willing to switch to Wish.

Shad has been in my town pile so I won't be voting him. I'm not sold on you however and I'm more willing to follow my strong town read, Pizza, onto you. Why shouldn't you be the lynch today?

Anyway yes I liked the case and had Turin in my bottom. I've also since said I'd lynch from Csarmi, Wish (mostly since I don't know how to read her and I did like your case against her), Celeste (for what's been said previously and Pizza's case against her). No longer Nol though.

First things first, I haven't played very frequently with many people.

 

I'd like to say from initial post reads, my two solid town reads are Cass and Celeste.

 

Enthusiasm and involvement looking good from Cass.

 

Celeste is town because of her tone. You'll have to trust me on this. Played with her a lot.

Really you have not 1 but 2 SOLID towns reads atp???!!! I mean I know you've played with them before as you mentioned but I don't think theres any way they could be solid reads with the content they provided to this point.  I'd actually like to hear what CassGOATENFPANDMUSICTWIN and Penny have to say about this.  And the whole "you'll have to trust me" part is pretty Meh imo. 

 

I actually do this quite a lot. I've been playing turbos for my past few games, and took a really long hiatus from standard, long games, so I'm used to having to read people within their first 5-10 posts. I understand why you think that there's no way I'd have solid reads at this point, but you can ask Cass. I solved the game she was in (I was in the spectator chat) just by reading the first ten or so posts from each player. Well, I was wrong on one person, so there you have it.

Ok here she start's to add a little substance to her Penny read.  It's kinda funny to me tho, that she uses her sussing her as a reason for Town reading her cause she does the same thing with me later on.

 

Zander, certain people have different tells wrt their reads of me. Penny tends to buddy me as scum, and scum-read me as town. This game, however, I think that her read on me is actually genuine. She sometimes messes up her read on me (of the two of us, I read her better than she does me). Initially, it's quite easy to buddy me by town reading me, and scum often take advantage of this. I was fooled consecutively in a few games because of this, so I learned to become more cautious. Now, someone town reading me very strongly causes me to doubt their intentions, but I still easily town read people for town reading me, unless there's specific meta that tells me that's probably not a good idea.

 

This is to clarify my town read on Celeste.

Don't call me crazy. This is a combo of tone and meta.

She's honest and to the point as town. Even if she joke votes, it's not done with a certain flippant attitude that I see when she's scum. More sass would be scummy, and usually she's super calm as well.

 

 

More substance to her read of Penny.  What I note from this is the honest comment...I mean HOW could you ACTUALLY know shes being honest with anything for CERTAIN......

 

Nothing's certain... But I do know that when Penny tries to lie to me, she's pretty obvious. She inserts a lot of fluff into her posts. As town, she uses shorter, declarative statements and does not put much other content into her posts. She's gotten mislynched several times for doing so.

Can you answer my question about the whole note taking thing? That's a bit random and one of the only things I was really confused about when catching up this morning.

 

 

 

I know this MAY be nothing but I find it strange she keeps bringing up the note taking thing from Pizza when its pretty obv not relevant to game solve or alignment.  It seems like a distraction that is completely unneeded.

 

No one answered my question... so I kept bringing it up. Pizza even acknowledges this later when he said he didn't answer my question. I was not in the game at that point, so I was pretty confused as to why the note-taking thing was relevant. Again, I feel like this is a weird focus.

Besides Cass and Celeste, I'm feeling good about Pizza, I think. Mainly because he's doing a lot of questioning, explaining his reasoning (even if I don't quite agree). Maybe Laine. Her attitude seems natural and relaxed, which is good if I compare it to that one game we were scum together in.

 

I'm gradually gathering reads about other people, but at this point, I haven't caught any scummy behavior. I suppose I could go back to opening posts and look for forced behavior or kind of off tone.

 

I hate that - relying on gut stuff. I prefer the head processes that involve the brain.

 

 

This here is something that REALLY REALLY sticks out to me.  Because as I will show.  She keeps asking and relying of Gut read stuff even though she dislikes it.  Me not like-y the contradictions!!!

 

As I already explained... I HATE RELYING ON GUT STUFF. BUT IT WORKS, SO I DO IT.

 

I prefer to be seen as completely logical and well-thought out. I think of myself in that way. But sometimes, it's not as reliable, because I tend to overanalyze and then mess up my reads in that manner.

Yeah, from reading his posts once I joined. They seem a bit forced. What reads do you have?

I'm liking Cass, you, Pizza, maybe Lainey.

Reservations on calling Shad town or scum until he comes back to defend himself.

You did give some reasons for your read of Penny but what about the rest...lazy reads with no reasoning,  And again with the "people not talking to me"  sounds like an excuse for not giving a read.

I've been called out for this many times before. When I read the thread, I post my notes in the thread. Stream of consciousness posting. You may read if you like, because I like to show my progression of reads. Please ask Penny about the player named Earthious. In fact, I do a very similar thing as compared to her. The reason I don't post my reasons is because I'm not sure yet of my reads, as they can change even as I'm writing up a post. I may start writing a post, but as I'm thinking about it, my read on player x changes because I approach them in a different way, or something they post right before I post causes me to change my reads. It's difficult for me to post a reason every single time I make a read, as even a very small action can cause my read of someone to change. That's why I prefer to stick to gut, because those reads do not change. 

 

From what I've read so far, you just have a very fundamental dislike of my playstyle, and I think we can agree to disagree about what's scummy.

 

 

 

Not quoting Turin/Pizza, but huh...
Two different interpretations of the same scenario - Pizza felt that the Shad explanation/reaction to the meta thing was towny, while Turin felt that it was scummy.
These are gut feels, right? No real basis? If not, please explain. The post rang null to me personally, but uhh, I would like to know why you think this.

 
I went into it, the reason I have is that it lacks a motive.
 
I feel almost every post a scumbag does has a motive or a reason to manipulate someone.
 
If hes scum he's got an idea of what to say there that advances his agenda.
 
It's not particularly strong as a tell but it's more than null to me.

Keep in mind it was page 1. There will be a lot of posts on page 1 and many of the early pages which lack a motive. Most of the first few pages are garbage posts.

 

I read them anyway just in case. Shad was an exception to my usual nulls that early.

Dont like excuses.  You mention this more then once.  Like I caught with Shad in WE....not disputing RL stuff or calling you a liar but the MORE times a person FEELS the need to make excuses is because they're usually not Town and are trying to hide somewhat behind them.

 

I always feel the need to make excuses if I am not posting as much as I would like to.  I think it's unfair to the mod(s) and the other players for me not to be putting my full effort into a game.

Contradictions are not inherently scummy. I think you're trying too hard to pull at straws, but that in itself isn't scummy.

 

I clarified why I tone read and hate it. It works, so I do it. I'd much rather prefer to use my brain, but that often leads to WIFOM. Also, I'd like for a chance to use my brain, thank you very much. Going to reread the Shad bit, because I am not convinced atm.

 

I still want to town read you, but this kind of nitpicking/TMI makes me a little reluctant. I admit that there's some confirmation bias, because I have a tendency to town-read people who call me town.

Hyperactive Cass, overly excited. Seems towny. At first in other games I was wary of town-reading her, because I tend to find excitement rather contrived, but it's kind of her modus operandi.

 

So here you say you have a problem with excitement being faked/scummy/contrived but its ok from Cass but in a minute here when talking about me.....(see big bolded part on me)

 

Um, I also said it was fine for you? Also, I know Cass a lot better than you, and have read more of her games, so it makes sense that I'd town read her for excitement, which is something I've seen demonstrated over her past town games.

Current thoughts on these two are that there's ?probably too much interaction and Town-Town calling there for them to be W-W. Lenlo possibly a more likely candidate for non-Town (but this with full disclosure that I'm reading Lenlo much the same as everything I read of his in the Diablo game and he flipped Town).

 

@Laine, can you explain 'being cute' and why it was important to you? Ie - what's your assessment of the cuteness in relation to initial reads?

 

 

 

I like the bolded part at this point in the game, but the underlined part feels like a stretch to me. Don't really like it.

 

I'm pretty sure Laine at this point means that it was just a cute thing... And to single this interaction out instead of Laine's earlier comment on Cass randing wolf, which was also done jokingly, doesn't make much sense to me.

 

I'm slightly wary of Alanna right now...

Also, to clarify your question about why I say that I like using my brain versus using tone/gut -- it makes more sense logically to use my brain, but honestly, both are factored in if I use my intuition. Intuition is just harder to explain -- and that should probably give you an indication as to why. (And I'm pretty sure I answered this question already, even if in a different way. Please read, since it makes me annoyed that you aren't, and I honestly don't think it's fair to scum read you because you're ignoring posts that would explain the questions you ask about other posts.)

 

When have I been ignoring your posts Len???  You said you didnt like gut reads.  Yet its all your basing things off of.  Intuition is harder to explain if youre playing with TMI......and using gut reads when you a)said you dont like them b) cant find actual decent legitimate reasons for your reads is much easier.  Especially since youre NOT a gut read player according to....YOU yourself.

Looked at Celeste in TUS and Ragnarok, didn't notice a stark difference except that she stayed a lot more cool in Rag under pressure. Seems like her reasons for voting people in those games are pretty non-descript: gut, tone, inactivity, etc.  She wasn't able to supply much reason here either, but she got feisty with Zander confusing her name and later with the whole line of questioning surrounding her unvote in a manner that I don't see in those two games.  She's irritated that people are suspicious of her here.  She didn't seem to be in those games, but she also wasn't under heavy fire early.  I didn't take much from the ISO but her attitude under pressure here is a potential town sign.

 

 

I feel better about her after ISO'ing WIsh.  I feel like Wish is pocketing her which would prolly make sense for one of them to do if the other was Town imo.

 

 

Could be that I'm pocketing her, but as scum, I would not risk my life for Celeste. XD I usually turn on her earlier.
