Lillen Moiral sat at a table in the quartermaster tent, accounts strewn on the table around her. A small ball of light hung in front of her illuminating the scrawled notes and numbers.

 

She sighed, her most recent investment had been lost when Mar Ruois fell, and somehow she had to cover that up. With a satisfied sigh she added a digit to the number of shoelaces ordered, sat back and stretched.

 

Without warning the light above faltered and she found herself shielded. Quelling an internal scream she stood and turned, physically shaking and instantly despising whoever was in the tent with her. Latra Posae stood there self confident and Lillen knew she could never break free from someone who stood that much above her.

 

"You stand accused of embezzlement" the Aes Sedai said sounding bored "how do you plead?"

 

Lillen stared sullenly at the ground before she was lead out of the tent under guard.

 

 

 

A few weeks later she sat cowering against the cells wall, tears of frustration and fear running unchecked down her face. She was no longer shielded there was no need for one who had been severed, soon after she'd been arrested her embezzlement discovered, the camp was attacked and lost due to the missing weapons. The charges of embezzlement became charges of treason, intentional or otherwise.

 

Thirteen Aes Sedai filed out of the room, she didn't know which of them had done the deed but she vowed revenge on all thirteen of them, knowing how futile it was. A diminutive Ads Sedai scuttled into the room, offering clean clothes, food and water.

 

Then something changed. She felt alive again, tentatively she reached for the source and it was there. She sat still for a few seconds in disbelief then wove a fireball and blasted through the door picking her way over the debris.

 

The town was in uproar, the battle camp was on fire. Against the sky she recognised Sammaels banners and she hid as battling Aes Sedai and Dreadlords fought in the streets. With a horrified fascination she saw the new weave, saw the people struck disappear into motes of nothing seemingly before they actually died.

 

Almost troubled by this new weave, memorising it almost absent mindedly, she wove a gateway to a small village near the current border and walked casually towards Sammaels Camp.

Lews Therin scowled at the paperwork in front of him, Lillen had covered her tracks well and picking through the damage she'd done before it destroyed them was time consuming and ultimately futile. There wasn't the time, Sammael was already taking advantage of their camps which were understrength, the damage done by Moiral discovered too late to save the soldiers.

 

From outside the tent came a gentle plucking of strings

 

"Joar" he said gladly as the man walked into the tent

 

"Lews Therin" the man said quietly, plucking away.

 

"What's that you're playing?" Lews Therin asked.

 

"The saga of 'The Bore'" he answered, "I composed it myself"

 

"It's good" Lews Therin said and for a moment Joar smiled, a genuine smile...

 

"Not as good as that ditty you did, remember about the female Aes Sedai?" Lews laughed and Joar forced himself to join in. "Your 'Cycles of the Moon' is probably the best you've done though" Lews trailed off as he pounced on a paper, finally spotting the mistake "thank you my friend".

 

"My pleasure" Joar bowed as he backed out of the tent.

 

He'd written Cycles of the Moon when he was 12, and the ditty had been a joke, yet that was all people remembered. He ground his teeth then abruptly stopped. If he needed immortality to surpass his younger self then there was only one place to get it...

We kinda lost an entire day because of the Calder lynch. That's annoying.
