Mish, I actually am thinking of this:

Loki may actually be cult leader/recruiter. Look at opening post:

“Loki remains free, and we must continue to be vigilant. But he is alone now, and we are safe.”

~~Alone for now? Hmmm....

“Think you so, father? Think you so?” The laughter, mocking and tinged with insanity and pain, seemed to swell from every corner of the room, and from nowhere. “All your wisdom, gained at such cost, and you are still too blind to truly see me for what I am.”

~~This seems like such flavor. Everywhere and nowhere, see me for what I am. This is beginning to sound scarily alike to one of my games that I've gotten approved to run on my homesite, actually. That's not a good thing.

Chaos magics lashed the room, striking nearly everyone in it, including the four at its center. “My armies are gone, but you have brought my agents among you. Here, into Asgard’s very heart. And we shall see how you fare.” With a mad laugh, and a flare of power that knocked the room’s occupants to the ground, Loki’s voice was gone.

~~Loki has agents. Some people are immune to being recruited. But the 'four' at the center: Laufey, Surtr, the Fenris Wolf, and World Serpent, are not immune.

As the Asgardians stood, groaning, they looked at each other – and themselves – in disbelief. Cloaked in illusion, they could not tell friend from foe. Cloaked in illusion, they could not even be sure of themselves. And among their number, five filled with anticipation.

~~Can't tell friend from foe. Investigation results may be tampered with? Can't be sure of themselves -- seems indicative to me of alignment switching.

What is the significance of the last line? 5 filled with anticipation...?

No.

Loki Win Condition - You win only by being the last man standing

(Note: Yeah, I know, the opening scene makes it seem Loki and the scum are together. They aren't)

Kivam is not bastard modding.  He gave us Loki's win condition - he didn't have to, and if it was a cult game, his win condition would be something else altogether and he probably wouldn't have posted it.

So no to Mish's hypothesis and my hypothesis?

:((((

But the flavor is so on point... >.<

True. But I'm paranoid by nature, so it'll still be a possibility in my mind. But it's excedingly small possibility.

I have some free time now, so a couple of things. From people's reactions, I understand it's the general rule here that a vigkill goes through even if they die?

I don't know about this. "Everywhere and nowhere"  and the line about "see me for what I am", to me, sound like they're simply referring to Loki being concealed among the players. The idea of Loki being recruiter is interesting, but the OP states that the Mafia and Loki have no connection despite the flavor. I don't think the last line has much significance, then.

Well until we see if those of us who got a response back get the same type of response D3, it's hard to say if it's just our targets that's getting messed with, or roles.

Scenario A, targets, means:

I am a follower (this is hypothetical, I can't confirm exactly what kind of result I got, Kiv's order), I target player 1, but get randomly redirected to player 5 and get results about them instead. When Loki dies, I will get the results of the player I target.

Scenario B, roles, means:

I am a follower and I target player 1. But as long as Loki is alive, roles and results gets messed up. So we say player 2 is a vig and target player 3. Then after all NA's are in, they are put into random.org and changed around. So mine and player 2's roles get switched around. That means that technically I targeted player 3 with a vig kill, and player 2 targeted player 1 with an follower action, and get the result from that.

Did that make sense?

I see both as just as likely scenarioes. Ragnarok means complete chaos, after all. And consider the OP of the sign up thread where one of the JN players who played in this said Kiv had a "sick, sick mind to think up a game as this", we can't see anything as too unlikely.

I think so. In Scenario B, when you switch with player 2, you keep player 2's role until the next round?

In scenario B I think all roles are randomized again each night. Let's use Dice as an example to go from, since we know his role. His true role is vig, and after Loki died, he would have been able to use his power as normal.

Until then, Dice would submit a name (or choose to submit none) each night. So say Dice chose to submit an action on Len. That means a vig kill is submitted on Len. At the same time, Tress' true role is Hider. She submits an action targeted at Tina. So a Hider action is submitted on Tina. Tina on the other hand, has the true role of roleblocker. She submits an action on Dice, meaning a rolebock has been submitted on Dice.

When the list of NA's are in we have this:

Vig Len

Hide with Tina

Roleblock Dice

Into random.org the list goes... And the result is this:

The vig on Len is given to Tina.

The roleblock on Dice is given to Tress.

The Hide with Tina is given to Dice.

In other words: Everyone submits an action for their trule role. But after all actions are in, they are randomized so that even though your true role is a vig, that night you will perform a investigate action. I'm still not sure if I managed to explain it properly.

But, I still think scenario A is the most likely. But again, we'll know on the beginning of D3, when we'll see if those of us who got result this night will get them then too.

Blue: Refers to Loki being third party

What I've mark with pink, I think is only flavour for the scene. As Tress and Eld pointed out, the wincon doesn't match with cult. I'm sorry I mentioned it, I shouldn't have. It's distracting.

The five filled with anticipation is Loki and the mafia (d'oh, I should've remembered it was explicity pointed out as four in the OP when I talked about number of mafias earlier), and they're filled with anticipation of the chance of Ragnarok happening I guess.

Friend from foe =  simply flavour for "town don't know who the mafia is" Im guessing. "Not even sure of themselves" and chaos magic refer to us knowing for sure what our roles are (that will go for the mafia too, I'm 99% sure of)

How do you feel about me today? You seem to have abandonded your pursuit of me.

I'm still not entirely awake, and I'm feeling a little under the weather. I haven't abandoned my pursuit. I was distracted by the shiny setup. Well, the things that I thought I was seeing. It may be that way in your posts too. :(

Kivam's masterful. He's causing me to doubt him/myself while not even doing a single thing. >.<

We've had this discussion outside the game before... On DM, mods will not lie to the players unless it's advertised as a bastard game.  This is an advanced game, and that means there may be (and obviously are) crazy roles and mechanics in play.  The mod is allowed to conceal things from the players, but anything he tells us straight out we can take to the bank as true - which means that Loki's win condition is as advertised, last man standing.

Sorry, I know mods get upset when people assume that there's some bastard mechanics in their game. (also, I don't consider having a hidden cult a bastard mechanic, but yolo)

I chewed some other players out as well when they assumed something similar. I'll stop. :/

Like Tress said, I don't think so. Kiv did say that scum and Loki were not together.

It's not so much that a hidden cult is a bastard mechanic - although I know a few people who feel that way - but if Loki were a cult leader, his win condition would not be last man standing, and Kivam wouldn't have given us Loki's wincon at all if he wanted cult to remain hidden.   He wouldn't have lied - he didn't have to publicly post anyone's win condition, fwiw.

I wanna hear from other people before I take action.

But FoS Lenlo

Why should he know if he got nothing back from Kiv. I didn't know either, but then I refused to submit a name.

Note - No deadline will be set for D2 until after the labor day weekend, since I'll be in Canada for a family bar mitzvah and will only have sporadic internet access

When is Labour Day?...not all are from the US and have no idea when this will be...thanks

Celeste and I targeted John Snow but we received no result from Kivam.

Also, I wasn't trying to put the blame on Cory, Mish. I think you're misinterpreting me. :/

Does that mean he told you you had a no result, or you didn't get a PM back?

I would have thought that Cory would have been a better target than Dice, but by the looks of things, it may not be as straight forward as that by the sound of what others are saying.

I'm looking at Mish as being more towny after their chat about night actions.

Won't be doing much else today, College day is over 11 hours for me and just got home so tired :p
