The six who remained were all on the ship now, chasing one another and shouting down the passageways, doors slamming and echoes ringing from the metal all around.

 

Two of them had darted into the long, narrow room from opposite sides, closing the doors behind them at nearly the same moment.  Each heard the metallic clang from the opposite end of the room, and instinctively fired a shot, ducking around the massive equipment lined up along the center of the space.  Both realized their mistake at the same moment - ricochet.

 

Two bullets pinged from the walls and the enclosures, until one found a home.
