I'm not the jokey type when I feel like a person is after me just because of something about my slot and not my play, no. This is my first full game in ages and I really want to play it, not be lynched because I had to hydra to be able to play. Yes, really.  Trying very hard to stick to the PG13 guidelines here.  So ... no stuff, my very first ingame vote, made what, an hour? after the game opened had nothing to do with content from this game.  Nobody's vote at that stage ever has anything to do with anything from the current game.  So people are getting on me because I posted a ventvote instead of a jokevote? One interpretation of this post is; "I'm voting for Pral BECAUSE he likes to lurk as scum and hasn't even checked in yet."

That's the interpretation I had.

However, another interpretation is; "I'm voting for Pral since nobody is doing anything else and I like to prod lurkers when I don't have better things to do with my vote. ALSO, he likes to lurk as scum. Let's make him post a lot."

This was not an interpretation that immediately came to mind but is one that seems to be implied by his defense posts. I kind of didn't want to spell it out since it would have been better if HE had said something like this. Also, I could be wrong about this interpretation.

Still, the second interpretation seems like it could be implied if you string together this, this, this, this, this, and this. It's like he's answering suspicion without even realizing that we are all assuming the first interpretation - ie. he's unaware of why his post is being read as an accusation. But if you reread those links with the second interpretation in mind? I can buy it.

If you want to call it an arbitrary list, that's fine. But I'm also doing what works for me, and will in no way be using LAH to avoid giving reads elsewhere. I really hate hydras (we're at 81 pages and d1 isn't over) and if I can find the scum in those 8 slots (it's unlikely there are none on the scum team), then I'll pat myself on the back and move on. I don't think it's a bad way to play FOR ME and in THIS GAME because I tend to get lost in larger games and this could help.

 

As for reading hydras better: we have twice the opportunity to see scum plays/slips with two people in a slot rather than one. Don't you think that increases chances? Additionally, I tend to read some people better than others, so pairing generally null slots with people I read better is also helpful.

You agreed with Seph and added that I was still sitting on it. This implies that I was still sitting on a joke vote. But I wasn't, and if you had read my posts you would know that. Green is how you're explaining the vote now.  And this could potentially be an honest opinion. But it's incompatible with the reason you gave when you voted me.

I was pointing out where something she said didn't make much sense and in order to "lecture others while doing the same thing" I would have had to do something like push a lynch on Zander/Seph all day explicitly for the lulz.  Context aside I was "sitting" for a grand 13 hours at the very start of the game.   And gut ping is a sufficiently "proper" reason to vote when we're baby steps out of the hello phase.

 

Why do you have an issue with me voting your hydra when I don't have an issue with Kiv, and where do you get to me making it look like Seph "completely misrepresented" me?

 

As for Seph on the matter, I've played with him before.  He's prone to saying the first thing that pops into his head, and calling me out for p22 hypocrisy there is honestly kind of null bordering on townie.  I'm told his scum game is more calculated.

 

I'm not in the mood to argue about what you think I implied or not.  I checked your post when Seph pointed it out, I thought the reason for you keeping the vote sounded bogus (or should I say: the nonexistant reason).  I'm sure it's way more convenient for you to paint it this way, so have fun. I'm done arguing this for today.
