He lived and died for the town. A fire burning brightly, fading fast. A light temporarily cast into the shadows of humanity, consumed like everything else in time. Sir Percival was a noble representative of this round table, a knight of our order and a friend.

Respect and honor.

Scum, why wouldn't you put me out of my misery. :(

Because we love you. Best. Vig shot. Ever.

Also, we had to get rid of PR's and Town leaders. Once we made Clov vanilla, we knew BFG wasn't a threat. Darthe was fairly obviously VT. So it was between you and Leelou. Leelou was Loved so we didn't want to be in a situation where Dice could side with Town and win!

With the way I voted I feel like an honorary scum member.

I don't think the nk would have made a difference?

Dice you can't really vote me.  Someone is on fire at Ramsitt Park and they need you to get down there right away.  Unvote, we'll pretend the first never happened and you can get back to us later.

Arthur was just removing his sword belt when Guinevere burst into the royal chambers, slamming the doors shut behind her. "Arthur! I've just heard that you had Percival arrested? You can't think he's the traitor!"

Arthur sighed, setting his sword aside. "I had no choice, Guinevere."

"Percival was nearly killed when those bandits attacked him and Lancelot on the road," Guinevere said furiously. "Unless his evil scheme went horribly awry, I find it hard to believe that he was behind it all!"

"Guinevere, I don't really think that he was behind any of it," Arthur broke in. "Unfortunately, I received an anonymous letter from someone who claims they have knowledge of Percival's involvement in the murders. I had to arrest him, just to be on the safe side. But I don't think-"

"An anonymous letter?" Guinevere raised an eyebrow. "Don't you think that's a bit suspicious?"

"I think it's entirely suspicious," Arthur admitted, "but it's just to be safe. In the meantime, we can look into this claim and investigate Percival, while he's locked up. That's all. No more hasty executions - we won't have Percival wrongfully put to death like Bedivere was."

"And besides investigating Percival," Guinevere said, folding her arms across her chest, "don't you think we should investigate who sent this letter?"

Arthur opened his mouth to reply, but before he could, someone said -

"That won't be necessary."

Arthur and Guinevere both turned sharply towards the antechamber, as a woman dressed in fine gold silks stepped into view - a woman familiar to both of them. She was a short, small woman, but somehow always radiated a tremendous sense of presence, the kind of woman it was impossible to ignore. She wore a gold crown atop her dark head of hair, and Arthur recognized the crown - it was Guinevere's, which she almost never wore. He didn't know why Morgause was wearing it, or where she'd gotten it from, but a chill ran down his spine when he saw it.

"Morgause," he said, trying to keep his voice steady, "what are you doing here?"

Morgause widened her eyes in a picture of innocence. "Can't I come to visit my brother without a reason?"

"I meant, what are you doing here, in these chambers," Arthur said through a clenched jaw. "Who let you in here?"

"I let myself in, brother dear." Morgause came around a long, low table and slunk towards him. "It really wasn't all that difficult."

"What did you mean?" Guinevere asked sharply. "That it wouldn't be necessary for us to investigate-"

"-who sent you that letter about Percival?" Morgause cut in. "I should think my meaning was quite obvious, Guinevere. It won't be necessary because I sent the letter." She stretched her lips in the semblance of a smile, though it didn't reach her cold eyes.

"You sent the letter?" Arthur stared at his half-sister, dread settling in his gut like a stone.

"Oh, I should have known." Guinevere moved forward as though to lunge at Morgause, but then stepped back, as though thinking better of it. "Percival's not involved in this at all, is he? This was all you, Morgause. You committed those murders-"

"Not exactly," Morgause said. She looked entirely unconcerned by the accusation. "I only just arrived in Camelot this morning."

"So you had someone else committing the murders for you," Arthur said, "someone here in the castle-"

"Yes." Morgause's smile vanished in an instant, as she turned to face Arthur head-on. Her expression was merciless. "And unless you want that someone doing the same thing to dear Percival, I suggest you sit down and listen to my terms, Arthur."

Guinevere and Arthur exchanged a single, quick glance. He saw the same alarm in Guinevere's eyes that was rushing through him. With the barest nod of his head, they both moved in unison. Guinevere dove for Arthur's sword, leaning in the corner, while Arthur turned to escape out the side door. He had to get to Percival before Morgause's agent could, he couldn't lose another friend-

But Morgause was too quick for the both of them. She thrust a hand out and, with a flick of her wrist and a whispered incantation, sent Guinevere flying before she could reach the sword. Guinevere slammed back against the wall, hard, and fell to the floor in a heap, barely moving. Arthur turned to her, panic racing through him, but before he could take another step, Morgause turned her magic on him, raising a hand towards him. She splayed her palm out wide and then closed it, clenching it in a fist, and all at once, Arthur found he couldn't breathe. He staggered to his knees, clutching at his throat, struggling desperately to take in air.

"I told you to sit down and be quiet." Slowly, Morgause advanced upon him, still holding her clenched fist raised before him. "This is what you're going to do, Arthur. You are going to make me queen. Since you already refused my offer of marriage, then you will step aside and abdicate to me. And if you don't-" Her eyes glinted cruelly "-then Percival will suffer the same fate as so many of your other friends. The valiant Lancelot, that hack of a sorceress, and-"

"Gawaine," Arthur gasped. "He was your son-you killed your own son-"

"I did what I had to do," Morgause said. "He was no son of mine, not anymore. I had no hold over him. He was too enamored of you. So. What will it be, Arthur? Will you accept my offer to abdicate?"

Arthur chanced a quick look across the room, out of the corner of his eye, and saw Guinevere crawling onto her hands and knees, inching her way towards his sword in the corner. "Never," he managed to say, as his witch of a sister eased up on his airway, just enough to let him speak. "Percival is a friend, and a brave and true knight, but he will face whatever you send against him. I won't abandon my kingdom to you."

Morgause's expression twisted. "Oh, yes, you will, Arthur. If not willingly, then I will take it from you."

Across the room, Guinevere had reached the sword. She snatched it up in a flash and moved like lightning, lunging for Morgause's unprotected back. But Morgause moved at the last second, spinning around with a gasp. She darted to the side, and the edge of the sword sliced across her arm, which she'd thrown up to protect herself. Arthur struggled to get to his feet to help Guinevere, but Morgause was a skilled witch; even as she was being attacked, she had loosed her hold on Arthur, keeping him on his knees, choking for air.

"How dare you," Morgause seethed, facing Guinevere now. She began to raise her other arm against Guinevere.

Guinevere raised Arthur's sword, leveling it at Morgause. "Why don't you stop hiding behind your paltry magic, Morgause," she said, her voice like iron, "and face me as though you actually have some courage?"

Morgause stood in profile to Arthur, but he could see the sneer that spread across her face even so. "I don't have to." She looked to her left, her eyes gleaming with triumph.

Arthur turned to look too. And that was when he saw another familiar figure, stepping out of the shadows behind Guinevere - King Lot, Morgause's husband. He had a sword in hand as well. Before Arthur could even try to draw breath to give warning, Lot thrust his blade forward, sliding it straight through Guinevere. Arthur's queen let out a terrible, strangled sound of pain, her entire body seizing up like a doll.

"No!" Arthur gasped. "Guinevere-"

Somehow, her eyes found Arthur's face. Arthur stared at her desperately, unwilling to look away, as though he could keep her upright, keep her alive, by the sheer force of his gaze. But then Lot jerked the blade up, slicing it through Guinevere's chest with a horrible ripping sound. Guinevere's eyes bulged, and Arthur knew she couldn't see him, or anything, anymore. As Lot pulled his sword free, Guinevere fell to her knees. She wavered upright for a moment, until Lot kicked her over with the tip of his boot. She slumped to the floor.

Dead.

"About time," Morgause snarled, turning a glare on her husband. "Did you have to wait until she drew blood?"

Lot smiled a chilling smile. "You had it handled."

Arthur gasped in a breath and said, "I - will kill you - for this-"

Morgause turned back to him. She raised her closed fist and stepped forward, until she stood right before him. Crouching down to look him in the eye, she said, "No, Arthur. I will kill you."

Slowly, she tightened her fist and watched her brother choke to death on nothing but her own power.

Down in a dark dungeon cell, Percival waited, his hands shackled together. Anger coursed through him. He didn't know why he'd been arrested, though he'd heard Bors mention something about a letter sent to Arthur. Someone was obviously trying to frame him, and he needed to speak to Arthur. He needed to make sure Arthur knew he'd done nothing, and would never betray him.

He looked up as he heard a key jingling in the lock. Slowly, the door to his cell creaked open. Percival blinked as a dim light flooded into his cell, the glare momentarily blinding him. "Who's there?"

"Hello, Sir Percival."

Percival blinked, surprised and confused as a woman materialized before him. He took in her long, black hair, the green eyes set in a dark face. It was a moment before he recognized her. "Lady Morgan? What are you doing here? I didn't realize you were back in Camelot."

"I arrived just last night." Morgan's face was unsmiling. "I heard about the trouble here in the castle, and came to help Arthur. I think I might know who's been behind these murders - I told Arthur you couldn't have anything to do with it." She held out a hand to him. "He send me. He's waiting to talk to you. Will you come?"

Percival eyed her narrowly. "Why did he send you? Why not a guard?"

"The guards have been...distracted," Morgan said. "Arthur doesn't want anyone knowing he's going to speak with you - he doesn't want to tip off the real traitor in the castle. This will have to be in secret." She flicked her wrist impatiently. "Now will you come, before the guards return?"

Percival eyed her a moment longer before he stood, disdaining her hand, and followed her out in the dungeon corridor. Just as she'd said, there wasn't a guard in sight. Morgan led him to the very end of the hallway, into a corner swathed in shadows. A figure stepped forward out of the shadows, a figure dressed from head to toe in black armor.

Percival frowned, not recognizing the armor. "That's not Arthur. Where is he?"

"Well, actually-" The knight in black reached up, and removed his helmet, revealing his face "-by now, he's probably dead."

Percival stared. The knight in black was Sir Mordred. As Mordred shook his dark hair back out of his face, the full impact of his words hit Percival. "Dead? Arthur, dead? What are you talking about, Mordred? What are you doing here? Why-" He broke off, shaking his head. "If Arthur's in danger, we have to get him." He spun around to go, but found Morgan blocking his way.

"We have to go," Percival said to her, frustrated.

"No." A slow smile spread across her face. "We really don't."

Percival stared at her. Then he turned around, facing Mordred, and found the knight with a similar smile on his face. "It was you," Percival said slowly. "You...Mordred...you killed all those people? Lady Nimue - Gawaine, your own brother! - and Tristan and Isolde-"

"Actually, I can't claim the credit for those two," Mordred said, sounding bored with the whole conversation.

"No," Percival said suddenly, "it can't have been you. I've seen you fight, Mordred. You might be good with a sword, but you never could have beaten Lancelot. You can't have killed him."

"Actually, I didn't kill him, either." Mordred shrugged. "Though I gave him a good fight. You're right, he nearly got the best of me. Luckily -" He tossed a nod in Morgan's direction "-my dear aunt turned up just in time to help me."

"You..." Percival turned back to Morgan. He was shaking with anger, so much so that he almost felt as though he could break out of the shackles on his wrists. "Of course. You always hated Lancelot."

"Yes, I did. And now he's dead." Morgan raised her hand, and with a sharp twist of her wrist, Percival's head swung clean around, his neck snapping with a crack. "And now you are, too."

I think it's hilarious that Clov was Arthur (for most of it) and I was Guinevere.

I know, right? It didn't hit me until I actually sent you your role PM. I thought it was adorable :P
