Guinevere paced back and forth across the bed chamber, her arms folded across her chest. "Maybe I was wrong," she said. "Maybe I should never have begun this."

"You weren't wrong." Arthur, sitting on the bed, leaned his head against the backboard. "I think four murders in the last two nights prove you weren't wrong. We can't back away from this investigation now."

"You yourself said that Nimue's death might not mean there's trouble for you," Guinevere reminded him. "You said she had a lot of enemies."

"That was before Tristan and Isolde were also found dead," Arthur pointed out. "And if you'll recall, I also said that whoever killed Nimue it must have been someone extremely dangerous. For all that I disliked her-" He grimaced "-I have to admit that she was very powerful."

"And Gawaine," Guinevere went on, as though she hadn't heard a word he said, "Gawaine has always been rash. He might've gotten into another argument with someone, and started something without thinking-"

"Gawaine might have been rash," Arthur said sadly, "but he didn't go around fighting people in corridors in the middle of the night. Yes, he started many fights, some of them ill-advised, but he always followed the proper channels and issued a challenge, to fight in front of witnesses. And if he did start something, then why didn't the killer come forward? Gawaine would have been in the wrong, in that case."

Guinevere sighed and came to a halt. She sank onto a chair in the corner, her shoulders slumping a little. "It's my fault Sir Bedivere is dead."

"If it is, then it's my fault as well," Arthur said firmly. "The evidence was stacked against him. And he'd been acting strangely, he hadn't been at all himself." He straightened, sitting upright. "Maybe we just need to try a different approach. There must be a traitor in the castle, that seems obvious now. And it very well may be one of knights. But they can't be working alone. This is bigger than one man. Whoever it is may also have outside contacts, people they're working with or working for."

"Possibly," Guinevere agreed.

"So let's turn our attention away from the knights, and towards anyone else. Anyone suspicious or who seems like they don't belong, unfamiliar outsiders found within the castle walls." Arthur nodded decisively. "If we can find out who else is involved in this, then we can make them tell us who within my circle has betrayed me."

Sir Agravaine ambled up a narrow staircase, heading for his room upstairs. He'd spent the better part of the evening drinking in the hall downstairs. Ostensibly, he was grieving his brother Gawaine's death, but in truth, he drank to celebrate. He'd hated his overbearing older brother, and wished he could congratulate whoever finally put a sword through him. Now if only he could get rid of the other two brothers.

When he reached the top of the stairs and turned right towards his chamber, he came face to face with an cloaked figure. Agravaine blinked a couple of times to make sure he wasn't seeing things, and then, when he realized he wasn't hallucinating, he immediately yanked his sword free of its scabbard, brandishing it towards the stranger. "Who are you?" he roared. "Show your face!"

The cloaked figure didn't reply, or even move. If Agravaine had not been so drunk, he might have noticed that the stranger seemed more confused and lost than he was. Instead, he lurched forward and seized the man by the front of his cloak, and shoved him up against the wall. The stranger's hood fell back to reveal the face of an old man. He looked vaguely familiar to Agravaine, but the drunken knight pushed that thought away and placed his sword at the old man's throat. Arthur had told all the knights to be on the lookout for anyone suspicious or unfamiliar in the castle - he hadn't said why, exactly, but everyone knew why. Because of the murders that had happened, the last two knights. "Tell me who you are," Agravaine demanded, digging his blade so deeply into the man's neck that he drew blood, "or I will kill you now."

"I'm - I -" The old man blinked. "Who I am. Who am I? I'm not - I don't -" He seemed more confused than ever.

Agravaine snorted in contempt. The old man couldn't even say his name. Arthur hadn't said to kill any intruders they found, but Agravaine thought only of his own glory, how Arthur would reward him for taking out a threat to the castle. "Die, then," he snarled, and without hesitating, he slit the old man's throat.

Sili - Merlin, Part-Time Sorcerer and Healer, Town, has been lynched.

It is now Night. Please send in your night actions by Wednesday, March 18th @ 5PM CST.

ALSO - I'm sorry for not making this clear before, but once you have sent in your night action, you cannot change it. Night will end as soon as all actions are in (and once I'm online). So please do not send in your action until you have decided for sure what you want to do with it.

He was essentially worse than one of sili/me/yates when we were all in contention because he didnt provide enough info to really get a good read on him.

Once Leelou was out of the picture And sili became clear I picked the whole scum team as Eldrock Yates and Thane.

We *are* all votng yates. If dice wants to play ball for whatever reason let him. It may be he knows something we dont or he recognizes that if they kill him we auto-win.

Posted

The deadline is like that because I stated ahead of time that nights would be 24 hours long, but exactly 24 hours from now, I will be at the movies :) Don't worry - I am pretty sure Night will not take too long. It will end as soon as all night actions are in.

Lancelot pushed open the door to his room, exhausted. He'd spent the better part of the day discussing strategy with Arthur and Guinevere for their investigation, and then spent the past several hours patrolling the castle grounds. As he stepped into his chamber, he closed the door behind him and removed his helmet, tossing it onto a nearby chair. In the past, Lancelot would never have felt it necessary to wear his helmet all the way into his room, not even when walking the castle at night, but with all the blood that had been shed the past two night, it was only prudent. Some men might've thought themselves brave, to go walking around without armor while there was such danger in the castle. Lancelot thought those men stupid.

As he reached to unbuckle his sword belt, he called for his squire to come help him out of his armor - the boy was probably asleep, given the late hour. But then he heard footsteps and looked up quickly.

It was not his squire who stepped out of the shadows and into the room, but an intruder. An intruder in black armor.

Lancelot instantly drew his sword from its sheath. "I was wondering when you would come for me," he said. "I'm going to enjoy revealing you to the king and queen for you truly are."

The black knight did not answer. He only drew forth his sword. It was a monster of a blade, four feet long, and with a long hilt too. An intimidating weapon.

Lancelot was not impressed.

The black knight lunged forward and struck. Lancelot met him blade for blade, with a great clash of steel. The force of the black knight's two-handed swing nearly knocked Lance off his feet, and he barely managed to pull his blade free for another swing. The black knight was a large man, strong, and he put a lot of force into a single blow. But that would make him slower, Lancelot thought, and he would tire quickly. All he needed to do was stay in the fight long enough, and then, if he was quick, he could find a way in to defeat his opponent.

Still, the black knight was not as clumsy as another man might have been with the same sword. In fact, he was not clumsy at all. He was strong enough to make his swings graceful, and his footwork was near perfection, light and controlled. Lancelot was still quicker, but every single blow was like deflecting a mountain, and it took him more time to recover with each swing. Still, he held on, darting back and forth, drawing his attacker in circles.

It was not long before the black knight seemed to tire. His movements were just that much slower, his swings that much less potent. Lancelot saw his chance. The black knight staggered a little, struggling to recover as he drew back for another strike. Lancelot darted forward-

Clang. But the black knight moved like lightning, much more quickly than Lance had thought he could. The intruder was not as tired as he'd thought; he had fooled Lancelot. Lance barely managed to raise his sword in time to block the black knight's great blade, and the two met with such force that Lancelot's blade was knocked from his hand.

The black knight moved in for the killing blow.

Lancelot reached behind his back in a flash, drew his dagger from his back sheath, and lunged forward, thrusting the small blade at the black knight, aiming for the narrow slit in his helmet - aiming right for his eyes.

But he never landed the strike. Before Lancelot knew what was happening, he felt a sharp pain blossoming in his neck. His last thought was the realization that there was a second attacker - that someone had come up behind him. He tried to circle around to face the coward who'd stabbed him in the throat, but he only made it halfway before he slumped forward onto the floor, blood gushing from his neck.

Leelou - Sir Lancelot, Loved, Town, has been killed.

Day 4 begins. Your deadline is Friday, March 20th @ 1PM CST.

With 7 alive, it takes 4 to lynch.
