Or the Scottish one either for that matter. (Stop groaning Bridkins, I can hear you from here.  Your abhorrence of MP is shameful...shameful I say!)

So, as you may be aware, I've been (mostly) absent from the Band for several years. In my (brief) forays back amongst the boards, I've only really had a chance to meet/greet/speak with a few people who've arrived in the interim (mostly Infants as you'd expect). Time to remedy that and harass a few well known faces at the same time. Purely for fun and entertainment purposes. Think of this as a friendly (sort of) getting to know you session. I'll answer them later.

Take a seat. Any seat. *indicates all the small wooden chairs placed at regularly spaced intervals in the room* You have 5 minutes (or, you know, as much time as you need) to answer the following questions. It's compulsory to answer ALL of them to the best of your ability. Try not to spill your drinks over the papers.

1. How long have you been in the Band?

2. Tell me the most important thing I should know about you.

3. Share one fact about yourself that I wouldn't be able to pick up from simply reading the boards.

4. What's the one thing that makes you most proud of your Regiment? (or the the Band if you don't have a Regiment yet)

5. Have you read all of the WoT books or only some and which did you enjoy most?

6. We're all about the music in the Band, pick 3 tracks that tell me something about you and your personality.

7. Orange is an evil colour and must be banned. (Please sign and date this statement in blood. (Not necessarily your own.))

8. When we're not being all about the music, we're wandering these fair lands of ours. A travelling we will go etc. a) If you could visit 1 country, where would it be and why? b) What one item would you absolutely have to take with you on your travels?

9. What are your best memories of your time in the Band to date?

10. Describe one goal that you've met or achieved over the last 12 months. Doesn't matter how small or how big, just something that's a personal achievement and it can be as a Bander or in normal life...your choice.

No leaving the interrogati...umm... interview room early. I may have more deman...err... questions depending on how well this goes. *nods firmly* Marks will be deducted for using the wrong colour of pen!  Ready, get set.....and begin!

*assumes Supervision stance, withdraws two particularly sharp implements, a counting mechanism and some brightly coloured fibres*

What? Knitting is a useful skill for an Infant.

Hmmm, I find myself in need of some large quantities of Guinny (believe me when I say that is NOT something I would ever say out loud) I will partake in your little inquisition if you can supply said large quantities of the said substance Guinny

Sits in rafters dangling feet and pulls out her crochet hook and wool and starts arduously counting (counting is hard)

I will get to these questions after work today. I like this post! However, I think you should answer these questions as well.

One is glad one's CG approves. One already stated one would answer them later. Refers CG to the end of paragraph 2 above.

Guiny is sort of freely available *points at the bar in the corner of the room* which is why one suggested... ok, ordered  ... you all to try not to spill your drinks on your papers! The answers are still pretty much required though. Oh and do you really crochet?   One does that too. Part way through crocheting an amigurumi puppy at the moment.

1. How long have you been in the Band?  Since December 2014. IOW, not long at all.

2. Tell me the most important thing I should know about you.   Faith and family are foremost!

3. Share one fact about yourself that I wouldn't be able to pick up from simply reading the boards.   Errr . . . I'm probably older than a good many DM members?

4. What's the one thing that makes you most proud of your Regiment? (or the the Band if you don't have a Regiment yet)     Hello . . . horses?

5. Have you read all of the WoT books or only some and which did you enjoy most?  All of them.  I can't pick one at the moment.  If I have to I'll go with New Spring for now because it gives so much of Moiraine's story.

6. We're all about the music in the Band, pick 3 tracks that tell me something about you and your personality.  Skillet's American Noise, Disciple's Dear X You Don't Own Me, Casting Crown's Courageous.

7. Orange is an evil colour and must be banned. (Please sign and date this statement in blood. (Not necessarily your own.))   Orange is a wonderful color when teamed with dark blue

8. When we're not being all about the music, we're wandering these fair lands of ours. A travelling we will go etc. a) If you could visit 1 country, where would it be and why? b) What one item would you absolutely have to take with you on your travels?  a) Oooh, tough decision but I'll go with New Zealand because I want to see and walk the ground(s) where LotR was filmed!    b) Can I say my family or does it have to be an inanimate object?  If inanimate, a camera!

9. What are your best memories of your time in the Band to date?  The conversations.  Especially the banter between current and returning members!

10. Describe one goal that you've met or achieved over the last 12 months. Doesn't matter how small or how big, just something that's a personal achievement and it can be as a Bander or in normal life...your choice.    Something I've waited a long time for.  I was selected as the System Engineer for the entire In-Service portion of our program whereas previously I was System Engineer for a portion of it.  It was a competitive selection so there were other well-qualified candidates.

Lol, I may need more than that, fighting is thirsty work *nods

I've just started crochet, I've made 3 small amigurumi animals and have started making a limbed rabbit. If and when I get comfortable with crochet, I'll try knitting again. I'd tried them both briefly and remember crochet as being easiest, but I prefer the stitches from knitting, so I'll have to learn that soon. I've just seen images for arm knitted blankets which look very cool. If I can find wool thick enough I may have to give that a go :)

Stifles automatic impulse to kill everyone who hears the answers to this...

Or the Scottish one either for that matter. (Stop groaning Bridkins, I can hear you from here.  Your abhorrence of MP is shameful...shameful I say!)

It's compulsory to answer ALL of them to the best of your ability. Try not to spill your drinks over the papers.

1. How long have you been in the Band? Around about October 2012

2. Tell me the most important thing I should know about you.I exist

3. Share one fact about yourself that I wouldn't be able to pick up from simply reading the boards.I don't actually like orange that much, also I salsa, although probably not as well as Lazy, and I never wear high heels

4. What's the one thing that makes you most proud of your Regiment? (or the the Band if you don't have a Regiment yet) Fellow members, although we're missing some at the moment

5. Have you read all of the WoT books or only some and which did you enjoy most? Yes, with the exception of aMoL multiple times. Shadow Rising is my favourite by far.

6. We're all about the music in the Band, pick 3 tracks that tell me something about you and your personality. Difficult to limit it to 3 tracks... I may come back to this

7. Orange is an evil colour and must be banned. (Please sign and date this statement in blood. (Not necessarily your own.))Did I say yet that I'm very loyal? So I can't do that

8. When we're not being all about the music, we're wandering these fair lands of ours. A travelling we will go etc. a) If you could visit 1 country, where would it be and why? b) What one item would you absolutely have to take with you on your travels? I've already travelled a lot, both personally and with work, but I've never been to New Zealand and would love to go. I'd have to take walking boots and a tent

9. What are your best memories of your time in the Band to date? Lots, but the absolute best is a tie between bonding AJ and the Quest for the Eye... it was great to see peoples creative sides come out

10. Describe one goal that you've met or achieved over the last 12 months. Doesn't matter how small or how big, just something that's a personal achievement and it can be as a Bander or in normal life...your choice. At work I'm starting to become recognised for technical knowledge. It's always going to be on going, but I'm pretty cuffed nonetheless  within the Band watch this space (I'm hoping to be able to kick off something in the Arena soon

1. How long have you been in the Band?

Since January 30, 2013

2. Tell me the most important thing I should know about you.

Rum is my favorite drink both IRL and in the Band (If I had an XO brew you can bet it would be Rum based)

3. Share one fact about yourself that I wouldn't be able to pick up from simply reading the boards.

When I joined The Band there was no official RR training but the new member was still asked to post in each regiment to get to know their members prior to selecting a regiment. Before visiting anyone I was sure I'd have gone with the Infantry (I LOVE swords and have quite the collection -most wallhangers but a few battle ready-) but selected the Archers after they were one of the only regiments that actually talked with me during my intro period.

4. What's the one thing that makes you most proud of your Regiment? (or the the Band if you don't have a Regiment yet)

Becoming a part of Senior Staff, I'm not classified as being in a specific regiment. When I was the Archers CG I would have said I was most proud of the members of the regiment who were awesome to interact with however, when I was Archers CG, I also felt like I'd love to help out and participate in all three regiments, not just my own. Now, as a member of Senior Staff, I am truely proud to think of myself as part of all three regiments at once.

5. Have you read all of the WoT books or only some and which did you enjoy most?

I have read everything except the prequal (On my looooong to-read list) though probably will get to it whenever I do my first reread. I enjoyed the first three, as a whole, then on and off until the cleansing of saidin and everything afterwards.

6. We're all about the music in the Band, pick 3 tracks that tell me something about you and your personality.

Weird Al - White & Nerdy: Yup, that's me in a nutshell

Guilty of Being Innocent of Being Jack Sparrow (Remixed by DJ Earworm): Pirates of the Carribean + Rum = EXTREEM WIN!!!

The Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber: I enjoy singing and the notes opera singers can hit (and hold) demand respect.

7. Orange is an evil colour and must be banned. (Please sign and date this statement in blood. (Not necessarily your own.))

Not my favorite colour but I disagree that it is evil.

8. When we're not being all about the music, we're wandering these fair lands of ours. A travelling we will go etc.

a) If you could visit 1 country, where would it be and why? Japan, it is the home of Anime!

b) What one item would you absolutely have to take with you on your travels? My camera or phone (for photos) and laptop (to download them to so I can take more)

9. What are your best memories of your time in the Band to date?

For the most part, all of them!

10. Describe one goal that you've met or achieved over the last 12 months.

Earning a Matrim was cool so, off the top of my head, that.

Still working towards my goal of enough points to reach Banner General here in the Band

Also still working towards earning the light faction title of Shadar Nor (and be the first one I know of to do so)

Hrmph. I had to edit question 7 due to its inappropriate content.

1. How long have you been in the Band? I joined August 2004, but I didn't get active until September. I originally joined the Archers before setting foot in the Band (you could do that in those days), but in September got permission to look around first, so I joined the Cavalry. I did have a "break in service" a couple times. I was gone for a year around maybe 2009, and a month or two in 2006.

2. Tell me the most important thing I should know about you. My first priority is my relationship with Jesus Christ. My second is my relationship with my family. My third is anything regarding Oregon State University, whether academics or athletics.

3. Share one fact about yourself that I wouldn't be able to pick up from simply reading the boards. I am actually an introvert. (But my "introvert bubble" is able to grow around new people quickly.) My introversion does not extend to my online persona.

4. What's the one thing that makes you most proud of your Regiment? (or the the Band if you don't have a Regiment yet) I am proud that the Band survived some intensity in 2006 and 2008. While that era was the Band's "golden years," it was also a lot more volatile, in terms of personal interaction.

5. Have you read all of the WoT books or only some and which did you enjoy most? I read them all. I picked up The Eye of the World a few months before Winters Heart when I saw my friend reading it (same guy who introduced me to Redwall, Harry Potter, Ender, and three others lesser-known favorites of mine). My favorite was the Big White Book before it became dated by later installments... now it is the Sanderson trilogy, though Knife of Dreams gives them a run for the money, with Eye of the World coming in third. When the Companion comes out, I expect that to be my new favorite. (I prefer history over narrative.)

6. We're all about the music in the Band, pick 3 tracks that tell me something about you and your personality. Hail to Old OSU (subject content), Titanic Symphony (played by London Horn Sound, a Horn Ensemble-- for musical content), Matt Maher's "And All the People Said 'Amen'" (for both musical and theological content)

7. Green is an evil colour and must be banned. (Please sign and date this statement in blood. (Not necessarily your own.)) Quite right!

8. When we're not being all about the music, we're wandering these fair lands of ours. A travelling we will go etc. a) If you could visit 1 country, where would it be and why? b) What one item would you absolutely have to take with you on your travels? a) Korea-- I met my wife there and we really wish we could go back before all our  friends are gone (almost too late), though England is a close second because of some family history. I also really want to visit Israel, not for a pilgrimage, but to visit archaeological sites, and even volunteer at a dig. That is one of the most exciting archaeological regions right now. b) Depends on what kind of travel. If hiking, etc, then my camelback water system. If being normal touristy, just my iPhone for the internet and camera.

9. What are your best memories of your time in the Band to date? Single best memory: When each Regiment gave me their Regimental Weapon (I believe at the conclusion of the Festival of Lights in 2006 or 2007).... which is why they are all in my sig now.

10. Describe one goal that you've met or achieved over the last 12 months. Doesn't matter how small or how big, just something that's a personal achievement and it can be as a Bander or in normal life...your choice. Ask this again in a few months and I'll have a far better answer.... all my big goals in the last year are still in-progress, though nearing completion.

You should have stuck around a bit longer.  I think you would have made an awesome Infantry member!  Also this is one of the reasons why I think the time spent visiting with the regiments should be longer.  Sometimes people are busy and can't show up when a recruit is visiting.

1. How long have you been in the Band? I have been here since October 2012

2. Tell me the most important thing I should know about you.  Hmm this is tough, though I think I'll say this.  I'm usually pretty quite around people I'm not too familiar with, but once I start to get to know someone better that's when I start opening up a bit more and talking.

3. Share one fact about yourself that I wouldn't be able to pick up from simply reading the boards.  I'm a pretty loyal person to those who have become my friends.  If it's within my ability to do so I'd do almost anything to help them out.

4. What's the one thing that makes you most proud of your Regiment? (or the the Band if you don't have a Regiment yet)  Aside from the Infantry being the best? I love the fact that we've held nearly every position within the band.  I love everything about the infantry, except for maybe how there is a lot of missing members.  I knew right from the start that I was bound for the Infantry.

5. Have you read all of the WoT books or only some and which did you enjoy most?  I have indeed read all of the books.  However I only read about half of New Spring.  I can't pick just one book that I enjoyed the best.  I'd have to say my favorite scenes involved Mat for the most part.  If I had to choose one scene as my favorite I would think the cleansing would be it.

6. We're all about the music in the Band, pick 3 tracks that tell me something about you and your personality.  3 is hard!

  1. Hurt by Johnny Cash because I connected with this song after the death of my Dad.  I wasn't exactly in the best place mentally for a while after that.
  2. Egmont Overture by Beethoven.  This was one of my favorite songs that I played while during high school band.
  3. All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix.  If I had to pick one song as my all time favorite I think it would be this one.

7. Orange is an evil colour and must be banned. (Please sign and date this statement in blood. (Not necessarily your own.))  Orange has uses.  Sorry but I won't be supporting the banning of it.

8. When we're not being all about the music, we're wandering these fair lands of ours. A travelling we will go etc. a) If you could visit 1 country, where would it be and why? b) What one item would you absolutely have to take with you on your travels? There a lot of places I'd love to visit.  I'll say Ireland for this answer because some of my ancestors came from there and I'd love to be able to see if I can add more to my family tree.  I would definitely need a decent camera so I can take pictures of all the beauty in the places I want to visit.

9. What are your best memories of your time in the Band to date?  Getting to know my fellow banders!  Becoming Captain-General and XOA when it was still around.  Becoming a Blademaster will be the next memory!

10. Describe one goal that you've met or achieved over the last 12 months. Doesn't matter how small or how big, just something that's a personal achievement and it can be as a Bander or in normal life...your choice.  Personally finally being able to start saving money again.  Shortly before joining DM I got laid off from my job and wasn't called back when the season started again.  Not long after that I started working where i currently am employed.  I've starting climbing the ladder there and am currently waiting to have another interview for a different position which should be a better wage so I'll be able to put away more money if i get the job.  Within the band I'd say one of the goals I'm happy to have started is becoming a Blademaster.

6. We're all about the music in the Band, pick 3 tracks that tell me something about you and your personality. Changes (D. Bowie), When I grow up (Fever Ray), Summer (Vivaldi).

If we don't count family/friends, legal stuff (passport, ID card...), money and clothes then the item would be a camera.

9. What are your best memories of your time in the Band to date? Thane breaking 5 laws in one post was amazing. Stuff of legends, can be said. But the best memories so far involves Chae and plotting *grins*

10. Describe one goal that you've met or achieved over the last 12 months. Doesn't matter how small or how big, just something that's a personal achievement and it can be as a Bander or in normal life...your choice. I managed to control the amount of coffee I drink.

Several things:

-> No Thane, Chae is not an item lol. I should have specified inanimate objects for that question. Consider it rectified.

-> I should have mentioned no spoilers regarding the books ... not been any so far thankfully.

-> non Banders can feel free to answer too, at least as much as they can. That's why it's posted on the public board. We like people joining in so don't be shy.

->   + 12 hundred and eleventy thirteen points to Dice and Thane for signing number 7.

->   - 5 million 7 hundred thousand and twelve to Horn on principle for his response to number 7.

->   - 60 for everyone else for their replies to number 7.

->   + 3 thousand to Dav for responding in the correct colour of pen.

->   - 9 thousand 5 hundred and four to everyone else.

->   - 900 million to Dice and Horn for not wanting to come to SCOTLAND... you're both in trouble.

Ok who went and got Tay active?? lol   goes grabs a guinny  pulls out some pens and begins

Oi now, I can leave again....:sad:

I've just started crochet, I've made 3 small amigurumi animals and have started making a limbed rabbit. If and when I get comfortable with crochet, I'll try knitting again. I'd tried them both briefly and remember crochet as being easiest, but I prefer the stitches from knitting, so I'll have to learn that soon. I've just seen images for arm knitted blankets which look very cool. If I can find wool thick enough I may have to give that a go :)

I do this as a business, amongst other crafts. I agree that crochet is easier from a learning point of view - which is odd considering there are actually more variations of stitches in crochet. It uses considerably more yarn than knitting but it's much, much faster. I haven't tried arm knitting yet, I can't decide whether I like the results or not. Do share some pics of your work, I'd love to see the rabbit when you're finished.

2. Tell me the most important thing I should know about you.

Rum is my favorite drink both IRL and in the Band (If I had an XO brew you can bet it would be Rum based)

There IS an XO Brew, just as there is an MG Brew...and it is most definitely rum based because it was created for me when I was XO. When I do drink IRL, which is extremely rare, dark rum is my poison of choice.

3. Share one fact about yourself that I wouldn't be able to pick up from simply reading the boards.

I once open mouth kissed a horse <<
>>

I don't think that's something you should be admitting to in public... just sayin'. Totes emosh at the sharing though.

Oh, and rolls away the barrels of guinny

You understand the concept of limitless supply, right? Just making sure lol.

Hrmph. I had to edit question 7 due to its inappropriate content.

7. Green is an evil colour and must be banned. (Please sign and date this statement in blood. (Not necessarily your own.)) Quite right!

Damned by your own admission!   You're cheating. Shocking example for an MG to set. Tut tut. And yes, I will definitely ask again, sounds exciting.

Loving the replies so far. Yes, I've read them all.  It's awesome to see that it's the people met and friendships made that still mean so much to you all. I haven't heard all of the songs mentioned by a long shot. Going to work my way through listening to them while I get on with a crochet project this evening. Interesting that quite a few folks haven't read all the books too.

Lots of people picking New Zealand as a destination and I can see why. It's a beautiful country even without the LotR angle to add interest. I'd like to visit Ireland too, Dav. Been to Ulster but not Eire despite having friends there.
