We should if they're unrealistic. I'm one of the biggest proponents of jumping right in with serious play on D1, but you expecting me to have ironclad cases on my first reads of the game is ludicrous.

Ie posting a lot more, trying to look casual, posting song lyrics, all of those things he recently said in another game were all towntells for him, and I tend to agree. Him doing all that stuff out the gate this time seems like him trying to force his meta big time.

 

Add to that his emo self vote thing (which as Nyn pointed out he recently did as scum)

Okay, so I'll back Nyn 100% on what she said about Leelou (and herself, for that matter) - when we were talking yesterday, neither seemed particularly delighted to have rolled scum in their most recent game and were holding out a lot of hope to be town this game, despite me trying to curse them into rolling scum again.

 

I figured this would be the easiest read of my life for Leelou. If she seemed to have high interest this game and genuinely feel good about being in the thread, she'd be likely to be town. If she was crabby and avoid...ative?, I would assume scum. So far, I actually lean towards the former and like her chances to be town. But I don't metaclear people, so I pushed her to see how she'd respond. If she blew up on me, I could lock!scum her. Anything short of that would help affirm the townlean I already had formed.

 

Now that the cat's out of the bag, I'll obviously have to wait to clear her until she chooses to be more active in the hunt, rather than getting dragged in. Gambit busted. Thanks, Nyn.

For the last like FIVE games I've been endlessly tinfoiled on for being a good townie because "that's what Tom does as a wolf."

This game multiple people have told me "Tom is town because he wouldn't do this as a wolf."

I followed Clov cause i thought we saw the same thing there. Then i read back up and it turned out i remembered wrong.

Really, I haven't seen much of anything.  In addition to what Nyn already said about our conversation yesterday, she should be more than willing to confirm that I told her I associate Leelou being snarky with her scum game, since I saw a lot of it in ABBA.  Nyn told me she's that way regardless of alignment.  Probably true, but I have minimal experience with Town!Leelou.  But I've seen a little bit of it here.

 

Content wise, I couldn't even begin to form a read on her.  She has a couple posts of gameplay, but it's nothing I can really analyze her from.

 

Overall, I think it's perfectly reasonable for me to have SOME concern about her.  Again - serious push worthy?  Not at all.  But enough to make me try a move.

I have a bad feeling about Salami, Hallia and Clov. I'm wavering on Salami but he could be either a frustrated townie or a wolf that is rattled cause he got caught so early. Would love to hear what the rest think about his reaction and what do you think he's more likely to be here.

 

Not loving Clov's tone at all nor the way that he entered the game. I just don't like it. And Halli has been acting weird and her vote on AJ was silly and just.... no.

 

I felt a bit iffy about Wombat when he first entered the game, but I like more of what I'm seeing from his catch up posts.

It's a massive over reaction to minimal pressure early in the game.  I don't know what that means towards his alignment.  Overall though, I have him as mafia right now.  I thought Tom's question regarding my point was perfectly valid, and then when he got resistance to the push, he said he "remembered wrong" - she had, in fact, been confident this game.  

 

All of that's plausible, but then when I ask for examples, he told me to go back and look for myself.

In general scum will use more "hedging" statements like you've described. But some people use them frequently as villagers to express their uncertainty. AJ does it, I do it, Monstrdingus does it, etc. It has to be combined with a sort of subconscious confidence behind what they're saying. And yes, it's possibly to be confident yet uncertain. Hard to explain.

I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of player.  Lots of good townies do it, lots of average townies do it. Same goes for scum.

I didn't say that at all. I said he did it in his town game, which i why I was second guessing myself. No one seemed to recall a game where he got lynched early on as scum... so I can't really verify if this is a tactic.

I'm not liking Hallia, mostly gut feeling. I have a tendency to not like Hallia though (I mean, I like her, but her posts often seem scummy to me :D). I mostly didn't like how she made sure to reiterate that she wasn't "rustled" after several people pointed out AJ had turned up before she voted him (when she'd said he'd turned up after).

 

There's a lot I'm not liking on csarmi, too. He sheeps Clov's reasoning for voting Leelou (though Clov's reasons weren't really clear), then when pushed about it, changes tack and backs off Leelou. Shortly after Nyn posts her suspicions about him, he makes sure to say that he likes Nyn so far this game - comes off to me like he's making sure he doesn't get defensive at her.

 

I also didn't like - and I don't really mean it seems scummy, I just mean I don't like it, especially if he's town - that he seems to think he should be obviously town to everyone just because he says so. I have played with him before, but not really in a while - I certainly have no idea what his town game looks like.

I disagree. I think he really had a bad tone. Specifically in the last line where he was chastising me for ruining his 'gambit'. And when Wombat asked him about his experience with Lee he said he only played like once with Lee as town. It all looked very.... out of place that he chose to start off with her if he's not that well versed in reading her. Usually Clov is very neat and pretty much overwhelms me with his logic. Like I can sit there and just nod when I read his posts. But I'm not feeling it this game.
