I'm mostly ignoring all the advertisement and hype about this game. I haven't even watched a single trailer/teaser yet. I've been let down to much by the Hype train this last year, that I hope when it does come out, and I get my hands on it, I'll love it for what it is, rather than what I want it to be.

Looking into the Keep to set up choices as the alternative to save importing. Damn, there's a lot of stuff. I hope there's a default world state in case you don't feel like spending hours on this thing. The Mass Effect games had that, but it usually involved the game making all the worst choices for you.

The Keep?

I know there were some applications & other saves you could download based on choices for ME & DA games in the past... not sure what this 'keep' thing is though?

Mass Effect had some DLC (necessary for the PS3 release of ME2, since ME1 didn't land on that system until the Trilogy release) that allowed you to do the broad strokes decisions without and import, but you actually can't import DA:O and DA2 saves to DA:I. Probably due to the jump in console generation. That's why they have this thing so you can set up all the major and (presumably) minor choices from the previous two games; then you just sync it up to your game to establish the setting.

Ahhh I never even knew that existed!

Well, see, deliberately ignoring all the press info on a game can come back to bite you after all, eh?

Eh, not really. I'm mostly been trying to avoid the hype train. The keep however, is more about past games then the upcoming one. And I'm sure when I went online when DA:I comes out, looking for 'saves' i'd have found mention of the keep...

So anyways..

What class/specialization are you thinking of going for?

I'm thinking about Knight Enchanter, or Rift Mage..

Well.. I pre-ordered the game.

Went to bed 3 hours early, and woke up 3 hours early to get a few hours in before i went to work.

Then my internet went down (F#&! ISP!)

was able to play, but not able to import my save...

Got home, started over, imported save data, and got in about 6 hours of game. (I stayed up an hour late >_<)

So far its good. Though I'm still not sure how/when you can unlock these specialization classes.

A certain companion character, is a 'knight enchanter', but when you get her in your party, its not available to her... I'm guessing it unlocks post level 10, 20 or something? Dunno... guides online are still vague and incomplete.

Target was giving away the Prima guide with the game. Not that I'm going to use it unless absolutely necessary.

You've clearly gotten further into the main story than I have. Twelve hours in and I haven't gotten a damn thing accomplished in the main story. The second I got access to the overworld, I was all "SEEYA CHUMPS" and went road trippin'. Ended up on the Storm Coast, which even in last gen graphics (360) is absolutely gorgeous. Just wandering around a coastline with huge, slick basalt formations, choppy sea, lashing rain, what is that it sounds an awful lot like Rodan OH LOOK A CYCLOPS FIGHTING A DRAGON WHAT THE SMURF

Now I'm standing on top of a rock pillar in a desert in the middle of nowhere, my inventory full of nice gear that I can't equip until I level up more. Only downside to not progressing the story is that I'm stuck with my starting characters and I want to push Solas off a cliff for thus far being the Kaidan/Jacob of this game. Maybe he has something to do with this temple out here that will redeem him. I do get the occasional choppiness in cutscenes, among other minor glitches, though maybe they just weren't as concerned about QA on the last-gen releases. I did find it odd that, when the dragon killed the cyclops, the cyclops dropped loot right next to me even though I was on a cliffside five hundred feet away.

Liking the combat more than Origins. Not at all looking forward to trying for the difficulty achievements. At least friendly fire isn't directly tied into higher difficulty in this game like it was in Origins.

that would suck if it was! lol

The game is odd that way. Some things it'll drop loot at your feet. Other times it drops it a the mobs feet.. I'm not sure what triggers it to drop at your feet.. but I assume its actually a 'fix' used for bodies that fall off cliffs and you 'lose' the loot. (aka I HATE when that happens in Dark Souls! *grrrrrr*)

Kinda. i've been dicking around in the first -quest- hub.

I 'wish' I could remotely access the war-table while in the field so I don't have to 'leave' adventure mode to get my rewards/send people on new missions.

Side note: I'm not liking the fact that I have to unequip my other companions, to upgrade there gear at the black-smith.

I'm 'assuming' when you get the 'better' keep later in the game this is fixed... but I can't be sure. Eitherway, you can't explore haven (yet) with your companions, so you can't upgrade them without first unequiping them when you return 'home'.

Sera's my plan for romance, although she's apparently the most complicated one. Not like James-Vega-with-horns jumping in the sack with anything that breathes (much like Zevran before him). From what I can glean without spoiling myself, I have to hit Val Royeaux first before I can run into her (and Vivienne, too, I guess). I haven't even done the whole talking-to-Mother-Gisele part yet.

Also apparently Skull Kid from Majora's Mask is a party member?

Val Royeaux is a very nice place to buy equipment you can't afford!

Storm Coast you should find another companion. But you have to play with the war table first... probably like most companions i'm guessing.

I dunno who that is...

I probably have to advance the story first, because I've done everything in Storm Coast except destroy the red lyrium (because it's blocked off) and kill that stupid dragon.

So I finally got my Knight-Enchanter going.

Used the 1st 1-gold respec and put all my points into it.

Holy hell!

Fade Cloak + Declaoking Blast is a beast! I literally just did 2,200 damage in one attack! Non-Crit! Or even a -high- end hit!

I don't think I realized how relatively early in the game you're supposed to get Skyhold, because I'd poured like 35 hours in by then.

I have all my characters now, and I'm generally running with a party of Iron Bull, Cassandra or Blackwall, and Vivienne or Dorian. Few of the characters have made a real impression on me the way they did in Mass Effect, but bits like walking in on Cassandra reading trashy romance novels (Varric's trashy romance novels) make me laugh. Still wish Iron Bull sounded like an actual character and not James Vega doing a funny voice. I wonder if anything Cole says would make sense or make me interested in using him if I had gone with the Templars instead of the Mages.

Looking over the specialization options, I'm not thrilled by how little there seems to be in there if you're specced for archer instead of daggers. I supposed I'll go with artificer when it opens up, at least that seems to have one relevant skill.

Really starting to get annoyed with texture resolution. I mean, I get that it was intended for PS4/XB1, but I see things like beards showing up as a chunk of blurred pixels and I wonder if they even cared. Also wonder if people clipping through everything is this bad on next-gen versions - Cole's arms clip right through his stupid-looking hat if he so much as shrugs.

I'm playing a mage so I'm trying not to have viv/dor/sol in my party.

I did land a pair of 210 dmg daggers, put them on Cole and Now he's the 2nd hardest hitter. (My mage Is the hardest hitter!)

I 'wish' we could have 1 more party member. 4 just feels to damn small.
