Thanks, BFG, for the most fun I've had in a game in a long while. A lot of that fun was because of the decision by both Leelou AND Nyn to forego the dead chat to stay in the scum QT and offer me moral support. You gals are the best, I don't care WHAT Cory says about you!

 

I also don't think I'd be as happy with the victory if it was one of those games where scum mowed down the village. I was willing to accept a moral victory for making it to Day 3. This was a really excellent player list with some of my favorite people to see on a signup thread.

Leonard was a genius, of the sort who could paint a portrait, where the eyes stayed still, but the painting could follow you around the room¹. He was also the sort of genius who invented the gun to test a theory on mechanical propulsion and he would always, always push the button. So upon finding an old and tattered book on how to open a portal to the Dungeon Dimensions, he naturally wanted to test it².

 

So a few days ago, he'd snuck out of his locked cell, having invented a device that would open any door, past the Guards and made his way to an abandoned warehouse by the docks, where he performed the correct ritual and opened the portal, notebook at the ready to observe what happened. He wasn't alone that first time, a large chest that looked oddly intelligent was sitting in the space, but since it didn't bother him he didn't bother it. The portal opened, initially all the light and sound was sucked out of the room, anywhere else he'd have also noticed the smell of rotting seaweed, but by the Ankh Morpork Docks that just improved the smell. In that darkness things came through the portal and lodged themselves in the head of Leonard and what passed for a brain in the Luggage.

 

The portal had collapsed, the initial summoning hadn't been strong enough, but although what remained had the shapes of Leonard and the Luggage, it wasn't really them any more.

 

The Luggage had been killed days ago, the creature from the Dungeon Dimensions unable to survive in this world without a host, Leonard was on his own as he snuck back to the Docks, this time to do the job properly. A member of the Nightswatch was looking around, it was a tense few moments as he drew his short sword and almost managed to get in a blow. However the creature gave Leonard inhuman strength, allowing him to pierce the chainmail the Guard wore with just a pencil.

With a sigh of relief the creature opened the portal, opening the Dungeon Dimensions into the world.

² having (naturally) read the small print first, which explicitly and descriptively pointed out that meddling in the affairs of wizards was stupid and not just in fairy tales.

Boys reach emotional maturity slower than girls. It's science. Plus I was Convinced I'd be able to find a useful purpose for those tears and emotions and didn't want to tear out something I'd regret losing - like the way I never had a chance to weigh in my opinion on the potential utility of foreskin. *shrug*
