With the Companion coming out next year what things are you hoping will be in the book.

For me I hope there is information on:

Did Taim go to Rand as a DF already or after he joined Rand.

A map of the Aiel waste show where each clan is located.

Gren's encounter with Asmo (yes it was fast), but a POV from her perspective.

Alanna suddenly leaving Tear.  Was she kidnapped or went up willingly and then got captured?

What happened to Jain, we know he was tricked and used by Ishy.  But what happened and what did he do to Malkieri.

I know a lot of this won't get answered like Gren's killing Asmo POV, but this is my wish list.

.

Generally pretty much along your lines of thinking. Many questions and mysteries answered. But for me....

like the other thread mentioned, there would be more maps, including Thakan'dar, which is the one that I wanted the most to be included in aMoL, as the battles, and goings on around that location was a nightmare for me to picture and comprehend. I LOVE maps! And I would like to see some of the old ones remade too, with more detail added to them. Similar to the outstanding 'The Atlas Of Middle-Earth' by Karen Fonstead.

Also, I am looking forward to a full super duper glossery, resembling the excellent 'The Complete Guide To Middle-Earth', as I have spent countless hours going through that one while wearing it out, and having to purchase a new one.

And the family trees too.

specific scenes I doubt would be in  the companion.

Like I told in some other thread, best chance for the printing of any more scenes would be in books that contain stories from multiple authors.

Like another poster, I would like maps and family trees.

maps showing and labeling each place mentioned in the series.

family trees of at least these characters::

-the 3 taveren

-their respective lovers

-and perhaps other characters well-acquainted anyone of with either group

It would be better to expand that to all 7 (if the notes have that info); not just those 5.  the info that the books reveal about Age events seem to apply to current cycle; and the Age numbers could be misapplied.

First, the sales will be very poor. (Best Sellers in Epic Fantasy - amazon.com: EOTW #62, AMOL #83, EOTW audio #96).

Not so long ago 8-10! WOT books were in the TOP50, at this pace there will none in the TOP100 next year. I am so sad, so sad. It was a bestselling series (1990-2005) then the publisher and Sanderson killed it.

ON:

I really hope that they will include stuff written by Jordan only. Good maps, good drawings (BWB, shivering), deleted chapters, and the most important: Jordan's commentary. I don't care what x and y think about the series, I need the thoughts of the creator only.

I'm not holding my breath on an actual Gren POV, but I do want more details on the incident, such as why Gren was there in the first place and how she killed Asmodean. In fact, I would greatly appreciate it if every detail on this incident included in the notes, or told to Harriet by RJ made its way into the Companion.

I would also like complete character bios that, as much as possible, tell what happened them following the events of AMOL.  I would also like to know Thom's full back story.  I mean the series never even said where he was from originally.

Another reason Asmo death fascinates me is RJ said Asmo couldn't be brought back because of "where" he was killed.  I had always assumed he was balefired as to leave no evidence of his death.  So did she drop him through a gateway???

Actually, Robert Jordan said "where" and "how".  My thought has been that Asmodean died inside a Skimming type Gateway; since Graendal seemed very close.

As for why she was in Caemlyn in the first place, some possibilities::

-pick up Rahvin then go to Sammael

-somehow found out about Rand's plan and went to help Rahvin

-somehow found out that Asmodean would be there and went either to purposely kill him or to do something with him

that first one might be most likely out of those.

where Thom was from originally, that would be nice to know.  One possibility could be the place of his nephew.

Haven't had time to read all the replies but what I would sincerely hope for in the companion is some tying up of the loose ends left unresolved at the end of AMoL; perhaps some more information on Nakomi (This is probably top of mine and others' lists of much-desired info).

Family trees, catalogues of undisplayed weaves, more info of the AoL....I want to know it all and suck up all the information like a sponge!

Another theory that after learning of Rhavins death she went to look for any items of power she could find and stumbled into Asmo and took the opportunity to kill him.

d

I think this is the most likely reason.  RJ said that there was a hint to Asmo's killer in POD and in this volume we find that following Sameal's death in CoS Gren went to his stronghold to search for items of power.  Given this is seems reasonable that she would do the same to Rhavin upon learning of his demise.  Still it would be nice to have confirmation of this.  And yes, answering the how and where questions would be great.  I kinda suspect the where had something to do with the Waygate in Camylen, maybe a bit of foreshadowing was thrown in the mix.

  • 3 weeks later...

I would like to see a list of male channelers in order of their strength.

I think something like that was promised for the Encyclopedia.  If so, it might be in the Companion.

some things that came to my mind a number of days ago::

-a list of prophecies (Foretellings, Dreams, Viewings, Aelfinn answers) that were printed in the books; showing Robert Jordan's intended interpretation and the scene/scenes that fulfill it.

-the timing of various pre-series laws and ranks; especially of the White Tower.  by pre-series I mean that they came into existence before the main series and/or before the prequel.

About Rahvin's items of power, not sure if he had any; or if Graendal would have known where he would have put them.

With Sammael, she seemed to have visited his rooms a considerable amount of time before he died.
