so at the beginning of the month, I started hearing a buzzing sound in my left ear... not even a week later I got a headache and by the 10th I got a headache that made me think my skull was being bashed in along with severe back pain... the headache continued nonstop until the 16th (i'd gone to the doctor on the 15th and they diagnosed me with a sinus infection and started me on an antibiotic)... on the 17th it was back and just as bad as it had been... I think the headache didn't stop until the 19th or 20th, but around then my vision started getting whacked up... eventually it got to the point where my right eye made me see the head and tail of a dog next to each other, cars on opposite sides of the streets next to each other, and looking in the mirror was probably weirdest of all... I looked like a Cyclops (only one eye in the middle of my face).

my mom got me an eye doctor appointment. when I got there, they dilated my eyes and took a picture of my eyes and the nerves in them. turns out that there was swelling of the optic nerve and a lot of fluid in my eye. the official diagnosis of cases like these come from an illness called pseudotumor (there's a more scientific name, but it's a lot longer and I can't remember it). symptoms include excruciating headaches, back pain, changes in vision by excess fluid in the eye, and other things... now for those of you who know what pseudo means, you ask "so if the word means false tumor, then you don't have one?" the answer is: correct, I DO NOT have a tumor, BUT my body thinks that I have a brain tumor so they react as if I do.

not many hours later I am admitted to the ER and am told that I'm going to have a CT scan and a spine tap. apparently I am an anomaly to them because almost everyone with this illness is obese and I am not. my reaction to the spine tap part: HECK NO!!! sadly there was nothing I could do... and what was worse is that while they were taking blood they gave me my first IV... I hated it and could feel it in my veins. I've had a CT scan before, so there was no issue there... for the spine tap they had me in my hospital gown curl up in a ball as tight as I could so my spine stuck out as well as space between each piece. they rubbed me with numbing stuff and slowly stuck the needle into my back... IT HURT!!!   I'm sure the numbing helped some, but I'm very hypersensitive, so I felt as each centimeter sunk into my back and extracted my spinal fluid as well as coming back out. Did I cry? NO! I yelped, but that's it... they quickly got my spinal fluid pressure read... it was 46 when it was supposed to be under 20. a neurologist came back and asked how many cc's the doctor took and when he found out it was 15cc's, he goes "you're going to have to do it again. headaches require 20cc's."  not again! thankfully my mom mentioned I hadn't had a headache in almost a week, so I didn't have to do it again...

fast forward, I had IV tubes still in my arm that were not attached to anything for more than a day... I was not a happy camper... then I had to take an MRI the day after admittance to the hospital, and even though we knew the results and were able to be sent home by noon the next day, my mom wanted to talk to the doctor about my condition and the medicine I now take for it, so it wasn't until after 2 p.m. that I was discharged...

my sight is returning to normal and I am happy to be home... and though there is a chance that pseudotumor can come back, I sure hope not!
