I'm going to be perfectly honest and say that I've got nothing anymore.  My read on Cory was wrong, and I have nowhere else to go with it for right now, though Tommy coming in right after the suicide by mod and saying that we can ignore anything that Cory said is kind of interesting, especially with the massive finger that Cory was pointing at him.  (I'll leave it to you guys to decide which finger it was.)

 

I hate having to do Day 1 rereads.

1. Sorry, it was someone else who claimed the mere mention of the word QT was scummy. Can't recall who.

2a. Skimming is not scummy. If anything, scum has more to lose than town skimming as they can slip up or be incoherent. Town doesn't have to orchestrate their game.

2b. I haven't skimmed this thread. I explained why I felt it was random you suddenly wanted to ignore everyone else. You assumed skimming and decided to peg it on me together with claiming it was scummy.

3. I have no idea why you would draw a line between me reading your nudging as fake-scumhunting and clearing Des and Tommy to prove my point. It's completely unrelated.

4a. I know you've been looking around, which I've read as the townie thing to do, which is why I felt it was suprising (and, as stated, random) that you suddenly decided to stop looking at other people (including myself for that matter) and just tunnel on those two.

4b. I have no problem looking more closely at Tommy, Des or anyone for that matter. But I don't want to drop my strongest scum-read because you say so, and (imo) have a higher risk of mislynching D1. I agree that we shouldn't speed-lynch anyone, but dropping the player most people have found scummy so far? Seems more like you wanna give him time to recoil and get away from heat while we mislynch D1. Do you have an agenda with your decided two up for lynching?

This is also strange. If we can leave Cory alone for a bit, there is still alot to pick at so far. And coming into thread 25 pages in just to say "oh shit, my one read flipped town, I don't have anything on anyone" is strange at best. Do you honestly not have any reads on any one of the remaining players at this point?

Could be just him being a townie smartypants. Or a playful scum. Either way, not a fan of these kind of jokes. It's one of the things I beat myself over later on when people flip scum and I'm all, how did I not see right through that? Reminds me of when Verbal and Leelou were joking around about what duo meta to use when they were getting heat over their interactions. Those kind of jokes only make it harder to read people. Not liking this at all. At this point the game shifted away from jokey D1 spam. Wombat and Cory's back and forth was information to be sorted through, not an entertainment material. So basically, he makes a point of stating that he is following the going ons in the game, but not bothering to try to get a read out of it.

 

The comment about Dawn is basically false. From the games I've played with her I've noticed her being relatively inactive regardless of her alignment and she usually gets crap for it (and rightly so). So when she does post she's lockscum? lol Yeah, whatever. Why not refer to what she actually said to try to discredit her, instead of  claiming that a posting Dawn is a scum Dawn?

More criticism on Dawn actually being active lol  You know, Dawn is WAY past the newbie phase. She should be very familiar with the game by now and should play accordingly. I will be the first one to admit that I'm not a fan of how she plays. I always find her scummy no matter what she says, but I also acknowledge the fact that she's easy jailbait for scum to use for a mislynch. In Red Wedding she might have been a townie, but for all purposes her actions were that of a symp cause scum had her under their thumb.

 

I'm really not loving the fact that between 17 players in the game, the only person you decide to note is Dawn. What bothers me further is that you're not even critisizing the content of her posts, which is lolDawn, but rather the fact that she's actually posting. Weak.

Then he shows up saying he's off focus and that he's always perceived as scummy. He chuks up his whole interaction with Dawn as being a joke and a way to get her used to pressure early in the game. That way she won't be inclined to bail from the game all emo (I didn't realize this was something Dawn did in previous games. Is it?). But basically the only scum read he had is gone..... and he's been applying pressure for lolz? >.>  Backpaddling. 

 

1 more post expanding on his good-natured ribbing on Dawn this early on purpose so she'd know it's a joke. Okay. How about some actual scum hunting, Tsuki, instead of giving the newbies a wedgie? Assuming this is what this was. I don't even know.

perhaps scummy wasn't the right word. lazy game play is a better word. and imo Town does have more to lose from skimming townies. the scum has their QT to check and make sure their WIFOM is fact based. a townie is alone. if they skim the thread they miss important info and can not expect to catch scum at all. not only do skimmers hurt the town, because they aren't paying attention they tend to get out of sync with the game, fall behind for need of re-reading and become lurking sheeple votes on wagons which let the scum get an easy win.

its called focusing. we're 3 RL days into this game. Hoof hasn't set a deadline yet, but typical D1's on DM last around 5 RL days. we only have one lynch, so its time to stop casting a large net and focusing on the slimiest fish to get a decent lynch with info.

RTE's actions are scummy. but i'll say it again. despo and tommy's actions are SCUMMIER

 

i'm not claiming RTE > rand. i'm claiming that despo & tommy > RTE < Rand

 

 

also, look at Mynds case on RTE. thats the sum of the info we gain from his lynch, aside from analyzing how people pushed him (which is mostly sheeping off the "OMG dat reveal and OP". Despo is not only loads more scummy, but gives loads more info.

Fun because I got to see myself proven sooooo right in some cases and soooooo wrong in others.

 

 

Alright, got a good grip on this game however. And you know the funny thing? I used to think big game hunting really only applied to mafia NK's, since I thought the idea of mafia actively trying to get a good townie lynched didn't make any sense (as that kind of preplanning usually isn't that smart on the mafia team, can expose you if it fails like if the target claims a vettable role or something.

 

But, like so many other things, I have come to change my mind about it. Especially after seeing the way this game has unfolded. Imo the scummers are MOST CERTAINLY big game hunting today. Like Wombat, initially having the mini-thunderdome with Cory then switching to me for poopoo reasons. Red, for trying to set up a thunderdome with me and Tommy (cause she thinks her scumbuddy Tommy will win and she thinks this counts as distancing, lawlz). Tommy, for well obvious reasons.

Before I respond to the quote below I want to make a statement that I sincerely hope is understood.  Suiciding by manipulation of a game mechanic or for any reason that is intentional is something that is bannable for several of the moderators on this site, myself being one of them.  It has been pushed to be a ban from this forum because it is manipulation of something outside of the game and thus against the spirit of play.  With that said let's continue.

 

 

Rest assured, we are indeed vanilla town.  I've seen him become this excited as town before.  Gonna try and pick through to see who's taking advantage

 

This is odd in its' entirety.  "Rest assured" is a statement made to comfort someone before.  "See who's taking advantage" implies that everyone else is inherently at fault.  The first one is a scum tell and the second is simply illogical so perhaps it should be expounded on for Hallys' sake, as she may give a clearer read than Cory right now.  

 

@Hally, there may be people who are taking advantage of this if you two are indeed town.  However, you can't make the above statements and anticipate to be taken seriously ever because they are all made from the perspective of someone who already knows their alignment.  If you assume that we are inherently wrong then you aren't paying good attention to your hydra partner or aren't being logical based on his impassioned plea.  I'll tell you exactly what I've seen from Cory.  He cares about games as town, yes.  I like that a lot about him.  What I don't like is that he can't handle the pressure of being scrutinized.  That's a huge flaw in his town game (if this is indeed his town game, I've never seen this from him before) and instead of him responding adequately as we are used to seeing Cory do, providing us with reasons that he should stay around all that he has done is exacerbate the behaviors that got him here in the first place.  To the point of things those are: Immense ATE.  Cory is usually passionate, here he reads as beggarly, pleading with people to recognize him as town without giving reason to do so.  He is looking for "ways out".  Why?  My simplest question of his play so far.  Why does he need to be out of the spotlight so aggressively?  Can he not handle the pressure of being under the aforementioned scrutiny?  None of us know since he hasn't been in this position before and his reaction to it has been so bombastic that it appears from the outside like he will do anything to avoid being voted.  That's a classic scumtell though I am sure you knew that.  The biggest is that his tone has changed.  Cory is trying to play to each person voting him.  Nobody likes that, nobody experienced at least.  I can't see a town sentiment in the lot of these things because ultimately all that they tell me is that Cory doesn't want to be lynched.  That's the message being sent, not "Cory wants to win".  The difference is tangible in his posts and play thus far and so... choo choo.

 

Oh, for the record I have been that D1 lynch enough times to know very well how frustrating it is to be critiqued like this Cory.  I say I want you to show me why we shouldn't lynch you and you, in your emotional state, feel like you've done that but you honestly haven't.  I can't tell you a way that consistently works to defend yourself in mafia because there is no defense for your own reactions and misconstrued interactions with other people.  Accept it and move forward with this lesson.  It was quite humbling for me to realize that on D1 if people think you're scummy then you don't have much that you can do.    Even if you did you'd be more of a hindrance to town the rest of this game than a help anyhow.

 

My first reaction to this post was- Wth? Does Darthe realize Hallia was hydraing with Cory? Why is he still trying to sow seeds of a case against her?

His reaction to Cory's maneuver does pass muster however. Doesn't try to oversell it, even tho he does act kinda politically correct about it (but again, that's not really questionable for Darthe)

Well, sucks what Cory did and what happened with him. FWIW, I had a scum read on him till the point he quoted his role PM. Mainly because he was emo way too early on the game. Like he did in Real Genius. But which he didn't do in Buffy (not so early)

That said, as of now, my two suspicions.
 

 

Also, people seem to be taking RTE's OP out of context and I think that's why the votes on him started.  It's null imo.  His reaction to the pressure has been kinda crappy imo, but that
's also kinda null for me atm as RTE is pretty scummy and flippant every time I see him play.  Kind of like a more spastic Lenlo.

I get goosepricks everytime I see Wombat defending someone using their meta. He does that somewhat as scum. Mainly a meta read.

I don't think I've ever played with Corey before
But I appreciate the case on him and respect the three people voting him (all three don't tend to play very tight games)
However I really dislike RTes reveal and don't think his train will continue given the new momentum on Corey
