[Basic] Weasley vs Malfoy at the Ministry - Game over - Weasleys win

Classic day 1 s***. Two very active players with nothing to do but accuse eachother. Don`t worry about it, happens in half the games. I`m off to bed as well.

2 rule clarifications:

- no replacements. At all.

- the «fake characterclaims» rule says nothing about eventual roleclaims

@Csarmi, why are you saying you find Verb hard to read but have Mish, Tina, GF, Peace & AVM need to step it up?  http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/85865-basic-weasley-vs-malfoy-at-the-ministry-day-1/?p=3082056

Deliberate coding fail? Don't buy that this was accidental, you ALWAYS correct your own messups, and review the last few posts and whatnot.

There's absolutely no coding fail there. There is no need for bolding or colouring a vote, so I didn't. I was posting it from phone, it was much easier to post this way.

I liked Des' questioning there, and I don't like Salami's answer.  He's right, Salami, you're usually extremely consistent on correcting your mistakes right away with a double post - you do it all the time.  I don't know what this says, but it strikes me as odd.  FOS, but not ready to vote you for it.

I'm really not liking the way Verb cuts this quote.  Immediately after 'whatnot' Des states that it's not an error, and thinks Csarmi did it as wifom (see quote below).  Why would you ignore the bit where Des says it's not a coding fail?  FOS on Verb.

Just remembered that technically this game doesn't have a specific coding requirement, so meh. Still, I think you would have at least bolded your vote, after bolding and redding the vote on me.

My thinking is you might have done this to wifom the link between you and Cloud.

Huh?  You just said the same thing I did.  Check my quote again of Des.  The entire comment is about him saying it wasn't accidental and that it was deliberate.  You're really going for semantics to FOS me over that one, lol.  If anything, the part I omitted HELPS my point.  Salami used bolding in a prior vote....why not this one?  You intentionally ignoring that part?

Despo, I don't know WTF is wrong with you, but ever since you joined this bloody game, you're calling me obvious scum in almost every single one of your post.

It's getting to the levels of becoming intolerable.

I don't care if you're town. I don't care if you're scum. IDGAF at this point. Find yourself someone else to play with.

I'd ask for a replacement if such was possible in this game.

This game is becoming absolutely no fun for me. I play maffia to have fun and have a nice game. This is not a nice game.

Dude......take it from the guy who has probably given Des more of a hard time than any 2 people on this site combined when it comes to his attitude in games and his aggressiveness. (Des can back me up on that one, I'm sure)...............you're being silly.

He can call you obvious scum all he wants.  He's really not the only one, btw.  Did you bold a vote prior to the one you didn't, and now are conveniently stating you'll remain this way for the game?  Doesn't that sound a little weird to you?  I think you're potential scum as well - I'm just not being as obvious as Des is.

Also, I'm pretty sure I remember you coaching folks in the past to have a thick skin for mafia.  Where's yours?

This also seemed strange on reread, since it was the same post and it wasn't an error why mention it?

Des is right I do wait for something to jump at me D1. Its D1 after all, no DL is set and i wanna be a bit careful. I dont want PR claims D1 yet again.

Having said that GF's last post...totally random does not answer anything people have been saying about GF. Lets see if he responds to vote pressure

vote GF

You know very well that PR claiming at D1 will happen anyway. It’s impossible to always lynch mafia at Day 1 in every single game, and the only thing that we can do is try our best.

Also, GF has a tendency to not make any sense. What do you think about the rest of the players?

Why are you only asking Dice, Peace has barely done anything but tunnel on GF (barring a few mafia bandwagon posts) and a post on Csarmi that was only to bring the focus back to GF

@Peace, what do you think on everyone else? What's making you so certain on GF?

@AVM, why the vote on Des?  Any reason?  Any comments on anything else?

@Tina, why the vote on Csarmi? Any response to Leelou?

@Leelou, why do you think Csarmis & Clouds vote are the most suspicious, AVM didn't include any reasoning for his? http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/85865-basic-weasley-vs-malfoy-at-the-ministry-day-1/?p=3081523

Either because I'm bad at teh mafias or OMGUS, whatever that means.

@Leelou, why do you think Csarmis & Clouds vote are the most suspicious, AVM didn't include any reasoning for his?

Because AVM and I play on a different site and I don't find his vote with no reason out of place yet. Later in the game he'll show himself as scum if he is.

I was going to make some sort of remarks, then I saw your awesome sig.  I have no further comments.

I THINK salami is at L-2, no?

Posted

@ Verb -- I know I've only played a limited number of games with him, but I've seen him get emotional in the only other DM game I played.  Perhaps that was a one time thing, but I feel like it was discussed he could get touchy about some things.

Nah, I'd rather vote someone I find scummy. Like oh um YOU.

Why policy lynch when we have obvious scum to hang?

Other stuff:

Obvious teammates CS and Cloud keep trying to link me to the other, quite funny. Although I do appreciate it- the more work they do trying to plant seeds of wifom that I could be scum, they're less likely to NK me. So thanks guys

Don't really get BFG's hangups bout the point I made about CS's "deliberate coding fail". Didn't have a problem with the way Verb commented on it. And I'll point out anything that seems a bit off to me, even if a plausible explanation also comes to me while I write about it.

Still not liking CS's responses about that btw.

Quoted the above two because of the differences in approaches.  Leelou = salami is someone who SEEMS scummy.  Despo = salami IS scum.

Only three people speak in absolutes: Sith, scum, and stupid town.

Leelou on the other hand is smart enough to know better than speak in absolutes on D1.  Her statement is far from a town tell but she's at least acting relatively normal.  For those that play with Despo, does he usually have these bold "OMG ITZ SO OBVIOUZ U GAIZ!" moments?

Posted

@AVM: Des, yes quite often.

The balancing. I'm probably gonna come across as a bitch now, but so be it. I have no idea how experienced Thorum is at playing or modding, and the few times I've seen him play, he hasn't convinced me he's a player that's got a very good grasp about game mechanics and balancing (a lot of people aren't, me included). With the lovers and the PJ and the ghost, I didn't feel like this was a basic game at all, and I worried that the set-up might be unbalanced and thus maybe unwinable for one of the teams, and that it would make the game less fun for everyone. So yeah, I'm probably a bitch for not trusting Thorum.

And I didn't mention CS because I don't have a read on him yet; I mentioned the players I had a read on. It takes me a bit longer than this to get a read on people, and you should know this about me by now...

FYI, he's likely more experienced at mafia than most of the players in this game....he just hasn't played consistently in years.

Like I said, I didn't know, I've seen him in one (two?) games and then suddenly he's modding. So my bad there.

Csarmi; I already said I probably come across as a rude bitch for my questioning of Thorum, I'm aware of it. I also think that he's a big boy and if he had a serious problem with me over it, he'd talk to me about it privatley. I haven't heard anything yet, but there's the offer for Thorum anyway, so you can stop worrying now. Also, this is the first time I've ever seen you try to propose a policy-lynch over someone questioning or critizing the mod... If you're gonna lynch me, do it in my gameplay. And I'll post things related to gameplay when I feel like I have something to say.

@Mish: Eh /shrug on the balance thing. Still think the fact that that discussion happened in N0 is telling. Think you jumped the gun a bit. As for CS, not sure about your response there. CS had been in the spotlight almost as much as me, I can see you not having a solid read on him, but not mentioning him at all seems strange.

Again, I mentioned those I had a read on. I thought it would be quite obvious that that ment I didn't have a read on anyone else yet. I'll remember to post a list of everyone I don't have a read on at all times.

Now I'm kinda PO'd because of Csarmi's posts on this page, so I'm gonna take a breather before posting more.

Look, stop with the formatting thing. Especially you. You have seen me play enough times, you do know my stance on formatting. No, I don't think it's weird.

Just for you:

#3079549 - my first vote, from PC, habit (DM evil red color) took over.

#3080327 - my second vote, from PC, bolded

#3082056 - my third vote, from phone, no formatting

Also, my vote couldn't possibly be a formatting error, because I ALWAYS write in code mode (I think I can count on one hand how many times I tried to post in editor mode). Any sort of formatting error would include unclosed tags and such.

As for my hide. Not sure why I lost it. Maybe cause I'm quite sick now. Maybe cause I had a ridiculous day at work.

@AVM - yea I did see Despo act something like this, but never at this level. What he's doing this game is just unreal.

George Weasley, Town, Lover

In the words of Lee Corso:

Anyone gonna vouch for this guy?

Who is your "Lover" CS? You're not off the hook that easy, not after claiming a role that you already knew was in the game. I want the name of one of your scumbuddies.

unvote

And FOS @ BFG for instantly accepting the claim

Posted

ONe more thing about the claim. It should go without saying, but still.

I will not give the name of my lover or hint at who they are in any way. It's not my place to do so, also, it would be foolish to share that information with the maffia.

They can choose to reveal whenever they will.

You being impolite (or, as you put it, "a rude bitch") is your problem, not mine. However, bear in mind this is a game. We are all on here to have fun.

Oh and btw, character claims mean nothing in this game. You should have already known that.

I suggest you read the rules carefully if that's what you think.

@Thorum, I got a few questions to you about character claiming and roleclaiming. Making it in public as it might interest others too.

      • Just for the record: Are the twelve possible characters in the game: Weasley: Arthur, Molly, Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, Ginny (Weasley) and Malfoy: Lucius, Narcissa, Draco
      • Is it possible for two players to get the same character to claim? How do you distribute 12 claims between 9 players?
      • Players aren't allowed to hint at whether the claim they got is their real character, right? To what extent can players discuss their own character claims? What is allowed and what isn't allowed?

Posted

I did read the rules Thorum. Specifically, this part-

- Polyjuice will be applied freely. This applies to lovers (yes, there will be lovers). It also applies to characterclaiming. I've given a town character to claim for everyone. Half these claims are lies, half aren't. You must stick to it. Even no hinting at the 'real' character.

tells me character claims are essentially useless this game. Since all scummies have been given safe characters to fake claim, we're not gonna catch anyone using that method.

Is there something I am mistaken about, or am I misunderstanding anything about the rules? No one is going to claim a Malfoy, in fact you even make it clear that doing so would be breaking the rules (and hopefully they WOULD get modkilled for doing something so dumb lol).

Posted

Why would the mod say he's given everyone a town character to claim, while giving two people the same character? Don't you think that would defeat the purpose of giving out town characters in the first place?

I'm not knowledgeable about the theme, but assuming you're right about the 12 characters, what makes you think they would be split between 9 players, and not the entire game? Again, Thorum ALREADY MADE IT CLEAR he gave everyone town characters to claim.

All you're trying to do is act like your hands are tied and that you can't defend yourself better because you're restricted from talking about your character or something.

Quit obfuscating, scum.

Yes. All twelve of you are (without PJ) one of these twelve characters. And all of these twelve characters are in the game.

That's in the rules (though cryptic). PAFO.

Any characterclaim you make has to be the one you have been assigned.  Which also includes confirming hints. For the rest, you are free.

To Desp (and anyone else), maybe you don't remember this about me, but I love maths. And that's enough hinting: PAFO.

Posted

@Thorum: so to be entirely clear about this. Are you allowed to claim that you're character A (your given character claim, which may or may not be your true character), then speculate about whether A is your true character?[/blue]

Posted

Yes.

If you "speculate" you are not the character you say you are, you cannot speculate as to which character you would then really be. Not even whether it's a Malfoy or a Weasley.

Autrement-dit: if you have received a fake character to claim, you are not allowed to claim or hint at or ... your real character, but must use your polyjuiced (fake) character to do all these things.  You are of course allowed to lie about having received a fake character.
