Unvoet Vote Nol

I can't figure out why you would immediately use your shot Cloud.  Did you only get to keep it for the day?

It seems like you just made EP a good target for possession.

Ok so I will reveal some info now:

I used the FLIR camera to check if Eternal Phoenix is a ghost or not. I started this game out as a Vanilla, and I got the item at the start of 09:00. It was an one-shot ability/item and I was told that it will expire at 10:00 or when a lynch is achieved.

Limited time use, Darthe.

still had he waited half an hour, we would know about Nolder right now. Cloud jumped the gun and waisted it.

If he had waited, and used it on Nol, you'd be saying he should have used it on you and he wasted it on Nol. Edit: cause that's how you play.

I am not sure who to vote for, because no one really stands out as being scummy to me. Maybe that will change on Monday?

Really?  46 pages of arguments and discussion, complete polarization of mafia players, several "slips" and debates about it, and no one seems scummy to you?

Let me restate what I meant.

No one stands out above the rest as being more scummy than anyone else.

Really Vam? So the fact that half the players aren't even posting, we have a few cleared players, and cases flying around. Yet you have neutral on everyone

Vam's MO. Always afraid to take a stand and wonders why there is always heat on him.

There is really too many players that I think are being scummy for me to just go ahead and pick one out of the group right now, and say " lynch him/her."

I did not say that I have a neutral on everyone. However, I agree that the he fact that half the players ain't even posting is of course a concern. So maybe a lynch should be on one of them?

If no one stands above the rest then they are all neutral

To me, there is a group of players who I think that are scummy, however, I am not sure as to whom in that group I will vote to lynch. However, Wombat is right. We do need more people to start playing and voting. Also, Wombat is rarely chatty in mafia games, correct? At this time, I find little faulty reasoning in his vote against Rand. Therefore;

Rand (1) - Wombat, Lily

Wombat (1) - Nolder

Nolder (4) - EP, Cloud, Peace, Talya

With 32 players, it takes 17 to lynch. With this group, it'll be a damned miracle if we even get close - the poor lynch rope is lonelier than that old, dusty bottle of Drambuie in the back of my liquor cabinet.  Come to think of it...

Um, I have two votes right?  Unless its right in which case I'm happier. :P

Let's analyze Rand's montstrous post that he's so proud of shall we?

1.  Admits that he sees what I am saying about telegraphing cases but says that he was worried about getting distracted in such a large game and therefore telegraphed his case to remind himself.  This doesn't hold water for me.  I usually don't reread my own posts.  Furthermore, if I wanted to remind myself of something, I wouldn't bury the reminder in the game thread where I might forget it but the mafia may very well see it.  Rand's explanation is implausible imo.

2.  Misinterprets Ape's vote on him to be for making an annoying quote block when clearly, the Ape was voting Rand for the content of the quote (as implied by Ape's expressed interest in anyone who may have followed his Ithi/Verbal lynch suggestions).

3.  Pokes fun at and dismisses another couple votes on him.  This seems odd to me.  Seems like he is trying to force a casual attitude towards votesd against him or he needs something to fill out his post.

4.  Agrees with my no lynch suggestion, albeit with somewhat convoluted reasoning (this is the only thing about this post I even remotely like).

5.  Launches into a bloviating treatise on grammar designed to criticize EP and defend Nolder.  This mammoth paragraph is needlessly verbose as well as incorrect.  Furthermore, he explicitly refuses to summarize it.  I could summarize his point in seven words:  EP sucks at grammar; Nolder didn't slip.  That wasn't so hard was it?  So why doesn't he do this?  Because he wants a mammoth post that looks impressive but says very little other than chastising EP and defending Nolder.  This is further supported by his apparent disappointment at the lack of comments on his post.

Rand has now overdefended both EP and Nolder as well as having tried to entangle the alignments of Hallia and Lily with that of Ithi.  Scumtastic.

For those of you wondering as to how exactly Rand's grammatical argument is incorrect, it is because EP's interpretation of Nolder's post was technically correct.  It is true that the suffix -ing can be used to turn a verb into a pure noun, but in this case, such an unambigious interpretation of Nolder's words would be iffy at best.  That is not to say that Nolder did not mean what Rand said he meant.  I don't recall Nolder having impeccable grammar and this is a very minor mistake, so I think to call it a slip is pretty silly.  That being said, it is equally absurd to say that EP's interpretation of Nolder's statement is grammatically incorrect.  In fact, out of context, EP's interpretation is much more likely than Rand's.  The verb "to recruit" already has a noun form ("recruitment") that Nolder could have used in his post without having to resort to the -ing suffix, thereby avoiding any possibility of his noun being interpreted as a gerund.  That being said, I think the context of the sentence makes it clear that Nolder meant for the phrase to be interpreted in the way that Rand interpreted it.  Still, claiming that EP's interpretation is grammatically incorrect is downright false and, in my opinion, qualifies as either overdefense of Nolder, or arrogant ignorance.

Also, I'm not sure why Rand says the word "recruiting" is not tied to any other verb or noun in the sentence, as with either Rand's interpretation or EP's interpretation, the word "recruiting" is the object of the verb "stop," but that's not particularly relevant to this game.

1. You're basing it off what you do, I do go back and look at my posts when making a case because I have a tendency to forget things, so it works for me.

2. Oh Ok, that's why, I honestly didn't know what that vote was for.

3. That was one vote...

4. The reasoning helps me think, that made me reach the same conclusion as you.

5. No, that was half criticizing EP and half practicing for my SAT because they ask questions like that. :P In all seriousness, I didn't want to do it in your short summarized way because then someone would have just told me either no, or explain why.  Guaranteed.  And please explain to me how it is incorrect.  Wait nevermind you go into it later.

Yes, I overdefended the confirmed town and corrected a grammar mistake.  So sorry.

And as for the grammar, I should have clarified that recruiting was connected to any noun or pronoun that implied possession.  And plus, even as a verb, "we can stop recruiting" does not imply possession of the recruiting by we.  Thats what I was pointing out was grammatically wrong.

I do recall not being a confirmed townie when you over defended me... you're logic is baaaaaad

UNVOTE VOTE RAND

literally just based on the bolded comment in green in the quote

You weren't at the time, but I ended up being right about you being town.  That's my point,.

Oh wait, right mafia tries to defend town as well, sorry I'm tired, my other one still stands though.

If you're confident in your stance, don't backpedal, which is what it seems like you did by having this additional statement

Nearly 50 pages in and several contentious arguments to choose from and you wont take a stand on ANY?

That's scum behavior pure and simple.

At the moment we have two possessed. just two. As we all started out as town, it's going to be difficult to narrow that down, with the number of players we have at this stage. I would say there is a main recruiter, the chances of getting him are very slim indeed. But instead of picking bones about how someone said something. Look at a person who is most likely to have been recruited at the end of the last hour.

1. An inactive - someone here just enough to be seen so not totally out of it, but someone who hasn't been implicated.

2. Someone who claimed an item (yep Ithi). She claimed she had something before the end of the last hour. So another likely choice for a recruit.

I doubt it would be someone who was on the top end of the suspect list. The mafia want to get their numbers up and keep them up as soon as they can. If we go for the Goons, then it might lead back to the boss.

Rand was nearly lynched in the first hour, so the chances of him being recruited are slim (doesn't stop him being the recruiter I know).

Talya..you really think it's a recruitment?  Since the phases flip so quickly..there really isn't time to send in an action unless the supposed recruiter is told to submit during the current phase.

Other than that I think your premise is sound..if there is a recruiter.
