Maybe I'm inexperienced but it ticks me off when people are in multiple games. Thanks a lot. You're a vanilla town who is admittedly ditching your game. Appreciate the help. You spend most of your time explaining how busy and pre-occupied  and all that, then toss out an off handed vote for a lynch. Scum or not. Vote Mish. You are offering nothing and throwing in the towel and just throwing out fog with useless posts between what could be constructive posts.

Now for me, what did I say to tick of anyone's scumdar? Yeah, I am a bit spammy. My apologies. I just try to be active. I have difficulty building arguments okay? Sue me. I play mostly from my gut.

The images stalked from mirror to mirror, silently looking for clues.  One spoke up but none answered.  Another called to the darkness.  A hand flashed out, hitting nothing.  All was silent.  As day closed, thousands of images of Evil Han smiled together.  Scattering the others was good for him and his team.  If no images were broken, they could hide forever.

Also, from this point on I am changing things.  I'm not telling you how, but know this, those who post more will enjoy the change, those who post less will not.  This game needs to pick up.

so, this game is comparatively slow? My last two games happened years ago so I really don't know. You seasoned players have some pointers for newbs?

1. Participate! Don't show up once in awhile and just recap the thread. That's ok once in awhile, hell it's even ok if you only post once every day or two. But the less you post the more you need to make up for it in quality. Most of you are in DPR's game as well, take another look at the case Des made. That's a good example of quality over quantity. You don't have to be right but you should be putting some effort into the game on one level or another. If you can't manage that nobody blames you. We all have work and school and social lives and all that and that's fine. But if you can't balance your time then just don't sign up because you make the experience that much worse for everyone else when you essentially sign up for a game and then bail out.

2. Touched on this in the last point but it's important enough to mention again, quality. Make good posts and good cases. You don't have to be right but being silent is often worse for the game. I'm not saying forsake good sense and/or strategy but I've noticed that this is a game where people work off each other. For it to be fun we all have to MAKE IT fun. A lot of games with newbies end up in what could be called standing around and shrugging at each other until the deadline rolls around. That's no good. Mafia is kind of hard but like anything the more you practice the better you get. If you never put any effort into casing people and making those cases as logically sound as possible then you will never get better. So take some risks and don't be afraid of looking stupid.

3. DO NOT MEET THE DEADLINE! Shocking? Nope, just a play on words. The deadline is not something you ever really want to meet. If you are lynching someone because the deadline is coming up that means you didn't utilize the time you had effectively. It makes you rush and prone to mistakes and voting on guesswork more than reason. It's ok to have the deadline looming if you are using your time well but if all you're doing is the aforementioned shrugging at each other then you're going to have a bad time. One point I want to make also is that that's from a townie perspective. Scum may try to waste as much time as possible in order to cause the deadline rush.

4. Talk or vote. If you are NOT talking you should be voting. If you aren't voting you either need to place a vote or you need to be talking. And I don't mean chit chatting I mean casing and deconstructing cases. If you have your mind made up or even if you're lost and you just don't know what to say or don't care to say anything then VOTE! Actions speak louder than words.

5. Commit to a course of action. What I mean by this, and this is why I hate joke voting most of the time, is if you're voting someone you need to be prepared for them to die. But wait, you say, what about if I just want to get a reaction out of the person? That's fine and dandy but if you tell the person you don't really mean to lynch them it takes some if not all of the threat out of the vote and the reaction you get will no longer be the reaction you would have gotten had the person seriously thought you were going to lynch them. "Joke voting" is less about jokes and more about feeling people out. You can't do that in a clean and safe environment so when you vote the other person needs to think you mean it.

That's all I got for now.

Thank you Nol. I will add something that touches on Nol's point #2.

Ask a specific player a question that they need to respond to or make a specific statement about them.  By doing so you force dialogue and get a better read on people.  A good example is the back and force between Dap and RTE on page 15 where Dap made a statement about RTE.  RTE was almost forced to respond and it generated a page worth of content and reads.

Good Example:  e.g.  Hey Nolder, something something scummy something something town something something.  What do you think about that?  Do you agree?

Bad Example: something something something joke something something

I totally agree, and I'm working so hard to get on while I'm here at work.  So you guys know I'm still the cloudflared at home.

Usually I have no problems being in multiple games at once. Sometimes, RL and my health messed with things. This time this game suffered the first week. I'm trying to make up for it now. Now I won't be able to get into gear fully before sunday, because this evening and the whole day tomorrow I'll be on a music festical to promote my magazine.

I wasn't "throwing in the towel". I wanted to avoid a random. Now TG is a cool mod and has no random it seems. But in most games, if no lynch is achieved, a random player dies and in a lot of cases, you don't get a coroner. That means you don't know if that player is town or mafia, or if they had a role. I would rather you guys have lynched me, than that happening. Simple as that.

Posted

Yes. And that was why I voted Rand D1. I know someone said there's no absolutes in mafia, this is actually one: Random is never good. For neither mafia or town.

Posted

I was not aware of the no coroner thing with a random. Hell, I forgot about the random thing all together. Makes sense now. Thanks.

On a side note. If you don't know her in the Facebook group you might have missed that Tig is having major cloud flare issues. She's trying though.

Hey guys sorry about my absence.  Peace, I read a little bit from you but if that constitutes a full case on Mish then I am not impressed.  Her reactions to it were more telling IMO.

Current Vote Count

Nolder (2) - Hally, Peace

Rand (7) - Dice, Nolder, Millon, Darthe, RTE, Misheru, Tigraine

Darthe (2) - Rand, Tsuki

Not Voting (2): Tiinker, Dapiano

With 13 alive it takes 7 to lynch

Deadline: The Deadline will be Monday at Noon EST (US). Countdown: http://www.timeandda...he Dragon Mafia

That's a lynch, scene incoming!

Hey guys, here is the rand train for analysis.  I think that despite the inactivity this game is actually going well for town.  We only have one death and we should have 3-4 confirmed town out there (depending on whether the doc self protected or not and why the mafia didn't have a kill N1), with a potential of having 5 by tomorrow.  With 5 confirmed town we would only need one or two more for it to become impossible for mafia to win if the cop/doc revealed on the spot and had no overlapping results.  Thus, while I am not recommending this as a strategy I think it should be acknowledged that this is not so negative a scenario as it appears.  Furthermore, if the doc is outted then the cop needs to be especially careful about timing a reveal properly etc..

Beyond this, I still feel that we should have lynched Suki today and I do not see how you all can't see that slot as clear scum.  He has fed almost every basic new scum mistake and you're just taking it.  Lynching Mish based on that Peace case would have been terribad in comparison.  I am ready to push on Suki tomorrow, and past that I have a bad gut feeling about tiink and Tigraine.  Tiink is usually more spammy/aware in his games and I picked back up on that in reread.  Tigraine I don't know that well but they don't appear to be benefiting town, rather skirting by with a general concensus.  I have to say that in hindsight I find Mish abrasive but town (or perhaps because of that) with her biggest detraction being that she actually tried to use the logic of "you know I don't play this bad as scum" when her head was on the chopping block and Dap seems pretty well on his town meta.

Posted

Well it's the goddamn truth so I'm gonna say it, live with it

I like the word terribad, lol.

I might be blind, but I don't see your case with Tsuki Darte. He makes newbie mistakes, so that makes him mafia?

Posted

Newbie mafia* mistakes.

ahh Bullshit. I'm not one of the people lurking, getting called on it, and then suddenly my post count doubles with no substance.

and then the moment Darthe makes a good point concerning you, you decide to jump on his lynch badwagon. Please.

Am I the ONLY ONE who saw Mish claim Lee "seriously", and then a few posts later say "go ahead, I'm just vanilla town"?? Come on, people. Double contradictive claims,

reminders of how she "always" plays 'better' as mafia... jeez.

Posted

and Hallia returns, with a spam post. Hasn't posted anything serious since the 22nd. Why so distant, Lady Selphie?

Avoiding making "newb" mistakes? Logical, given Darthe's fascination with me. But to be so silent... What gives?

*nodnod* Mine has finally gone away after 4 days!

Actually, I have. ^.^  But it's night, so there's not much to say.

That would only be if I was actually trying to lynch myself, the self vote was a jumpstart alone. Also I really hate policy lynching. That speaks in absolutes, and there are never absolutes. Case me if you will, but don't bring up policy lynching, weak reasoning if I've ever seen any. Slight scum read on you as well.

(No quotes, doing my best) I agree with Rand there, that there are never absolutes. It seemed about all you based your case for Rand on.

Last "serious" post. Not a cloudflare post. (BTW, it seems that cloudflare makes the perfect cover for lurking.... I'm just sayin'.)

Chill out my man, I just pointed out what Darthe was saying for Mish. Defeeeeeensive yo
