Rules

 

1. Mafia Alt Acounts will be provided to each player for use during this game. as such you can only post with your assigned Alt accoutn in the game thread. mistakes happen, but any submission (question, vote or action) by your normal account will be ignored (and possibly punished) in the offical game thread.

 

2. Absolutely NO out-of-thread communications may be either entirely or partially quoted, screen-capped or in any other way directly provided within the game thread.

 

3. If I think you are employing tactics that are outside the spirit of the game, I will modkill you.

 

4. Days will be about 72hrs, weekend days will count as 1/2 days. You’ve been warned. Night actions must be submitted within 48 hours of the day-ending scene (72 hours if that includes weekend time). Note to players: I'll try to avoid the deadline ending on a weekand, but if it does I will get on to check the game thread.

 

5. We will be running a normal mafia format with lynches during the day and night actions during the night.

 

6. Bicker as you normally would, but direct personal insults will not be tolerated. If this happens, I’ll consult the mod console to rule on a decision, however when in doubt, refer to rule 14 for the time being.

 

7. Night actions will occur simultaneously, unless otherwise specified. This means that two people night-killing each other will both die (unless one is saved somehow) . Any action not submitted by the deadline will be forfeit for that phase and I will only accept the first action submitted. Once you send in your action, that’s it! (No take backs!) Night will stay open until its deadline, or all actions are received.

 

8. Communication: You are not allowed to communicate about this game to anyone outside this game thread, unless specifically authorized.

 

9. This is a Deadline Game, if the deadline has come and gone but no majority is reached the person with the most votes at will be lynched and their corner report will not be posted upon death. if this happens multiple times durign the game i may start doing other things, like issuing PR's or blocking actions or somethign more evil. i can be inventive, trust me, its much better to get a Majority. you've been warned

 

10. If you are dead, don't post in the game thread. you get one "Argh, burn you all!" post but thats it.

 

11. Do not edit posts.

 

12. Quoting the Mod: You may not quote anything I say in PM or anywhere else about the game. You can’t game the mod. You can’t talk about what I said or may have said in my PM’s.

 

13. You can ask me questions, but I won’t guarantee an answer other than PAFO. Any question asked on thread will likely result in a PAFO so it’s best to ask in PM.

15. Please submit all Actions in the same thread as your role PM in the Alt Account; this helps keep things easier to find and much more organized; the mod likes organization.

 

16. This is a Basic 20 player standard game.

 

17. All votes must be bolded and in the color Red, unvotes must be similar (though unvotes can be any other color except for black if you wish); if you want to change your vote, previous votes must be unvoted first.

 

18. reveals are allowed, both of your character, role or real player ID.

- do not post ANYWHERE on DM except the game thread and this signup thread with your alt account. the alts are fun, i'm giving you guys the original signup thread to spam in as the alts if you wish to do a bit of play acting and have fun with. these will be the only two threads you are allowed to post in under the alt accounts here on DM.

 

- using the Alt does not exclude you from the CoC rules, the CoC applies to the Alt accounts aswell.

 

- the Alt account is for Mafia use only, remember that they have been used before this game and will be used after this game; any PMs sumbitted under them will be read by future players so keep that in mind.

 

- you may change the signauter and avatar, but the DM rules reguarding siggies and avatars still apply.

Barm sat at the bar and ordered another Jack and Coke; it was his 2nd of the night, but as watered down as the drinks were he barely felt a buzz. He brought the drink to his lips and sighed as the liquied warmed his insides. Once again, he turned in his chair to survey the surroundings. They were supposed to have met at 9pm, it was now 10:30; he decided he'd give them until the end of this drink then call it a night. 'Besides,' Barm thought to himself. 'We don't need the actually hardware anyways. This entire endeavor and meeting is a waste of time.' He turned back to the bar and reached for the near empty bowl of peanuts. At this point, he felt a light tap on his shoulder. He popped some peanuts into his mouth and turned to see two people standing before him with grins on their faces. The first was a tallish gentlman with unruly brown hair and a mischevious glent in his eyes, the second an equally tallish woman with curly red hair, glasses and a rather large bossom. A smile lit Barms face and he embraced the female in a hug. "Nyn, its great to finally meet you!" He released Nyn and shook the mans hand which turned into a bro hug, showing that they had a long standing friendship. "Verb, it took you long enough to get here."

 

Verb gave a ruefull grin and shrugged, Nyn spoke up immediately. "Its this damned traffic and airpport security. Took an hour alone to get through customs." Barm nodded, once again sipping his drink; it was a Saturday Night in New York, ofcourse the traffic was horrible. "I'm surprised you drove, though I can't blame you for not taking the public transit." As Nyn was about to answer, a slender woman with black hair appraoched, a grin splitting her face near in two. Barm had seen her sitting in the bar for the past hour, and curiously wondered why she was approaching now. Nyn on the other hand, gave an aclimation of glee as she greeted the new commer and Verb embraced her in a hug. "Nae! I'm glad that you made it safe." Verb said s he released her from the hug. Nae blushed a bit and shrugged, "Yeah the trip was good; Quibby should be back in a minute, we drove here together." At that point a tall lanky man wearing a Kid Rock concert tee-shirt walked up and drapped his arm across Naes shoulder; of which she playfully elbowed him in the ribbs while laughing. He nodded his head toward Barm and Verb, "Sup." then gave a wink to Nyn who couldn't help but stiffle a giggle.

 

Barm drained the contents of his glass and stood up; laying a few bills on the bar top to cover the expense and tip the bartender. "Right, so now we're all here let get down to business." Nae and Verb exchanged an uneasy glance between eachother, though it was Verb who spoke up as they all moved toward a table. "Actually Barm, we're still waiting on one more." Barm looked at him in a confused manner, and at that point a short and stout redhead burst into the room like a tazmanian devil with a bad hair day. Barm recognized her on the spot and sighed inwardly. "You told Red?!" He shot Verb and Nae a glance; Nae shrugged and went to go meet Red while Verb looked slightly abash. "We didn't mean to, it just sorta slipped out. Who knows, she might actually be a good asset to have; if shit hits the fan we might need a fall guy to take the heat, Reds the perfect person for the job if you ask me." Barm nodded, though he still would have preferred to keep Red out of the loop. Still, one couldn't put toothpast back into the tube once it was squeezed out. He put on his best smile as Red took a seat at the table.

 

"So wheres the infamous Bubba we're always hearing about?" Nyn asked with a sly grin on her face, Red blushed. "He couldn't come, between work and school and the boys it was something of a mirical that I could come; but he understood how important this meeting was. So, whats the plan?" At this quesiton, everyone looked to Barm; who took a deep breath and then laid out the plan. "Well, I've already got the codes to the server; now all we need are the serves themselves, or rather the hardwar Jason and Jenn use to run the serves off of. Once we have that, the site will be ours and its just a matter of changing the codes and blocking any backdoor entrances Jason or Jenn may have to the site. We'll also need to hack their email accounts, to get whatever start up info there is on the servers and all the contact info. This way if Jason and Jenn contact the server administration, we can block their attempts."

 

Quibby cleared his throat as Barm stopped talking. "And why exactly do we need the hardware?" Barm gave a smile, "Because nothing prevents Jason from pulling the plug on the power source on the external hard drive. The codes and all are work is useless without the physical hardware." The entire group nodded, Barm noticed that Red had her cellphone out and was texting on it; the sight of this made him uneasy, but his attention was diverted as Nae spoke up. "So how are we going to get the hardware? I mean, its not like we can ask nicely and Jason will just hand it over." Barm nodded, and it was Verb who spoke this time. "We're going to take it from them. For this to work, we're going to have to assume their identity on the site and with Tor. Basically, the real Jason and Jenn are going to have to disappear fro this to work."

 

Red's head popped up, startled, and her fingers stopped in mid text. "Perminately ... as in Murder?!" Unease rippled through the group and Barm looked quickly around the room. Verb continued to look at Red, a cold caculated look that sent a shiver down her spine. "If it comes to that, maybe; but for now, we're talking identity theft." Red pressed send on her text, closed her phone and stood up. "Then I'm out; taking control of the server is one thing, but you're talking crimes that could actually lead with us ending up in jail." Barm snapped a look back at Red, a cold look in his eyes. "This isn't exactly the type of thing one backs out of Red. You're either in, or you're not leaving here. To be frank, you weren't exactly invited to this meeting in the first place; but sicne your here now and know our plans, you're either an asset and staying or a liability that needs to be taken care of." Red blinked, opening and closing her phone in a nervous guesture. "You can't make me do shit Barm, and I'll not take threats idley either." Barm nodded to the others and they stood up, flanking Red and preventing her escape. "Its not a threat Red," Barm whispered into her ear. "Its simple fact."

 

Whit those words, Barm angled the gun in his pocket and pressed it against the small of Reds back; Red stiffened, a look of panic and horror commign acorss her face. Barm nodded to Verb, who snatched Red's phone from her hand and the group exited from the premise; Nyn and Nae chatting excitedly between the two of them, Verb scrolling through the cell phone, Quibby with his arm draped over Red's shoulders and Barm brining up the rear. As they turned down an empty dark alley, Verb bit off a curse; Barm looked inquiringly at him. "She texted Jason." The excited chatter died away at this and Quibby tightened his grasp on Red's shoulder; Red paled noticably and her body tensed as Verb handed Barm the phone, he read the text aloud.

 

"@ meeting now. planning 2 steal hrdwr & server. will txt u l8er w/ more info when safe." The entire group glared at Red, who at this point attempted to escape by stoming on Quibby's foot and throwing a hard elbow into his stomach. "Grab her!" Barm shouted as Red took off and Quibby doubled over in pain. Nae sprinted toward Red and tackled her to the ground; slamming her head into the pavement and straddling her body, Nae pinned her arms to the ground as well. Barm dropped the cellphone and stomped on it. "Well," he said in a cold tone. "This complicates everything. Red needs to be taken care of; make it look like a robbery gone bad." Barm handed the gun to Quibby and nodded to Verbal; the two of them went off to the side as the others proceeded to beat the snot out of Red.

 

"Our main advantage, the element of surprise, is gone. It'll make the job harder, especially depending on how Jason reacts to this news. It might be best to delay our plans." Verb gave a look of unease at Barm. "We've already wasted too much money, I think its best if we go ahead as planned. He still doesn't know who we all are, so the element of surprise isn't all that ruined. Red didn't relaly over hear much to ruin anything that she already has with that text." A gunshot rang through the air and the other 3 raced to where Barm and Vreb were standing; Quibby handing the gun back to Barm and Nae shouldering Red's purse. "Common, we've got to split before the police arrive." The group of them sprinted out of the alleyway without looking back.

A week passed and Jason never recieved that second text; he noticed with a feeling of unease, that Red had yet to log into her DM account. over the course of the next week, Jason went over the accounts of his staff and narrowed the list of possible suspects to 21. He talked with Jenn and they both felt the best thing to do was to gather all the Mods & Admins of DM, past and present, in one place and sort it out. So he sent out the email, with a prepaid plane ticket attached to each person. Everyone showed up, confused by the invite but happy to have a reason to get together without the buisiness of any of the Cons they all attempted to attend year round. And so the process of searching for the unknown assailents began.
