These are the best movies you saw that were released in 2011... not that came out in 2004 and you saw in 2011 :P Your list will change, so feel free to reply multiple times for updates... I know I will.

If you have trouble remembering what came out, use this site http://www.leesmovieinfo.net/WBOYearly.php

Sadly these are movies I have seen so far that came out in 2011. I highly doubt any of these movies are on my top 10 by the end of the year.

1. Battle: Los Angeles

2. Source Code

3. No Strings Attached

4. The Adjustment Bureau

5. The Rite

6. X-Men: First Class

7. The Mechanic

So crappy I can't even rank them:

-100: I Am Number Four/The Green Hornet

Movies that could make my top 10:

Moneyball

Attack the Block

Tree of Life

Harry Potter 7.2

Knights of Badassdom

I cant say I really liked any movies this year. Harry Potter was good. And I liked Limitless, but it made me mad because its suppose to be about Drug Addiction. Anyone who has never dealt with drug addiction might not be able to see it, but anyone who has can definately see it thru and thru. BOOK SPOILER. And in the book, The Dark Fields that the movie is based on, the main character ends up dying poor, and alone in a dingy motel room. In the movie he's practically a God. Besides the loss of message, its still a decent watch.

I kind of agree with you on both points. None of the movies I have rated will last the year I am betting. Also Limitless was going kind of strong before the end of the movie when the sun came out, everyone hugged and sang Kumbaya. Of course most audiences need a happy ending.

Well according to the National Board Of Review ....

We had the Gotham and New York Film Critics Awards earlier in the week, but the National Board of Review normally sets the pace for the awards season, and surprisingly, their best film turns out to be Scorsese's celebration of silent movies and the power of cinema itself, and I can't think of a more appropriate movie to top the Review's list. Some great chocies this year, including Tilda Swinton's performance in WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, which is seriously one of my favorite performances I've ever seen. She's stunningly great in it. Here are the winners:

Best Film: Hugo

Best Director: Martin Scorsese, Hugo

Best Actor: George Clooney, The Descendants

Best Actress: Tilda Swinton, We Need to Talk About Kevin

Best Supporting Actor: Christopher Plummer, Beginners

Best Supporting Actress: Shailene Woodley, The Descendants

Best Original Screenplay: Will Reiser, 50/50

Best Adapted Screenplay: Alexander Payne and Nat Faxon & Jim Rash

Best Animated Feature: Rango

Breakthrough Performance: Felicity Jones, Like Crazy

Breakthrough Performance: Rooney Mara, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Debut Director: J.C. Chandor, Margin Call

Best Ensemble: The Help

Spotlight Award: Michael Fassbender (A Dangerous Method, Jane Eyre, Shame, X-Men: First Class)

NBR Freedom of Expression: Crime After Crime

NBR Freedom of Expression: Pariah

Best Foreign Language Film: A Separation

Best Documentary: Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory

Special Achievement in Filmmaking: The Harry Potter Franchise - A Distinguished Translation from Book to Film

Top Films (in alphabetical order)

The Artist

The Descendants

Drive

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

The Ides of March

J. Edgar

Tree of Life

War Horse

Top 10 Independent Films (In Alphabetical Order)

Another Earth

A Better Life

Cedar Rapids

Margin Call

Shame

Take Shelter

We Need To Talk About Kevin

Top 5 Foreign Language Films (In Alphabetical Order)

13 Assassins

Elite Squad: The Enemy Within

Footnote

Le Havre

Point Blank

Top 5 Documentaries (In Alphabetical Order)

George Harrison: Living in the Material World

Project Nim

I'm very happy to see DRIVE recognized. That's probably going to wind up at least in my top three of the year. 13 ASSASSINS and ELITE SQUAD are tremendous as well. And I think it's been an outstanding year for film in general anyway.

This year I haven't been to the movies much because of Year 12, but from those I have seen, I loved:

Thor

Kung Fu Panda 2

Midnight in Paris

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Happy Feet 2

Movies that might make my top 10 when I get around to seeing them/when they come out:

The Deep Blue Sea

War Horse (so excited for this movie)

The Ides of March

A movie I'm really looking forward to but won't come out till January where I live:

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

8. Hobo with a Shotgun

Midnight in Paris introduced a slew of interesting characters and a very promising plot, but Allen didn't go anywhere with any of them. Disappointing considering what it could have been, but still pretty good.
