Red Ajah’s International Women’s Week – Movies and TV for, by, or about women

Recommended Posts

Women have long been portrayed in different ways through television and movies, depicted in fictional characters as well as factual documentaries. What are some of your favorites?

Feel free to share anything that stars women, is about women, directed by a woman etc… I’d love to hear your choices! Please try to post a link to more info if you think people might not be familiar with your choice. Thanks. ^^

There are so many to choose from .Personally I love strong women in movies and TV.

One of my current favorites is Alice from Resident Evil:

Following that would be Lara Croft:

Now I’ll move on to TV.

We can’t forget the old Bionic Woman spinoff of the Six Million Dollar Man. It’s a geek’s dream. ^-^

And for those Trekkies out there I just have to include Captain Janeway. What a wonderfully strong, smart, and brave woman.

Wow, fav's are hard to choose.....but I've seen alot more films than usual lately, from a wider range (dad brought a whole pile back from Aussie), I also find strong women the most inspiring usually.

Cara from the TV series Legend Of The Seeker:

Some of my favorites have already been mentioned (Eowyn, Elizabeth, Lara Croft), but 2 of my other favorite female characters are Susan Ivanova, from Babylon 5

And we mustn't forget Mary Poppins too! I used to jump around on the furniture in my living room to the chimney sweep song. LOL

You have to love a woman who can have fun wherever she is...even covered in chimney soot. LOL
