Violence harms the doer as much as the victim. - Tuatha'an saying

Fianna is a sweet, empathetic young girl. A loyal follower of the Way of the Leaf, she's now trying to figure out how to apply it to the new world she's found herself in. In the face of her new responsibilities and possible future as an Aes Sedai, she's inwardly worried about whether she can live by the word of the Way then. Perhaps she can cleave to the spirit of the philosophy and still not be considered Lost.

History

Although Fianna was born in Arad Doman, she really couldn't tell you where – that's just not the Tuath'an way. Besides, they didn't find the Song there, so they didn't stay there very long. As a result, the young girl lived in at least four different countries by the time of her tenth birthday; that had always been their way, hand in hand with the Way of the Leaf.

For the most part, life in the Bashalde caravan was peaceful. Of course, there were some moments of fear and distrust from the general populace as they passed through, but not much outright confrontation. The Tinkers tended to stay in the hinterlands unless they had things to sell, and cityfolk and villagers avoided them except when they had a hankering to buy. However, as she grew up, Fianna grew somewhat curious about how the other half lived. And, although she followed the Way of the Leaf, she had some compunctions about it. She often wondered if perhaps they could the Song by taking a more active role in the world, rather than waiting unresistingly for the world to come to them.

Fate decided the former, in her case.

The evening started much like every other for the camp. Fianna had wandered off into the woods of north Tarabon along with some of the other youngsters in search of roots and herbs for the evening stew – but screams and shouts soon summoned them back to their clearing on the run. As they broke through the last bit of woodland between them and the caravan, they found that a bunch of young men from the nearby village had sought to have a bit of fun by trying to ruin the campsite and run the peaceful Tuath'an off. The cookpot was knocked off the campfire, and two of the lads had taken sticks from the still-burning pit and started trying to set the wagons on fire.

Suddenly, a large man appeared amidst the commotion and knocked out one of their assailants with a single punch from a mail-clad fist. Immediately after the heavens opened, dousing friend and foe alike with rain and putting out the fires that the mob of hooligans had started. Two of them tried to run, but found themselves unable to move as they were wrapped up in flows of Air. And, out of the mist and smoke, a small woman with hair the color of dark honey appeared, adjusting a green-fringed shawl as she glared around the small clearing.

The Aes Sedai – Islara by name - was on her first trip out of the Tower since her raising, and had seen the mess as she journeyed by. Having a sense of decency, she'd done her best to stop it, put the fear of the Light into the boys, and now sent them back home to their village.

The camp reacted to the Green's intervention with very little in the way of thanks. It was all well and good that none of them had died, but the Tuatha'an elders severely doubted that they'd be treated with any sympathy once the village found out what'd happened to their boys. Even if they could prove they hadn't sought assistance from the Aes Sedai, they'd be blamed for their injuries, anyway. So any conversation with the woman was cut short as they started breaking camp and gathering what things they could. It was time to go.

Islara Sedai brought them up short, though. She didn't care whether or not they thanked her for her deed, but she was not going to abide them completely ignoring her. She was going to exact a price from them for her unlooked-for assistance – the opportunity to test every girl of appropriate age in the camp. Fianna ended up being the only one amongst the girls that seemed to get a response from the jewel dangling in Islara's hand, so when the Aes Sedai left, so did she.

The Green was not precisely happy about returning to the Tower so quickly, but at least she had a new novice to show for it. Fianna was conflicted about having to leave the only home she'd ever known, but now, at least, she'd get the chance to see something else of the world besides the caravans of the Tuatha'an. More importantly, she'd be able to find the answers to those questions she'd had about the Way and the world for so long.

beautiful bio. I'm especially pleased at your creativity and insight with the Tinkers, a race that is not often (to say the least) considered in RP's. Very nicely done, indeed!

Consider this CC'd
