Brushes with fame... all in one night..

Recommended Posts

Okay.. so...  Tonight was a concert. The Donnas were headlining.. accompanied by Juliette and The Licks and Donita Sparks..

I got to meet (formally), Allison from The Donnas.. and various other people from aforementioned bands.. Also.. I got caught in the bathroom with Maya, Allison and Brett from The Donnas..

Proof that I win. I look like crap, but doesn't Juliette Lewis look amazing? My mother chatted with her since she got to go in to sit down. (mom's got foot probs and couldn't stand outside for another hour).. so Mom got to see The Licks warm up. :) Told Juliette that I love her.. etc.. I'm still glowing. :D

Ed Davis (Juliette and The Licks) gave me his drumsticks from the night. I had mentioned wanting to start a collection and then he hunted me down to give them to me.  :) *big cheesy grin* Thus starting MY drumstick collection.

I just wanted to be giddy. Maybe someone here will appreciate the awesomeness of AT LEAST getting a hug and some love from Juliette Lewis.. (who is an amazingly gracious woman and most deserving of her fame)

:D I am so happy right now. :D I can't stop smiling.

That's pretty flippin' sweet, hon!

I've had a few mini-brushes with fame.  When I was out in California, I was mere inches from Clint Eastwood's bum (I was going up a set of stairs, and he was right in front of me.. I didn't know it was him until someone pointed out that the 'slow old man' was Clint himself <.<).

My friend Robert somehow managed to end up in Dizzee Rascal's video for Pussyole (Old Skool) as the dancing white boy - he's still single, ladies!  Been waiting for my sister to give him a chance for 8 or 9 years now, and no dice ;)

The bassist from Vallejo tried to talk me into coming to an afterparty in  BFE, Texas... didn't end up doing that.

There has probably been more, but too tired to think straight right now :)

The most famous person who went to my school (that I know of) was Greta Scacchi. ;)

The most famous people I've been face to face with would be Louise Post (she kissed me on the cheek...SIIIIGH), and the dudes from Bush.

But Laddie, I am sooooooooooo jealous. Of all of the bands you saw. Seriously. Donita Sparks is pretty damn legendary too! Juliette and the Licks have been recommended to me but I haven't heard them yet. I hear they put on a rockin' show though.

The Donnas - well I already love them *g*

Donita's a bit of a... witch with a b. As is her drummer. She mentioned that she was gonna sell CDs over at her booth and then sign them. So I bought one and then spent the rest of the concert chasing her down trying to get the stupid thing signed.

Juliette is AMAZING in concert. She dances, she crowd surfs, she is just.. amazing. :D

The Donnas are also amazing. I wish I could have gotten more than 1 decent pic of Torry, though. :((

Anyway.. yes. They are two bands that I will see any/every chance I get from here on out. :D Oh yes.

Thats awesome!!

My closest "brush" is Albert Pujols of the St. louis Cardinals baseball team went to high school with me.  I was friends with his cousin but didn't really know him very well.  The only other one is I went to a wrestling match for WWE and got to shake hands with Randy Orton and Chris Benoit.

Coolness Ladria!!!  8)

I just heard she has a band last week. My BF and I were watching Natural Born Killers (Woody Harrelson = YUMMY!), and he told me that is really Juliette singing on the movie.

Only had a few brushes myself... I once served a chili dog and sweet tea to Vanilla Ice. My grandmother had a motocross tract, and he was up from Miami promoting his bike shop. It was way after his so called music career, and he’s lost the blonde do (he’s actually a red head) and grown a light beard. I didn’t even know it was him until he’d left my booth.

I’ve met Florida Senators and Congressmen at the job I work now, but while I was still in high school, I went on a trip to Washington DC with my local FFA chapter. We went to see our congressman at a committee meeting, and Sonny Bono was on the committee. We (the 4 students) rushed up to meet him when the meeting was finished. He was super nice, and when he saw our cameras, offered to do a picture before we even thought to ask. I was very sad when he died, and told everyone what a nice guy he was.

Wow, just shows how out in the middle of nowhere. The closest things I can come up with are...

A) I know someone who's brother went to school witht the girls from Lillix ( a rock band from BC)

B)My sister-in-laws sister went to school with Wayne Gretsky's brother.

That's as close as I come.

I am one of those people who is a totally massive music fan, i.e. music is my life. And yet I very rarely have any brushes with fame. Other people run into my favourite rock stars on the street, sit next to them on the plane, whatever. I never get any of that stuff happening to me :P

I remember in school, a girl I know went to the airport to pick up a family member and the Smashing Pumpkins came off a plane nearby. Argggh i was so jealous!!

I'm pretty sure my friend went to school with Billy Corgan's brother (in Illinois), Taya...  hee hee...    And one of my brothers sat by Billy and his girlfriend at a play in Chicago... lol.

I really haven't had any brushes other than geek ones.  Like me going to a couple Trek conventions.  :P  Have met Kate Mulgrew, Robert Beltran and Robert Duncan McNeil from Voyager.  Also met Jeff Conaway (Kenickie - Grease) while he was in Bab 5.

Was in line near Lorenzo Lamas (also of Grease fame... lol, wtf) at Great America in Illinois and my nephew went and said hi to him after the ride and he had my nephew take a pic of him and his girlfriend, lol.

Most recent was passing Alan Rickman on a quiet sidewalk in London and he walked into a house nearby.  My sister and I were like, "Was that... yeah!"

Having worked with organising concerts, I've met quite a few Swedish musicians. Not gonna namedrop though, since few outside Sweden would recognize them.

Of the ones you might recognize, I've been drinking beer with Nina from The Cardigans sitting right behind me.

And I almost got to party with Robert Smith from The Cure. Long story short, some years ago, I went to a gig in stockholm. Afterwards, some people I sortof knew asked if I wanted to tag along downtown to a club, but I preferred to stay, as right next to the arena was a pub that held a party for people who had been to the concert.

Afterwards, I heard that the people who wanted me to go had managed to get invited into the VIP-room, where The Cure had been partying. Bummer.

I sort have had one. I dated a guy who ended up being the drummer for the Chris Perez band for a while. They won the Latin Grammy Awards the year after Selena was killed. But he was the drummer right after the one who was with the group when they won. So yes and no... I have found out he has been on a couple other albums too. *Cheers Alex's Success* ;D

>:( Grr photobucket...
