I found my housemates online!

Hey everyone, I thought I'd do one of those weirdo things I used to do way back when, and actually post about something going on in my "real" life. Hehe.

I am moving into a sharehouse, in fact I'm over halfway moved in. This is my last night in the centre of the city where I've been since Feb of this year. The interesting thing is that everyone asks how long I've known my "friends" that I'm moving in with, when in actual fact I only met 'em a few weeks ago. :) And I met them because I was thinking of moving into their place.

Shareaccomdation.net is where I found them!

In a way it's sort of like internet dating, or having "online" friends - the only difference is that I'm going to have to be their friend whether I like it or not. *g* I did choose them, I suppose, but it's a gamble!

I'm not worried, I just think it's interesting the way this world is now, and how you can find your housemates. :) And of course I still would get funny looks for having online friends, but not for finding my housemates online. I have seen this in action, so trust me, it's true!

The last 2 share houses I lived in, I met the people through a site like that :)

All the people in question turned out to be freaks ... in not good ways :P Which is the reason I live on my own now.

Having said that ... I know people that its worked for, so good luck!

Well see, my number one choice is living on my own. I've done it before and it's ideal for me. But I can't afford it!! ;) You know all about the rent prices here in Perth, they're pretty crazy. And I for one like to live in "nice" (or at least reasonable) areas, so I am not really gonna rent a place out in the doldrums just because I can afford to. ;)

So yeah...for now it's this. We'll see how it goes. My friend Amanda has had lots of success doing it this way, so hopefully I will too. I have already lived with a freak, I don't want to repeat that :(

Yeah, I know about the crazy rents :P

I moved into my current place in April last year ... it's in Mt Lawley.  But very reasonably priced for the area.  And I've not had a single rent increase or inspection since I moved in.  So ... yeah.  Only point of complaint is that my real estate agent keeps stuffing up and threatening me with legal action because of it.  Long story, don't feel like typing it out now.

I've been really wanting to move for about a year now, but I can't afford anything in an area I'd want ... so I stay where I am :)

I was going to say "bad area = Gosnells" in my last post, but thought, Ooh, she might live there! So I'm glad to hear I wouldn't have offended ;) Mt. Lawley's not too bad, I've considered buying there.

But I'm closer to Freo now, and I work in Freo, so that works ;)

I know of Gosnells, but not even where it is :P

I'm pretty bad with Perth suburbs ... if I've lived or worked there, or know people who live there, I usually know where it is.  But random suburbs like that, I have no idea :P

I've always lived reasonably close to Perth city ... Northbridge, West Perth, Maylands, Highgate, Mt Lawley ... with a short stint in Tuart Hill.  Since I've always worked in the city area ... West Perth, Subiaco Oval, the WACA and Members Equity Stadium ... that's what works best for me :)

I got followed home one night when I lived in Maylands ... that was scary.  Most of the others I've lived within about 10 metres of the bus stop or whatever, though.
