HOUSE CHAMPIONSHIP: Day Seven (Gryffindor)

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies and Gents!

Today's task is quite simple. I will give you a list of FIFTEEN Quotes. Working as a team you must decide what Book and what Chapter you think they are from. You get one mark for the book and another for the chapter. Houses will then be ranked and given points dependent on that! First: 100 points Second: 75 points Third: 50 Points Fourth: 25 points. YOU MUST NOT USE THE BOOKS A very important part of this task is working it out, not finding the answer. These are meant to be difficult. Any cheating that I found about will lead to your House getting no points from this task and having 100 points deducted.

You must have worked these out by 4pm GMT tomorrow and get your Head of House to EMAIL your final answers to me at harrypotterweek@hotmail.co.uk

Good Luck Guys. Here are your quotes.

1."Shake 'em off…shake 'em off," he would mutter whenever he did this.

2. "I do hope we've put enough stamps on."

3. " I won't have this namby-pamby, wishy-washy nonsense about not hitting people who deserve it."

4. "But won't they notice if you shut your ears in the oven door?"

5. "The best thing to do would be to stomp on the lot of them before they start attacking us all."

6. "Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it."

7. "I am no longer your teacher, so I don't feel guilty about giving you back this as well."

8. "I must ask you not to scream. It might provoke them."

9. "Nobody missed me even when I was alive."

10. "Was Binky an old rabbit?"

11. "But it would have been better manners to drink it, you know."

12. " Better wizards than you have lost buttocks, you know!"

13. "He's a Curse-Breaker, isn't he, he likes a bit of adventure, a bit of glamour… ."

14. "In your admirable haste to ensure that the law is upheld, you appear, inadvertently I am sure, to have overlooked a few laws yourself."

15. "It is a myth! It does not exist!"

Chapters . . . yeesh!  I never paid attention to what chapter something was in!  I just read the blasted book, not memorized it! LOL!  I don't even know how many chapters each book had!  Do I get any points for remembering who said it?

1."Shake 'em off…shake 'em off," he would mutter whenever he did this. I hope someone else knows this one!

2. "I do hope we've put enough stamps on."  Molly Weasley in Order of the Phoenix.  This is relatively early in the book, written in the letter she sent to Harry, but what chapter . . . *sighs*  I do remember that Uncle Vernon was practically apoplectic because the mailman stopped to ask about it.  ETA: THe more I think about this, the more I think this might actually be in Goblet of Fire . . . early in the book.  When Mrs Weasley wrote to firm up plans to pick Harry up for the World Cup.

3. "I won't have this namby-pamby, wishy-washy nonsense about not hitting people who deserve it."  Aunt Marge in Prisoner of Azkaban. Again, early in the book but I don't think it was Chapter 1.  This was just after she asked Harry if they used a cane at St. Brutus's and he told her that he'd been beaten a lot there.

4. "But won't they notice if you shut your ears in the oven door?"  Harry to Dobby in Chamber of Secrets.  I'll go out on a limb here and say Chapter 2. *shrugs, exasperated* I think it's when Dobby was warning Harry not to go to Hogwarts and that he'd be in so much trouble if his family knew he was warning Harry Potter and that he'd have to punish himself for it.  He said his family wouldn't notice though because he was always having to punish himself for something.

5. "The best thing to do would be to stomp on the lot of them before they start attacking us all." I hope someone else knows this one, too!

6. "Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it."  I think this might have been Ron to Harry in Sorcerer's Stone.  Early on, before the Sorting Ceremony.  Ummm - chapter 5? *pulling yet another number out of a hat*

7. "I am no longer your teacher, so I don't feel guilty about giving you back this as well."  Professor Lupin in Prisoner of Azkaban. How many chapters were in this book?  This was in the next to last or last chapter, maybe?  It was when he was giving the Marauder's Map back to Harry before he (Lupin) left Hogwarts after resigning his post.

8. "I must ask you not to scream. It might provoke them."  Professor Lockhart in Chamber.  Ummm . . . Chapter 6?  It was just before he released the Cornish pixies into the classroom.

9. "Nobody missed me even when I was alive."  Moaning Myrtle in Chamber of Secrets.  Chapter 12 *another one from a hat*  It may have been later - I think it was when she was telling Harry and Ron how she died and that it took a long time for people to realize she was dead.

10. "Was Binky an old rabbit?"  Hermione in Prisoner of Azkaban.  Chapter 14 *hat again*  This was when Lavendar got news that her rabbit died and she took that as confirmation of the "thing she'd been dreading" happening, as "foreseen" by Professor Trelawney in Divination.

11. "But it would have been better manners to drink it, you know."  I think this was Professor Dumbledore to the Dursleys in Half-Blood Prince when he stopped by to pick up Harry.  He magicked something to drink and offered some to the Dursleys. Chapter 2?

12. "Better wizards than you have lost buttocks, you know!"  Mad-Eye Moody in Order of the Phoenix, about Harry putting his wand in his back pocket. Chapter 4?  It's when members of the OotP showed up to escort Harry to their headquarters.

13. "He's a Curse-Breaker, isn't he, he likes a bit of adventure, a bit of glamour… ."  This was about Bill Weasley, if I’m not mistaken, but can’t remember who said it or what book it was in!  Hermione, maybe?  But what book?!

14. "In your admirable haste to ensure that the law is upheld, you appear, inadvertently I am sure, to have overlooked a few laws yourself."  Professor Dumbledore in Order of the Phoenix. Chapter 3?  This was at Harry's hearing about using the Patronus spell in Little Whinging when he and Dudley were attacked by dementors.

15. "It is a myth! It does not exist!"  Professor Binns in Chamber of Secrets about the Chamber of Secrets. Chapter 6?

Well Done Daurya,

1. that isn't Ron having nightmares about spiders would it...after the Chamber of Secrets

5. this again reminded me of the Spiders in the Chamber of Secrets

13. This was near the beginning of Prisoner of Azkaban, after Ron had got back from Egypt.

Hope this helps anyone else have any ideas

11. "But it would have been better manners to drink it, you know."

That one is later on, because the first chapter is the meeting with the Prime Minister and the second one happens at Snape's place. So I'd say it's chapter 3.

13. "He's a Curse-Breaker, isn't he, he likes a bit of adventure, a bit of glamour… ." That one is either in tHBP when they wonder about how Bill could have got himself engaged with Pleghm. But which chapter was that? :P Cp. 5?

*grins* here's hoping there's extra credit for knowing who said it, Daruya! *grins* Great Job! :D I think I'm naming you a House Prefect. *laughs*

I agree with Talya, #1 would be Ron about the Spiders and I believe it came AFTER the Chamber of Secrets and the spiders in the forest, so, perhaps The Prisoner of Azkabahn?

I am totally clueless about chapter numbers, so I'll go with whatever ya'll decide there.

Ala, you could be right about 13. But wasn't he working in  gringotts then and in the earlier one he was working Egypt as a curse-breaker...can't remember where the wording came from though.

Lor, I'm sure it would have been at the beginning of the The prisoner of Azkaban, just to tie it in...who knows, unless we act like Sytherins and cheat ;) ;D

I edited my answer to #2.

Larmie, I think you may be right about the chapter that #11 is in.  First was the prime minister meeting with Fudge, then Narcissa going to Snape, then Dumbledore going to get Harry.  So Chapter 3 is a good guess.

Okay, all - I just e-mailed Nia with the answers as posted below.  I hope she gets them since I sent them from work . . .

Lor, I apologize for "usurping" your authority to send it in but . . . well, we need the points! LOL!

Hopefully in my haste to gather and compile I didn't miss anything . . .

1."Shake 'em off…shake 'em off," he would mutter whenever he did this.  Ron about the Spiders and I believe it came AFTER the Chamber of Secrets and the spiders in the forest, so, perhaps The Prisoner of Azkabahn.  Final answer: PoA. Chapter: we haven't a clue.

2. "I do hope we've put enough stamps on." Molly Weasley in Goblet of Fire.  This is relatively early in the book, written in the letter she sent to Harry to firm up plans to pick Harry up for the World Cup.  But what chapter . . . *sighs* I do remember that Uncle Vernon was practically apoplectic because the mailman stopped to ask about it.

He said his family wouldn't notice though because he was always having to punish himself for something.

5. "The best thing to do would be to stomp on the lot of them before they start attacking us all."  Chamber of Secrets. Chapter: haven't a clue

6. "Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it." I think this might have been Ron to Harry in Sorcerer's Stone. Early on, before the Sorting Ceremony. Ummm - chapter 5? *pulling yet another number out of a hat*

This was in the next to last or last chapter, maybe? It was when he was giving the Marauder's Map back to Harry before he (Lupin) left Hogwarts after resigning his post.  I'll say last chapter but I don't remember how many chapters were in the book.

8. "I must ask you not to scream. It might provoke them." Professor Lockhart in Chamber. Ummm . . . Chapter 6? It was just before he released the Cornish pixies into the classroom.

12. "Better wizards than you have lost buttocks, you know!" Mad-Eye Moody in Order of the Phoenix, about Harry putting his wand in his back pocket. Chapter 4? It's when members of the OotP showed up to escort Harry to their headquarters.

13. "He's a Curse-Breaker, isn't he, he likes a bit of adventure, a bit of glamour… ." Pretty sure this was about Bill Weasley- in HBP when H,H, R, and G are discussing Fleur (Phlegm) and Bill being engaged.  Chapter: 5?

Chapter 6?
