Myths:

Arachne

Arachne was a skilled weaver, so skilled that people would come from miles around just to see her work. Over time Arachne became proud, so pround that she began to boast that she was a more skilled weaver than the goddess Athena. When Athena heard this, she became angry and challenged Arachne to a weaving contest. Arachne accepted the challenge, and so the mortal and the goddess began to weave. They wove well into the night and didn't finish until the morning. Athena's cloth depicted the god and goddess on Mount Olympus, but Arachne thought she would be funny and depict the gods drunk and making a big mess. Despite the seemingly blasphemous cloth, Arache's work was still the better. Athena became angry at her defeat and turned Arachne into a spider. "You wanted to spin, so go ahead spin!" the goddess told her.

Cassandra

Cassandra was a prophetess and daughter of the city of Troy. One day she caught the eye of the god Apollo. She refused his advances, and as a result he cursed her, decreeing that no one would believe her prophecies. Later, she prophesied the attack of the Trojan Horse, but no one believed her, and Troy was defeated. Cassandra was taken captive by King Agamemnon, whom she warned that his wife, Clytemenstra, was going to kill him. He did not believe her, and he lost his life at the hands of his wife, who killed Cassandra as well.

Niobe

Niobe was blessed with seven children, of whom she was very proud. Her pride caught the attention of the goddess Leto who only had two children, Apollo and Artemis. Leto sent her children to teach Niobe a lesson, and so the siblings slaughtered Niobe's children. As Niobe stood crying over the bodies of her children, Leto came to her and said, "now who has the most children?"
