What is one cliche/trope that you have seen used too much but can't get tired of?

5 points for signing in and 5 for answering the above question.

For me, it is the villain turning out to be a close relative, usually father, of the main character.

At first the hero seeming to be a normal person but later finding out they are born for the role through some bloodline trait or prophecy.

ROFL Lessa! 10 points for that good laugh, I thought of this!

Probably this, although whether or not I get tired of it depends on how well it's done.

I like Nikon's and Lessa's and I'm going to also add the chosen ones usually being teenagers.

Normally works. Still want a story where the hero is a granny who spent most of her life baking cookies for the village kids.

Cars are never locked, and contain the keys needed to start them.

You see this all the time. The keys are usually in the visor or on top of the wheel lol

There's certainly a number of ways to do that. Probably need to add something like the granny discovering she can use magic and then have the magic extend her age though, effectively making her longer (like Sharina (?) in WoT). Otherwise you can't exactly have fighting scenes or anything.

Then again, if it isn't fantasy it already becomes easier because maybe the hero isn't a hero in the "beating up bad guys" sense.

If her magic is strong why would she need to physically beat up people. Or her grandson can do that

Monologue's by the villians before their undoing

Definitely monologuing. Even heroes do it a lot, even if their monologues are a lot different in content.

What is trope?

I hate how in movies they never run out of ammo. Like seriously, you just shot twenty five times and not once did you change the magazine.

Better answer! When the hot, arm candy for the corrupt antagonist turns out to be an undercover agent, then team up with the protagonist(s) to take him down.

Lookin at you Rush Hour 2! You know what you did.

Uhhh....when the popular guy is actually a really great person and leaves his mean, petty arm candy for a much more beautiful/attractive but under appreciated non-popular main character who never thought such a thing was possible? Idk, at this moment my brain apparently thinks it's never partaken of any fiction ever and is quite blank

(also blame Eebs for me rising from the grave)
