I had this little inkling in my head this morning that I could swear I've seen Eldrick pull this self-sacrificing act as scum before.

 

So I pulled up Shad's database and started skimming through ISO's starting with the first game I really remembered where Eld was mafia (Avatar)... the earlier scum games were ones where he was just learning and less able to be calculating.

 

In Ragnarok I found the exact opposite, actually, where he called it scummy for someone not to prefer to keep themselves alive if they knew they were town.

 

In Bolshevik, he tried the opposite card, saying being willing to self-hammer was more of a town move because mafia would need to stay alive.

 

In Lost, he went through a short period of giving up/not caring under pressure but bounced back and did not maintain the uncaring facade.

 

The closest thing to sacrificing himself I could find was actually admitting to be scum and conceding... so I definitely was not remembering correctly.

 

While I still think he's totally capable of playing it cool as scum and not trying to save himself, I am starting to think this isn't the most likely under the circumstances.

 

More pondering.

- Eldrick threatens to self-vote if anyone votes him

- Eldrick starts train on Ed after discussion with Spades and Hally

- Tigs votes Ed due to lack of content

- Eldrick encourages me to hammer

 

- Hallia killed N3

 

Events of D4

 

- Eldrick lists Tigs and Adella as most probable scum

- After discussion decides Tigs looks better and votes Adella

- Tigs comments on Adella's case on me and says she doesn't like the way she found my hammer on Ed suspicious, and hammers Adella

 

- LZM killed N4 (suspicious of Tigs)

 

Events of D5

 

- Eldrick rules out Shanti as scum, votes Tigs and offers himself as a lynch option instead if desired

- Tigs confirms townread on Shanti and votes Eldrick

- Spades proposes voting Eldrick first, then Tigs if Eldrick flips town

- Eldrick self-votes and says he's interested in who hammers

- Eldrick says he is starting to tinfoil on Shanti

- Spades acknowledges reasons to tinfoil on Shanti

- Spades and Eldrick discuss Tigs' position on the Darthe lynch and who would most likely have shot Dice/Cass instead of Hallia

- Eldrick votes Shanti based on NK logic

- Tigs reiterates her town read on Shanti and then suggests she is too townie, but "how do you work a case on someone for being too townie?"... confirms Eldrick as strongest town read

- Eldrick asks how she would feel about lynching Shanti after he flips town

Town played an outstanding game all around and Tig fought hard enough to earn her way to F3 anyway.  Really a fun game to watch, everyone tried hard and there was no major drama.  10/10 would watch again.
