Dear Everyone, He has gone where pain and suffering are no more. Whenever he was able to be at the computer, he checked the blog first thing. Your e-mails REALLY MATTERED to him. He loved them … and I think in some sense he loved you all. I never thanked you for all my birthday messages, but I do now. We had a nice party…about a dozen people, ranging in age from 4 months to 82 years, sitting around the dining room table which had been covered with lots of newspaper, picking our own lovely boiled local shrimp, eating corn on the cob and homemade biscuits , and later eating watermelon; a good deal of white wine went down our gullets, too. I should add, no cooking was done by me. My dearest first cousin, also named Harriet (we’re both named for her mother), did it all, just about. It was a happy time. Jim made it so. He came like the wind, like the wind touched everything, and like the wind was gone. These are words Jim said to me several books ago, in the weary but always thrilling hours of putting the manuscript to bed, ready to carry to New York in the morning — I remember grabbing a piece of discarded script and scrawling those words up the margin, because they were so beautiful. He was talking about Rand. I of course am not. I know he touched all of you. Thanks for being there. Here is his final interview, given to the local newspaper. Notice the date:
And he did march, guys. He marched toward that horizon until he crossed it, where we cannot follow yet. The word now, the only possible word, is Onward. Go for it. With love. Consider yourselves hugged. |

i love Robert jordans books i am so sad that he died, he helped me create my own world and i do so thinking of him at all times. MALKIER!!! I consider myself dragonsworn. Robert Jordan should have met Tolkien if they had made anything together it would have been heavenly. but his books already are. i hope to make a movie out of this, with his wifes permission of course. CURSE YOU SHAI’TAHN.

I know this is incredibly late. I have been reading WOT since my freshman yr in high school back in 2001. My senior yr I had so much work on my plate with applying to colleges, working, and spending the last remaining time with friends that I wasnt able to continue reading past Winter’s Heart. I have recently graduated from college and now find myself with a summer reading list…starting off with the Eye of the World. I started reading it, and I am completely captivated all over again! Robert Jordan truly was a remarkable man. He has inspired much of my own writing. He is truly missed. I look forward to finishing this series so that I might finally know the fate of the Dragon, and my favorite character Perrin, and of course Mat.

Dear Harriet, my name is Erik. Truth be told i only came across the WOT series when i was in prison in Texas. i have not read them all yet, but, i can honestly say that it is the best series that i have had the honor , and pleasure of enjoying. I only just found Dragonmount about two months ago and learned of his passing. Honestly i cried. I wish i knew what else i could possibly say other than thank you. I am looking forward to completing the series when i get the rest of the books. And like many others, I will read , and re read them all. My heart goes out to you.

Your husband was a genius. I’ve never before been so wrapped up in a story as I have been with his. I’m A soldier deployed in Afghanistan and his work is the only thing that quickly passes the time. I’m glad i am only on The Shadow rising, because i do not know what i would do if i was further or done with the series I have 7 months left here. i can’t help but to cry while writing this, only because I’ll never read anything better in my life then this series. i have been inspired by a great man.

Dearest Harriet and family,
I.ve been reading your husband’s book’s for years and truth be told that after his passing I
was worried that no one would be able to tell the end of the WOT.I have finished reading The
Gathering Storm foe the third time after re-reading the whole series again, and though I don’t think
“Mr.Joeden” would have done it in the same way, I found that Mr.Sanderson had really understood the
world of WOT.Understandably as he says he has read all the books many times. And that sounds like
he really is one of us, as we all have reread them. True fans of the W.O.T. books that is.
I wish to thank you for having the unshelfish vision to find the right writer to and to allow
him to finish the series.
your fan forever

Thank you for continuing his epic work – it will be a lasting tribute to his memory. He led us on to dizzy heights as we laughed, cried and thrilled as the wheel turned, and we will keep his vision before us.

Even knowing how long it has been now, it is still so hard to imagine the world without Robert Jordan. I know that this comes very late, but I am sorry for the loss that the family and world have had. We will all miss him terribly. I have been reading his books for years and look forward to seeing what is done with the last three. I hope that all goes well and the Jordan Team finishes the work of WOT that Jordan started an age ago.
“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.”
May the legend of Robert Jordan live forever on the winds of time. May his myths and legends never be forgotten. May the Dragon ride the winds and find his peace at last.
