On October 27, Book 12 of The Wheel of Time, THE GATHERING STORM, goes on sale nationally. Completed by Brandon Sanderson from notes and partials left by Robert Jordan, it is very good. I was its editor, as I was editor on ALL the Wheel books, and Maria Simons, Jordan’s right hand for over 12 years, and Alan Romanczuk, Jordan’s left hand (just because you can’t have two right hands unless you are … Shiva, is it?) have worked very closely with Brandon as well. We three — Harriet, Maria, and Alan — have really worked as Team Jordan on this book, and will do so on the following two, which will complete the Wheel. Book 13 will be titled TOWERS OF MIDNIGHT, and Book 14 will be A MEMORY OF LIGHT. Even Jordan couldn’t have written everything he left in one volume, although he thought he could. But you recall that he thought he could write the entire Wheel in six volumes. Try THE GATHERING STORM. I think you’ll like it a lot. I do. Best, Update: Some additional comments from Wilson: I was a Jordan fan before he was Jordan. The Warrior God was my childhood idol, the big brother I didn’t have. Love is too weak a word to describe my feelings for Jim. I would do anything for him and would defend him with my life. That includes defending his work. Saying that, I could not be more pleased with the work done by Team Jordan: Harriet, Brandon, Maria and Alan. The Gathering Storm masterfully continues Jim’s story in a manner that would be pleasing to the creator himself. There are countless “oh my!” moments. The pace is staggering. I fear that there will be many WOT fans who will loose sleep on the 27th because they just won’t be able to find a stopping point. I said before on this blog, that I loved Jim for bringing Harriet into my life. A grander lady there is not. Still what she has done in orchestrating and beautifully completing Jim’s work has raised her stock even more. Love you sis. The Warrior Angel is surely smiling. Congratulations to Team Jordan. Can’t wait till next year. Wilson |

I loved the 12th book, thank you all involved who helped. I was a bit fearful that it wouldn’t be as good but I think it might be my favorite so far… but I usually say that about the last book I read in any series.
Also, Harriet, please please please consider releasing these books on Kindle. I would love to reread them again and I travel a lot so a kindle is a great solution for me. I have already bought the books once and I am happy to buy them again in Kindle format, I bet I am not the only one.
Thank you for your consideration.

“I fear that there will be many WOT fans who will loose sleep on the 27th because they just won’t be able to find a stopping point.”
Oh boy. I already lose sleep whenever I reread the series out of impatience for the next book and you people are giving me NEW material? Damn you Jordan and your insomnia afflicting epics. -_-

I bought the book, and my nephew immeadiatly grabbed it to read, not knowing I had bought 2, one for his birthday, and one for me. He finally returned it.I finally got to start it. I love it. I took my time with it, as I promised to read it for a friend (& big WOT fan) who died 3 years ago.His name was George A. Nicolls.
George, I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope you caught up with RJ, and got the rest of the story. Hope the two of you are sitting up there talking about weaponds, and dragons, and military stratagies.
RJ, I hope you met my friend, for he was a huge fan. He left me all of his WOT books, and I passed them all to my nephew, so he could have a complete set.He is going to read them all to his sons.
Great book. Can’t wait for the next one. “The Mad Tatter”

Have past the earlier Books onto my family to read. We love them.

As the end of “Gathering Storm” approaches I am searching for news of the next book. I’ve enjoyed it greatly – I think Brandon Sanderson has done Robert Jordan proud. I particularly loved Egwene’s story. AARGH! only a couple more chapters to go and then waiting…. I was planning to start from the beginning once the story was complete, hmmm maybe I’ll follow the example of my fellow readers.

On receiving Storm as a Christmas present, I decided not to read it, but to purchase the hardback versions of all the previous books (I missed getting the HB of the first 5 books) and then start from the beginning, with New Spring before re-reading The Eye of the World, etc.
What a fantastic series and I was so sorry when I heard that Robert (Jim) had died so prematurly.
Hopefully when I finish reading the first 13 books, the last two will have been published.
With them all in HB, I will be able to re-read them again and again in the future.

Thanks a lot for a wonderful story.
I urge you, please try to finish this novel as soon as you can. We want to know what will happen in the end.
In addition, What happen to Rand’s boy? you did not say anything about it.
What about Lan?
Will Rand succeed ? (of course) and especially how.
please please please!! Do not wait another two years for each book, we have very little patience left…

Dear Team Jordan,
thank you VERY MUCH for The Gathering Storm.
I just finished reading it, and it has been a time full of Oh Gosh and eyes upwards in the sky to ‘tell’ RJ up there ’see, you had great ideas, and they are just doing a great job in continuing it all, guess you’re soooo happy too’. Kind of strange, how I kept ’speaking’ with him ;-)
Anyway, as happened before… now I just can’t wait to read the rest :-P I guess I’ll start a re-read now…
Great job, everybody, and to RJ… hope to meet you again in writing in your next life :)

Well now that I read “Storm” I am glad you all continued the story. It was GREAT. I believe Robert would have been proud. I am also glad you are committed to finishing the series. I wait in anticipation. I, like other readers, have decided to start at the beginning again. And what a treat it is. It has been long enough that it is almost like reading it new. I highly recommend “Storm” to all. You will not be disappointed and will actually be very happy you did.
Good luck and best wishes.
