Dragonmount owner, founder and webmaster Jason Denzel joins Virginia, Andrew G, Amir and Spencer to talk with us about his recent reading of the upcoming and highly anticipated Wheel of Time book, The Gathering Storm. He gives us some insights in the book (without revealing too much of the plot, alas!) and also tells a bit about how he first met Jim Rigney (aka Robert Jordan), his friendship with him and his family, and more. The Gathering Storm will be the first book in the Wheel of Time series to be published after Robert Jordan’s untimely death, and the first on which Brandon Sanderson collaborated posthumously with RJ, working with his widow and editor Harriet Rigney and research assistants Alan and Maria, using extensive notes and reference material compiled by RJ before he died. Two more novels will follow to complete the main sequence of novels, with the possibility of the other two prequel Jordan had planned as well. As always, during our discussions we go into all the books of the Wheel of Time series, from the prequel New Spring through Knife of Dreams, so if you haven’t finished your first read-through, you may want to come back to these podcasts when you have, as THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. Just no spoilers yet for The Gathering Storm! The team sends a big thank you and belated welcome as a new team member to editor Spencer, who not only appeared on the podcast with us again but edited it as well! What a guy! Jason’s complete blog review of The Gathering Storm, as well as a great deal of other news, can be found at http://www.dragonmount.com/News/?p=585</em> Listen Now:

Well, you may be wondering why there are TWO podcasts posted on the same day! It’s a first!
We moved these recently recorded ones up so that they would be more timely. They were done being edited on the same day (thank you, David and Spencer!) and they really go together as far as subject matter. I suggest that you download both and then listen to them one ofter the other, if you can.
We are making every effort to get these published on a more regular basis. We record nearly every week, with few exceptions, but that same old issue of editing is the problem. It’s just a lot of work, and our volunteer editors only have so many hours to devote to these things. It’s just…time-consuming.
So bear with us if you can, and thanks for listening!

TTHEY ARE MAKING THE OUTTRIGER NOVELS!!!
Sherman, was this breaking news from Dragon*Con, or where did you hear it?
I am very sorry, but some frends (who don’t read WoT) told me this as a prank. I found out, and regret posting this incorect statment.
ps. PLEEEEEEAS talk about my favorite artist & WoT fan-art maker, Semas! From one artist to another, his pictures are all but perfect, and he is alwase adding to his site. He also goes by Lord_of_Chaos_jr on dragonmount. He should be the cover art disiner for the books. GO SEMAS!!!
I dont think I like Amir
he doesn’t seem to fit in with the gang.
Well hello people! Two episodes at the same time wow… I feel spoiled. However i can’t seem to download episode 54 to my I-Tunes. And i’m trying to hold myself back so i can listen to the episodes one after another but it’s getting hard. Can you help me out Virginia (or another member of the 4th age team)
Greets Xar
This episode is now available on iTunes
Yipee!!! And thanks of course!
I agree with Tinker With a Sword. The flow of the show has changed in a detrimental fashion. Too cooks in the kitchen….
Too *many* cooks in the kitchen….
I don’t understand the negativity here, Amir is just another fan like the rest of us. He gets things mixed up sometimes, but who wouldn’t with all these details? These people do this for free in their spare time, for that I thank them.
Great Podcast! God I’m so excited for this book, and to make it even cooler I get to meet Brandon in Scottsdale, hopefully I’ll even get chosen for Storm Leader!
P.S.-Virginia, as much as you have your youthful fantasies of being in the Green, the Brown would never let you go. You would be doing to much research for Verin until you’re to tired to daydream of grand adventures anymore, lol.
You see Ray, you are kind of right about Virginia save one small problem – she has too much of a sense of humour for a Brown. I’m not sure where she would have fit in the most, but my guess is the Browns may have wanted her to start but few of them would have ended up getting any of the jokes, and Virginia wouldn’t stick around long surrounded by that many people without a sense of humour.
Oh, my goodness, may the Light illumine you all! I DO have a sense of humor, and it gets me in trouble more than a few times! Like Birgitte, sometimes I have a sense of humor like a rock thrown into a shoja-circle! Fortunately, our intrepid editors like David toss most of that stuff on the digital rubbish heap. If they ever do an out-takes episode, I’m doomed! And probably so is Andrew…
Anyway, if I could be an Aes Sedai, I’d pick Green, but honestly, if they wouldn’t have me, I can think of worse fates than doing research for Verin!
Perhaps after the next Breaking there will need to be a whole new set of Ajahs, and I can get in on the ground floor of the Purple Ajah, where we ride into battle with our pockets stuffed full of books, just in case we have to wait around to blast those Dreadlords. After all, we Purples definitely need more than ONE Warder to cart around all our books. Also, some of us could dance any number of strong men into the ground (not me, though)!
I thank the Light for modern technology. The invention of the 160gb iPod has saved me from innumerable holes in my pants pockets – I can stuff most of my library on that and cart it around with impunity!
By the way, if Verin turns out to be a Darkfriend, I’ll wear bells in the Blight. If she turns out to be a DF, I may have to…
I don’t understand how you can like or dislike someone just by listening to 3 or 4 shows ( the ones with Amir). I agree that he is different – but in a good way. He brings something else to the table. Other than the fact that the podcasters are doing this on their own free time, they are also there to give their perspective and opinion about the story. Yes… he may get few details wrong, but who wouldn’t???? there are like a gazillion books… RJ got confused himself some of the time… Give the guy a break – he sound like a huge fan. Aren’t we all!?
Thanks Tali’s man! We do try hard, but no one can please everyone.
I wonder how often RJ actually got confused on the details – not often, I’ll wager. And what a lot of details there are! If I spent as much time on my career as I do on the WoT – well, I’d better not go there.
Hi All. Thanks again for another great podcast. I agree with Tali’s man, everyone on the show is wonderful. I appreciate you all doing this in your spare time. The interview with Jason was very interesting, thanks for posting it.
Thanks, Kab! We hope to have Jason on again soon, as well as others who are instrumental in making Dragonmount and the Wheel of Time world such a great place to spend time.
It was mentioned in the Episode that there is an interview with the Readers of the WoT Audible books available…where would I find it on this site?
Nick – It’s soon to be released!
Where can I find the download? I don’t have itunes, is it available as just an mp3 file?
is bella being the creator a serious theory?
Min’s viewing of Moranin is alive do to some of them haven’t ture for her and the viewing min has of a woman that is dead to come back to help him and if she doesn’t come back then Rand would fail most likely
Hi guys.. I have to say that I do like the new podcast team, though, when Amir signs off and he says “May Fortune Prick you” ..I think that’s more of an exclamation like “My god!” or “I’ll be damned!” that the Illianers say. I could be wrong.
I can’t wait to read the parts with Cadsuane! I think (really hope) that we get some good ol’ Semirhage and Cadsuane time..like you’ve said on other podcasts, I think it will be one of those highly enjoyable chapters, like when Cadsuane just completely overrides the two Sea Folk Women in Far Madding (Harine and…Shalon?). Those women had been driving me crazy and it was so satisfying to have Cadsuane put them in their places.
However, in regards to Cadsuane, I also think that we (the readers) need to have a moment where she is impressed by Nynaeve. I just think that when we get Cadsuane’s pov that she is constantly disparaging of Nynaeve and calling her an immature child and such. However, in the parts where Elayne and Nynaeve are dealing with all the Kinswomen and the Bowl of the Winds, Nynaeve annoyed me incredibly with all her acting like a moonstruck teenager with Lan, and not helping Elayne and all.
Well, I’ll have to wait until Tuesday to see!
So excited!
I just wanted to reply to the comment about not being sure whether some of the “endings” were as RJ would have intended them…..
I am certain that I remember either reading or hearing BS say very clearly that there were very few, if any, plot line endings that were left for him to decide. I believe, in fact, that it was in one of his recorded sessions from DragonCon. He stated that (almost) every one was decided in advance, and that even ones that don’t get answered/resolved (or done so to our satisfaction) are that way on RJ’s explicit direction. Also, I seem to remember him saying that even if he did have such a decision to make, that he was very careful to run it through Harriet and the staff to make sure that it conformed to his vision and style before settling on it. (Maybe they would recall him saying or implying something about it that wasn’t otherwise recorded, etc.)
I bring that up because I have read several of Brandon’s other books, and was satisfied early on that he was capable, as a writer, of finishing the series adequately…. But that “what if” still very much hung in the air for me, UNTIL I heard/read that comment. I take great comfort in the fact that RJ was able to plan ahead sufficiently to make sure that the series ends the way he always intended it to.
Is it going to feel a little different? Almost certainly. Are there PARTS of it that might be different to some degree or another? I’m sure there are. But I am so reassured that the main stuff so true/correct/as it is supposed to be that I intend to receive it all as if it were dictated to Brandon straight from RJ’s mouth.
That is my personal approach, and my personal recollection… I’m sure that if I could find that statement, then others can, too. If my recollection is off, then I offer my sincere apologies… I certainly don’t condone intentionally spreading misinformation in order to suppress free thought or conversation. I mean this more as a reassurance that, based on what I recall hearing, we should be able to be more confident that the books are true to RJ’s vision.
Regardless, I can’t wait to read the book, and I really appreciate this website and all it has offered over the years!
