The Gathering Storm, the twelfth book in the Wheel of Time series, debuted at the number one spot on the prestigious New York Times bestseller list. This is the fifth WoT novel to hold the spot, and the first time that author Brandon Sanderson has been there. Gathering Storm’s appearance on the list ended a six or seven week reign that Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol had been holding onto. Congratulations to Brandon Sanderson and “Team Jordan” for this outstanding effort and accomplishment. And of course, congratulations as well to the late Robert Jordan, who’s book this truly is. Mr. Sanderson did an amazing job! I started the WoT series back in the late 90’s. Jordan wove his own weave, and compelled me to continue on his journey. When I discovered Harriet had selected Mr. Sanderson to complete this epic fantasy, I decided to check some of Brandon Sanderson’s previous works. The Mistborn trilogy was wonderful! If you havent read Mr. Sanderson before the GoS, I encourage you to do so. I can’t imagine having to finish an icon’s masterpiece, but Mr. Sanderson has penned a story that the master would be proud of!

Finished reading *TGS at 6:45am this morning, and it was well worth it. It was nice to finally see some of the issues from earlier volumes being concluded. I think the picture of Egwene defending the Tower will stick in my mind for quite some time. Truly Good Job Brandon.

this book was outstanding it was easily better than the last 3……. egwenes fight with the seanchan was one of the greatest battles to date. her weilding of saidar was awesome….but rands turning dark really kept me going great story telling. sanderson did a phenomenal job and i loved the chapters when mat is in hinderstap…. the only problem i have is where was taim and logain especially the way 11 ended with let the lord of chaos rule i wanted to see how rand would take it but i cant wait for the next one

It took a while for me to adjust to Sanderson’s prose coming from Jordan’s style of writing. (I just finished rereading KOD when I started TGS)
I felt and still feel that the first 300 pages or so the storyline is pretty slow, almost crawling.
It could have been finished in the prologue itself. After about the 300 mark or so it gathered momentum and left me breathless.
If only TOR thought of condensing those first pages, we could have a lot more story than the what was actually in the book.
Well, I think it’s a common enough complaint with the WOT fans that they are not getting enough of story from any of the books.
That’s my grouse

Well, now that TGS is #1 on the NYT best seller list, It would probably behoove Team Jordan to open up a few book signings internationally–Please sign me up to be a Storm Leader for the Book tour at Barnes and Noble, West Tokyo, and If anyone needs a guided tour–feel free to contact me!

I am so glad it is #1. I bought this the day it came out and cherished every single page. I dare say that this is one of the best if not the best of the series. There were definitely things that I didn’t like or maybe it would be better to say that somethings didn’t feel exactly right. Overall though Brandon Sanderson did a marvelous job and I really enjoyed the pace and writing style. Not to bash Jordan but sometimes he could get a little to descriptive and it seemed to me that Brandon stuck to the heart of everything but really added his own flare . I am more than pleased with the outcome and I am already chomping at the bit for the next installment. In the meantime I am going to dig into some of Brandon’s other works. Again congrats on #1 it isn’t often we see a fantasy title on the list.

I LOVED it!!!
Sanderson did a BRILLIANT job with Jordan’s notes, little bit disappointed that there was nothing about how Elayne is going, or what’s up with Galad, but I’m positive all shall be answered eventually!
On a side note, Sanderson’s Foreword brought me to tears, what a brilliant man, and well worth of The Wheel of Time! Well done in choosing an author Harriet!

I know I’m a few days late chiming in on this, but congratulations to both Jordan and Sanderson! I’m so happy for them both in knocking off Dan Brown. I know there was some doubt as to whether they’d gain the #1 spot, so I’m extremely pleased to see that it happened. Sanderson did a fantastic job on TGS, and he should be extremely proud of his accomplishment! WOOHOO!
